Like a hell of flame.
Above and below, everywhere they looked was filled with blazing fire.
Scarlet light scorched the meat-walls without ceasing. The air reeked of scorched and barbecued flesh.
And Su Tang's figure flashed everywhere in the fire.
"Ah-hahahahaha! If I hadn't worried that the fire-qi would get to my head and I'd ignore the talisman and just go hard, I would've done this long ago!"
"Little Kobeni did great. Now you have nothing to leverage me with!! So…"
"Suffer! Wail! I just—love your despairing screams!!"
With fire-qi at full throttle, it flooded every corner of Su Tang's body.
His eyes were blood-red; even his pupils glowed with searing gold, as if his gaze could ignite things.
Curses from the Eternity Devil came from every direction without end. It was indeed as it claimed—unkillable. Burn away one patch of meat-wall, and another regrew; then the heads sprouting from it felt pain anew.
Without exception!
It raged, trying to vent on Aki and the others on the ground, but any arm that reached them was lopped off at the root by Denji-ko, who had transformed into the Chainsaw Man.
The six tritium tubes on the girl blazed with excitement. Her chainsaw arms thrust themselves into the flames and lit up her whole body. Wreathed in fire, she screamed in frenzy: "Shaa-haa, shaa-haa! So hot! So scalding! It feels like even my blood is burning!!"
Bzz—bzz—bzz—
Two hands plus the one on her head—three chainsaws—thrust in unison, boring deepest. The region spurted meat-slurry.
More than double the torment!
"You—you two—you're not human!!"
The Eternity Devil's voice trembled, pitch rising and falling like a roller coaster, grating on the ears. "You're devils—devils! I want to go back to hell—send me back to hell!!"
"Hell? This is your hell!" Flames danced around Su Tang. The dragon head wore an enraptured expression; he closed his eyes and inhaled, intoxicated. "The scent of sulfur, the taste of heat… like soaking in a hot spring—warm and comfortable. Don't you agree?!"
"Mad, you're mad—all of you are mad! A bunch of lunatics!!"
The Eternity Devil's heads screamed in the endless fire—burned to ash; then a new batch sprouted, shaking as they cried in chorus: "Send me back to hell! Let me lose this painful memory! I'll expose the heart—quick, burn it, I beg you!"
How wretched the plea, how painful the voice.
Truly enough to move the listener to tears.
"Ah-ha! That's it? That's all it takes?!" Su Tang flashed before the exposed, enormous heart. His dragon claw sank in at once. "I was just getting warmed up!"
Splurt—
Blood flew.
"Fina…lly… freed…"
The heart was pierced. The surrounding meat-walls rapidly melted. The hedge of heads drooped like frost-burned eggplants; light faded from their eyes.
"Thank… you."
"You're welcome. Come play on earth again anytime."
Su Tang laughed as the flames began to subside from him. The half-dragon form faded, revealing that ordinary Public Safety uniform.
"Mm."
He rubbed the temples that had "swollen to explosion" from overexcitement and smiled helplessly.
Come to think of it, this was the third time he and Denji-ko had been accused of being devils.
Once by the Zombie Devil, once by the Bat Devil, and this last by the Eternity Devil.
Really… I'm pure human.
Sighing, Su Tang returned to the ground.
Everything was scorched black, except the middle area the flames hadn't covered.
Seeing Arai sitting dazed, Su Tang cleared his throat.
"Se—senpai!"
Arai jolted awake and looked at Su Tang with a gaze mixing awe and fear.
That devil-like state and strength had shaken the rookie.
"Mm. Take care of Aki. Wait here with Denji-ko and Power for the Public Safety follow-up." Su Tang went to Kobeni and lifted her onto his back, then walked toward the now brightening outside. "As for her—she swallowed a foreign object that fell from the shield—she needs to be taken to the hospital at once to have it removed."

Whew—back.
Raising his head at the familiar hospital sign, Su Tang pushed the door and went in.
He had come back by taxi. After he showed his Public Safety ID, the driver suddenly got fired up and floored it.
Though they didn't waste any time, it also sent him a signal—maybe he should buy a car?
Mulling it over, Su Tang was about to go upstairs when he felt movement on his back.
"You're awake?"
"Se—senpai?? Where is this?" Kobeni had been a bit groggy, but on seeing the unfamiliar surroundings she instantly sobered—and remembered how she'd fainted!
"What are you doing… senpai."
She asked in a tremble, not daring to move.
"Sorry. The situation earlier was emergent, so I had to knock you out—to prevent accidents. Sorry." Su Tang apologized sincerely. "The Eternity Devil has been eliminated. But you swallowed a foreign object—remember? Leaving it in could cause problems. I'll take it out."
"Eliminated…?"
Kobeni's eyes went wide with shock. Then she heard the second half and instinctively covered her throat.
It did feel like she had swallowed something—big and hard.
"Senpai!" She suddenly remembered he was a doctor. She asked anxiously, "What was it? Will I be poisoned?!"
"Most likely a piece broken from the shield. It needs to be removed promptly."
Su Tang set her down gently, took a paper from a folder, and handed it to her. "Gastric lavage. A simple treatment—but I still need your signature of consent."
He could have done it by force, like last time with Power—have Denji-ko hold her down and jab the tube in at once; Power hadn't even had time to cry out.
But Kobeni and Power were different. Power was a fiend and had signed a slave contract. She didn't enjoy human rights. Kobeni was a real human. Even if she hadn't woken, he would have woken her and explained.
It was the most basic medical ethics.
"Okay, I'll do it!"
Kobeni signed, a little nervous.
