It was a heavy punch.
Power immediately donned a mask of pain and dropped to one knee with a thud.
The shield fell, rolled twice along the meat-floor, and was instantly swallowed and vanished.
"Hahahahaha! Human! The shield returns to me in the end!"
A head blocking Su Tang's way laughed, spat out the golden, ancient shield, and shrieked: "In the name of eternity, I'll give you one last chance! Give me Denji-ko's heart! Otherwise you will forever—"
"Bang—!!"
A peal of metal on metal.
Su Tang twisted his neck, strode in, and swung his arm in a heavy arc—
Slamming a punch right into the center of the shield!
"I told you already—the shield doesn't matter!"
Two consecutive hooks!
The shield let out a tooth-aching screech. Its center sank in at once, imprinting a deep fist-mark.
Wrinkles crowded around it, looking just like the Sphincter Devil back when it lived.
"Human!! You really don't want the shield!"
The Eternity Devil cried out. The head that Su Tang had shattered with "through-the-mountain" force re-grew to the side. Exasperated, it gasped: "Impossible! You searched for it for over half an hour!"
"Hehe. Plenty of impossible things."
Su Tang smiled faintly, casting a subtle glance below.
Denji-ko's earlier shock at losing the shield to Power had vanished. Her eyes were crescent moons; her face brimmed with irrepressible delight.
Because in her hand was that octagonal stone talisman!
"Ah-hahaha! Crappy woman, you fell for it!"
Denji-ko beamed at the kneeling Power. "I was actually fooling you! Didn't you see the inlay in the center? This stone is almost the same as what Mr. Su Tang wanted last time—so this is the real chest muscles!"
"Damn it, despicable human brat!"
Power puffed out her cheeks, fuming. "So you meant to get tricked and slipped it out ahead of time?! Damn it, Yours Truly got scammed! Scammed hard!"
Su Tang's mouth stretched in a terrifying smile.
It seemed Denji-ko had some wits after all. His earlier judgment had been a bit off—he'd better change "junior high" to "high school."
With that, Su Tang looked at the Eternity Devil again.
This supposedly unkillable thing was still sinking in dazed despair after losing its leverage. Countless heads murmured, "Impossible, impossible, impossible… It was… That's it!"
As if recalling something, the murmurs turned to shrieks: "It's a special aura! When I grabbed the shield back just now, it lost that aura! Yes! That must be it!"
All its heads dropped at once, and thousands of muddy eyes fixed on Denji-ko, who was stepping into a chest-muscles fantasy.
"It's you, it's you—Chainsaw…!"
Blood flashed in Su Tang's eyes. He immediately dove, shouting, "Denji-ko, dodge!"
"Hahaha you—what?" Denji-ko, snapped from fantasy, looked around blankly—and then saw a nightmarish scene!
The ground—no, the meat under everyone's feet—suddenly billowed like waves!
Meat-tumors, heads, arms—disgusting things sprouted like bamboo after rain under everyone's feet! Boundless, like mountains of corpses and seas of blood!
Above and below, countless heads turned in unison toward Denji-ko. Countless mouths howled in frenzy: "Chainsaw, Chainsaw! Give it to me! Give it to me!"
It was like a riot of demons.
"What the hell is that!"
Denji-ko jolted in fright. One hand reached through her collar for the pull-cord on her chest; the other hurled the talisman high. "Mr. Su Tang—catch!"
"Damn it!"
Su Tang tore at the arms growing around him, but the drag slowed his descent by a few seconds.
Just as the talisman arced down, a withered arm lashed it aside.
"Hahahaha! Human! That's what you want, right? Go get it! Go on!" The Eternity Devil giggled, feeling it had leverage again. "Let me see… where shall I knock it to? Not too far—oh? Oh!"
Its tone turned petulant.
Su Tang looked toward the talisman. It described a wide circle and began a parabolic drop… destination—Higashiyama Kobeni?!
Yes—Kobeni!
The timid rookie had been trembling and praying for Su Tang since the Eternity Devil revealed itself.
"Damn it! Get away!!"
A head lunged from the meat before her, bared sharp teeth, and snapped at her.
"Aaah!" Startled, Kobeni opened her mouth to scream—just as something popped into her mouth.
"Uh—urgh! Cough, cough!"
Choking, she pounded her chest.
Gulp. Whatever it was went down.
Tears in her eyes from choking, she looked up—and saw the astonished Eternity Devil and Su Tang.
"Ah-hahaha! Little Kobeni, nicely done!"
Su Tang laughed aloud. Taking advantage of the two seconds while the Eternity Devil froze, he dropped in front of Kobeni and crushed the head to pulp.
With blood-red dragon eyes, he glanced at her. As the girl trembled, he gave a "kind" smile. One arm turned human, reached into his inner pocket.
"I suddenly like you a little. So…"
"Sleep for a bit."
He pulled out a piece of gauze.
Speaking softly, he pressed the gauze over her mouth and nose before she could react.
"Mmmph…" The black doctor's anesthetic was formidable. In two seconds, she stopped struggling in his arms.
"Se—senpai!" Arai stared, shocked.
"It's fine. She's just sleeping—to prevent accidents in a minute." Su Tang bared his teeth in a grin at Arai. "As a doctor, it's normal to carry anesthetic, right?"
He set Kobeni on a bed, then looked at the Eternity Devil.
Flames burst out around him again—hotter than before!
"I finally don't have to worry about anything! Devil! I hear you don't fear death—do you fear pain?"
"Let this raging fire burn your sin away—hahahahaha!"
