As I absorbed crystals, I was also stocking up on 5.56 and .50 cal rounds, mixed with fire and lightning magic, since those would be most effective against zombies. As I smiled at my mana pool rapidly increasing, it was worth coming here, that was for sure. I feel by the time I leave this place and the land of the dead. My mana pool will be way over 15,000,000.
Looking at my watch, it was now sundown as I got off my chair and smiled before summoning the fleet of Hap drones. "Let's get this show on the road." I said, summoning several loudspeakers as I hooked up my iPod and started playing "Alive and Kicking" by Nonpoint.
As I watched the recon drones as they started to pick up movement ten kilometers away. Zombies began to come out from the ground, turned their heads towards me, and began to walk. I waited until they numbered in the hundreds of thousands before turning to the Lee drones and ordering them to fire their cluster rockets.
As the volley of rockets went off and flew in a 180-degree pattern from my front, explosions could be heard in the distance, and my screen beeped, telling me I leveled up. Those explosions started bringing more zombies from farther away. I started playing my music from the recon drones as more and more zombies approached.
I didn't care much about picking up these crystals. I wanted to level up, so when I slept with another goddess, my other stats would increase more. If I get the chance to pick up the ones I killed, I will. Maybe I need to make worker drones tomorrow morning. As I was in thought, a recon drone beeped, making me pull up its feed.
"Interesting, Zombie giants. They stood at about 50 meters tall, Lee Units load fire and lightning ATACMS." I commanded. What was odd was that Zombie Giants didn't usually work together, as they are very territorial. At least that's what the books said, the only reason they would group.
"Someone is controlling them. Recon drones look for any zombies that are outside of normal zombie standards." I ordered. I ran through my thoughts and picked three possible outcomes. It's either a zombie general, a zombie king, or the slim chance of a zombie emperor. The last one is legendary and would be hard to hide.
The horde of zombies was growing as I watched; they had reached over a million now, but hadn't been able to get within five kilometers yet. As I turned to my Nepoalon units, ordering them to open fire with their 120 mm fire-and-lightning mortar shells. As I ordered the ATACMS fired.
The recon drones guided them in as they slammed into the hundred or so zombie giants, blowing them to pieces as a roar rang out. As the roar echoed, the zombies began to change, their mouths roared out, and their eyes glowed red as they broke out into a sprint.
"Frenzy, only an Emperor can effect this many! Prepare for combat! Hap drones intercept the first wave!" I roared out, shit, there is an Emperor zombie around here. "FIND THE EMPEROR ZOMBIE!" I roared at the recon drones. As the first wave came into view and the Haps started to drop their napalm onto them along with their thousand-pound bombs, spreading the napalm around through the horde.
The zombie horde pushed to four kilometers as the Hap's opened fire with their 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling guns, doing strafe runs on them. Expanding their ammo, I called them back as the Nepoalon units laid down mortar fire, blowing chunks out of the horde. But at this point, I lost count of the numbers.
The wave hit the first layer of mines as the Artorias units started to open fire, and I finished reloading the Hap units as they rejoined the fight. "Shit, I may have bitten off more than I could handle as I ordered the Lee units to switch back to cluster rockest and target the back line of the horde. I need to thin the numbers fast.
As I was focusing on keeping the lines, a recon drone beeped, showing a feed of a zombie on an undead horse with several zombies around him. That didn't look like a typical zombie. I quickly ordered one Lee Unit to switch to an Oblivion's Destruction ATACMS. If he were the Emperor, I would know after this.
He was sixteen kilometers behind the horde, giving the command. The Lee unit fired the first and waited 2 seconds before firing the second. It was at this time that the horde hit the second layer of the mines.
The Alexander Units began firing as I started reloading the Artorias units, trying to keep them green. Watching the screen as the zombie on the horse quickly drew his sword and a black slash shot out, hitting the first ATACMS, making it explode, and the shock wave destroyed the other zombies around him as he jumped off the horse, and the second one hit where he was moments before.
Sliding on the ground as it stood, I knew at this moment he was the Emperor. I quickly ordered the Lee units to open fire with Legendary ATACMS. I need to do one of three things: I need to kill him, I need to keep him from joining the fight, or I need to make him retreat.
Frenzy had a range limit, so if I can keep firing until he is out of range, it will weaken the zombies. They hit the third line of mines, now making the Caesar units open fire as I re-spawned the first two layers of drones. I also took the opportunity to resupply the Nepoalon and Hap units, as they had gone dry.
I was now down to 80% ammo. If this kept up, I could be overrun, as I still hadn't cut down a quarter of the horde. They had to be in the high tens of millions, yeah, I think I need to chill with my ego right now. Until I have the means to back it up, I grunted. Looking at the Emperor destroying and dodging the ATACMS.
But I could see that it was becoming overwhelming to him, making me smirk as I quickly changed the ammo on twenty Haps to Legendary rank and ordered them to attack that zombie. As they started to fly towards him, he pulled out a horn and blew it, making me put the Haps on stand by. The zombies stopped moving and looked back before running towards the Emperor.
I sighed and nodded. I didn't give chase as I didn't want to expend more ammo. I doubt the Legendary would risk facing me anytime soon without knowing what I can do. I didn't even know if there were more of his kind in this place. There wasn't any info on a Legendary undead, but I will make sure to kill him before I leave the wastelands, as having a being that can turn the living into undead isn't smart to let live.
"Looks like I will have to use up the rest of my mana recovery potions tomorrow. I will increase my numbers by five times and bring my ammo up to twenty times what it is now. Only then will I feel like I can handle this horde again." I said, looking at the battlefield, that there had to be millions of dead zombies.
Lucky for me, they were so close together, allowing my bombs and rockets to do the most damage. I thought to myself, sighing as I took a seat and pulled a smoke out, lighting it. Not a bad job for my first taste of a zombie horde.
Lying on the pool chair, I looked up at the cloudless star sky and pulled out a crystal. "Looks like I won't be sleeping tonight," I muttered while absorbing a crystal and pulling up my creation ability as I got to work.
By the time the sky lightened up, I had already absorbed 50,000 crystals. Pulling up my stat screen, I smiled.

I get five intellect for every common crystal, meaning the 50,000 I absorbed gave me 250,000 intellect, with another 900 from leveling. Last night was worth all the headaches. Now I need to prepare for making my army grow today.
I summoned the Harpies as they were ready to get to work. They were happy to earn crystals so easily. I will leave this place tomorrow, but for now, I will focus on getting stronger.
