Chapter 65 - CHAPTER 65

"Hey!!"

"Where are you going?!"

"It's dangerous outside!!"

Seeing Qianye suddenly stride out from their hiding place, Wang Tu's heart tightened in panic. Did he not understand how terrifying those Root operatives were?

These were men trained directly under Danzo ANBU-level killers raised from childhood to eliminate hesitation.

And moments ago, they had massacred an entire squad of seasoned Iwa-nin.

Going out now was practically walking into death.

She instinctively wanted to run.

But as soon as fear surged up, another thought struck her:

Qianye had just saved her life.

Abandoning him here alone would be shameful and ungrateful.

So she clenched her fists, forced herself to endure the fear, and stayed hidden.

---

"It's just as expected of operatives personally conditioned by that old vulture Danzo," Qianye muttered, shaking his head as he stepped out of the thicket.

"They don't overlook even the smallest trace."

The Root members immediately snapped their attention toward him.

When they recognized who had appeared, their expressions shifted sharply

a mix of surprise, caution, and killing intent.

The captain spoke first, voice chilled:

"Uchiha Qianye…

You were shadowing us from the beginning, weren't you?

So that woman surviving… was also your doing."

Qianye smiled faintly.

"Her identity happens to be special.

I couldn't just stand by and watch."

His straightforward admission made the captain's expression twist into something uglier.

"You dare defy Danzo-sama's will?!" he growled.

"You stand against the future of the village itself!

That woman must die she cannot be allowed to live!"

Qianye's eyes curved with amusement.

"Danzo… equals the village?" he repeated.

The moment he said this, the Root operatives' composure shattered.

Their faces distorted in fury.

Becoming Hokage had long been Danzo's obsession.

And his most devoted followers believed fanatically that one day, Danzo would rightfully claim the Fifth Hokage seat.

To them, mocking Danzo was sacrilegious.

"You dare insult Danzo-sama?!"

"Even if you are the Uchiha clan patriarch, we will not forgive you!!"

The killing intent in the captain's eyes became unmistakable.

---

Uchiha clan… patriarch?!

Wang Tu, hidden in the brush, nearly gasped aloud.

She knew of the Uchiha

a thousand-year-old clan whose Sharingan was famed across the entire shinobi world.

A clan that stood equal to the Senju during the Warring States era.

She always imagined their clan head to be a towering, fearsome man

imposing, rugged, radiating martial command.

But instead… the patriarch was a boy close to her own age??

Burly and domineering?

Not even a little.

All she saw was a calm-faced youth with a faint, almost playful smirk.

Her mind struggled to reconcile the image.

---

Qianye tilted his head slightly, regarding the Root squad with a serene, almost pitying smile.

"What loyal subordinates Danzo has gathered," he said softly.

"Your devotion is… admirable."

His eyes sparkled with amusement.

"So how about this you abandon Root and work for me instead?

I guarantee you'll be treated ten times better than Danzo's human-weapon factory."

The answer was instantaneous.

"Dream on!"

"We serve Danzo-sama alone!"

"We have only one leader!"

Their rejection was absolute, unwavering.

Qianye didn't look surprised.

If anything, his smile deepened.

When the captain spoke again, his pupils narrowed into slits, and a dense killing intent surged from his body cold, sharp, and unmistakably trained.

Even without the signature ANBU masks, the cruelty of Root conditioning clung to them like a second skin.

"You've always been a thorn in Danzo-sama's side," he said icily.

"And now you've interfered with Danzo-sama's operation… again."

"Your existence only breeds chaos for Danzo-sama's plans."

"So it's better… that you disappear here tonight."

The words fell like a death sentence.

Several Root operatives immediately unsheathed their tantō standard ANBU blades designed for silent kills ready to strike the moment the captain gave the signal.

Qianye clicked his tongue softly.

"Oh? Planning to use this situation to get rid of me?"

"What a coincidence."

"Because I had the same plan."

A faint sneer tugged at the corner of his lips.

"…Let's test out that new technique I just perfected."

He drew in a slow breath, focusing.

Chakra gathered in his palm, swirling violently yet precisely.

It spun in multiple micro-vortices, compressing further and further as he refined it.

A moment later, a dense, bright-blue sphere formed in his right hand.

"Rasengan?!"

"That's the Fourth Hokage's technique how can a brat like him—?!"

The Root nin who recognized it couldn't suppress their shock.

But Qianye wasn't finished.

He continued concentrating, weaving Wind Release chakra into the Rasengan something even Naruto struggled with under Yamato's guidance years later.

The sphere's rotation intensified, ripping the air around it.

WHIRRRRRRR!!

Fine, razor-thin wind blades erupted from the Rasengan's edges, expanding it into a deadly shuriken-like form.

The sound of air being shredded became deafening.

Wind Release: Rasenshuriken.

Even the hardened Root operatives flinched the instinctive terror of witnessing S-rank chakra manipulation up close.

Qianye wasn't about to let them retreat.

He sprinted forward, vaulted into the air, twisted his body mid-jump, and hurled the technique downward with all the precision of someone who trained obsessively.

FWOOOOSH!!

The Rasenshuriken screamed through the clearing, landed dead center among the Root members and detonated.

A massive white sphere of shredding wind erupted outward, consuming everything.

The sound of the explosion was a roaring, grinding howl the unmistakable noise of billions of microscopic wind blades tearing through matter.

By the time the storm finally dissipated, Qianye stepped forward and surveyed the destruction.

The Root operatives lay on the ground, bodies motionless, internal injuries so severe that even their advanced training couldn't save them.

None drew breath.

The Rasenshuriken's range destruction had proven as overwhelming as expected an S-rank technique lethal even to elite shinobi.

After confirming the kills, Qianye called out toward the grass nearby:

"They're all dealt with. You can come out now."

A moment later, Wang Tu emerged from the brush, trembling.

Her eyes were wide with shock and fear.

That technique that monstrous storm of cutting chakra

She never imagined that Root operatives, elite fighters whose weakest member was still superior to a standard chūnin, could be annihilated instantly by someone her age.

It felt unreal.

Impossible.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, Qianye suddenly placed a hand on her shoulder.

She nearly jumped out of her skin.

"Relax," he said calmly. "I'll take you to your brother next."

He turned slightly then froze.

His gaze drifted downward for half a second.

Ah…

It appeared the coat he gave her wasn't fitting quite as well as he had assumed.

The two soft curves on her chest were straining against the neckline, threatening to escape entirely.

Qianye exhaled through his nose.

Yes.

That coat… definitely did not fit the way he imagined.
