"Hey Luke, get your ass of the bed you moron. Am going to be late for school if you still there" Tia shouted as she banged the door.
"fuck off Tia, I need more sleep just ten more minutes" Luke said as he covered himself up some more with his blanket in his room.
"if you don't come out from there and get your ass down for breakfast am going to kick you in the ass and make it hurt" she said as she walks down the stairs to the kitchen to meet my parents as they were all ready to live the house to work.
He just rolled out of bed and made his way to the bathroom to get ready.....
Ten minutes later Luke was done and made his way downstairs to meet his family that awaits him in the table so they could have breakfast together.
"hi mom, hi dad good morning" he greeted them as he sat down for his food
Mom answered him with a smile "hey honey good morning how was your night" I just smiled back signaling that 'my night was good' "that's unfair, no one asked me how my night went" Tia sounded a bit sad "sorry Tia baby, you know your little brother just came back from his travel from gramps place" dad said as he held out his hand to Tia to calm her down.
In the house Tia was dad's favorite and there parents spoilt her rotten, while Luke was mom's favorite but he wasn't spoilt in any way maybe because he had his twin who was the star of the house as he played basketball at school and was the best at it.
"what's popping fam" Blake said as he made his way down the stairs "oh hey lukey, back from Spain from your nerdy schooling with gramps" he asked making funny faces to his twin.
Luke and Blake where twins with different their hair colors and facial structures but what made them twins was the birth mark on both their hands and their blue eyes.
"fuck you Blake, but it was great by the way I got my trophy for being a nerd, junkie" he said back with a smirk cause he knows his brother hates that name
Dad just coughs to get all their attention "that's enough Luke, your grades are good but your brother has a better chance of getting a life than you" he told Luke who just got annoyed with that statement
Mom signed and turned to Luke "lukey honey, don't mind your father OK... I know you will do me proud" she told him and gave a disapproval look to his dad.
"what just saying the truth" the father still pressed on with his words
Luke just got up got his bag and said "thanks a lot for the heads up dad, I don't really care of what you think about me you know..... Am going to school now, Tia am in the car" and with that he left the table while he hears his mom talking to his father
"Dan really, you always do this any time Luke is in the house or with us. You know this is the reason why he went to gramps in the first place so he could not feel depressed like last time, he likes education just like me but he's still a child that needs your love too not your discrimination..... You know what am off to work thanks for making my day half bad" mom said as she got up the table walking outside.
The father just looked surprised by the sudden exchange of his wife "Kate..... Kate" but she didn't answer "what is wrong with that woman" he said in a low tone.
Luke was standing outside when he saw his mother came out from the house with an angry expression....
'I think they had the talk again' he thought as he stood there waiting for his siblings to finish up.
"want a ride to school" his mom inquired "yeah, I guess" he said as he made his way to his mom's car
"yeah so that we can have a mother and son time, like before" his mom said while opening the door to start the car
"yeah, like before I missed that too" he said as he enters the car.
The ride to school was a thirty minutes drive and that was all they needed to catchup on the five years Luke has been away to Spain.
Mom started the conversation with a light cough "so how was studies, gramps and Spain"
"great as they come mom, and I think I like there more better since their is no dad to remind me that I am an incompetent child and I will never be anything good in life" Luke said with anger in his voice.
His mother just signed at that and quickly changed the topic of things "so how do you feel now that you are back from Spain and about to start high school here"
With a breath taken Luke just seems calm "first off if am telling you the truth I feel like shit, but I look forward to everything and anything so I can work more even if am not good enough for some people" he said making references to his siblings and father...
"you are good for me and gramps even if no one thinks that..... So always know am with you always OK and there are more people out there who will love you for who you are" his mother said with an encouraging smile
"even when they say am a nerd and am not good at sports are anything like the rest of them" Luke asked with a sad look on his face.
Things has started to frustrate him since he got back from Spain a week ago.
"yes son even when you are a nerd, people will always love you, I will always love you just remember that and continue moving forward for me ok lukey" Mom said while holding his hand in hers "will try, but mom no promises".
She only laughs which Luke joined in as the rest of the ride continues in jokes and laughter
"We are here dear, take care of yourself and remember"
Both say the words mom ever about to say together "you are loved and be smart cause smart people rule the world"
"I know mom, you tell me all the time and before you ask I took my drugs and inhaler with me in case I fall into a panic attack so am fine mom no need to worry about me just live your day" Luke said as he made his way out the car "OK son, look at you all grown up see you sweetie and remember call me when things goes south and most of all I love you" mom said with a wary face as if Luke was a delicate glass which he was.
Luke muttered as he goes 'LOVE YOU TOO MOM'
Today was about to be bad for him since in five years he hasn't been in Chicago for a while and now it all looks foreign to him as he walks the stairs.
"Hey lukey, how is been..... Been long" a kid screams as he made his way up the stairs behind Luke
On turning to the source of the sound Luke was met with an embrace that he found familiar with "huh.... Hmmm, please" he pulls away from the other guy with a questionable look.
The boy or should he look at him very well he wasn't looking like a boy but a young man only that the man was in his age range.
"ohh sorry it's been years since you last saw me, but no offense taken..... It's me your best buddy Nathaniel or you use to call me Nathan for short and I call you lukey from grade school" Nathaniel said as he smiled broadly at the shorter guy before him
It took Luke a few minutes to remember who Nathaniel was "ohhh Nate, holy fuck.... Nathan how could I forget you, I thought you were someone else who just know that name by hearing it from somewhere..... Oh my gosh you look big, buggy and tall too" Luke said looking surprised by his friend's changes.
"hehe, you look good yourself but not too tall but you look good and cute as a girl" Nathaniel said hitting the back of Luke while laughing...
"stop that, am not a girl and please don't start with me this time" Luke said looking a bit offended by that statement.
The two meetings was an unexpected turn of event and it went all the way back from grade school but they made their friendship work with the few years Luke was still there but after he hit his 10th birthday and he left for Spain living Nathaniel and everything he ever knew here but here he was back to the same place he left behind with all his past hitting him on the face just as he came back in the space of one week.
"so where to" Nathaniel asked, "off to class but first I need to get my curriculum from the headteacher's office" Luke said as he walked down the hallway leading to the office
"ok the what class will you be in then, cause am I class 1A, a new year class don't you think" Nathaniel said as he held the back of his neck
"it's weird seeing you like this but I think I was registered too in that same class" Luke said being thoughtful for a while.
"Hey nerdy lukey see you around" Blake shouted as he walked with his basketball team
"shut it Blake, and live him alone...." Nathaniel said with a frown.
Luke just ignored his twin as he walked to the office to get his curriculum the day will be a long day for him.
What will the day bring for him, he doesn't know yet but he hope that his life wouldn't be in hell with him being here.
