A week later, I wake up to my phone blowing up, Eli is trying to call me
"Eli it's fucking 5am what do you.."
"She's fucking dead!!!"
"Who?!?"
"Williams wife, it's on the news, they found her dead in their mansion this morning"
"No fucking way"
"Yeah and the cops are saying there's no signs of foul play and natural causes isn't being ruled out yet"
"Get the fuck outta here"
"I'm serious, what if she just died before they could take her out"
"I highly doubt that, there's some weird shit going on… but can it wait until morning, I ain't bout to lose sleep over an old ass lady I didn't even know"
"Yeah you right, just wanted to let you know Jay"
"Yeah I get you I gotta a question though"
"What's up?"
"What color panties you got on?"
I hear her laugh
"Go to sleep Jay"
She hangs up and I head back to sleep.
At work I get a note from Williams telling me to keep all the news networks out of the community and to control traffic of everyone going to and from the memorial for his wife. Well this is going to be fuuun. Half way through my shift Sarah walks over to the booth
"Hey Jay"
"Sarah"
"Such a tragedy right, so sad, everyone's devastated"
I can hear the sarcastic tone in her voice
"Yeah it is, it's weird how she just passed randomly"
"Yes but she was older, we can't all live forever"
"Yeah I get you.. is there anything important you need because I'm pretty busy today with trying to keep the news out and traffic control"
"Actually yes, tonight I need you to come to my place, there's something important that I need to tell you"
"Alright, ill let you know"
"No Jay, you need to be there it's urgent and let's say mandatory"
"I'll be there Sarah"
Sarah waves and walks away. I immediately text Eli.
"Sarah just told me I need to come to her house tonight and it's 'mandatory', I'm kinda scared"
"Yeah sounds weird but she definitely likes you so I doubt it's anything bad"
"That doesn't make it any better"
"Yeah but what if she's going to tell you more about what's going to happen"
"I never thought about that"
"You'll be alright Jay, if anything just blow her back out again 😉"
"Not helping Eli"
"Come on you know you laughed, just trying to lighten it up"
"Maybe just a little 😂 but I'll let you know what happens"
The hours drag on until it's time to clock and I head over to Sarah's place… Hopefully this meeting ain't my last.
