Chapter 2 - THE GLITCH IN THE SKY

2: "The Glitch in the Sky"

EXT. CASSIE'S HOUSE – MIDNIGHT

The wind hums softly. Everyone's asleep.

Damien sits up from his flat bed, glances at the ceiling, then quietly slips out from under his blanket.

He moves silently across the wooden floor. Moonlight glints on his silver-white hair.

He pauses beside Cassie's sleeping form — she's turned toward him, smiling faintly in her dreams.

He slides open the creaky door, flinching as it groans — then steps into the cool night.

OUTSIDE – PATH TO THE FENCE

His footsteps crunch softly against gravel. The village is dim, bathed in pale blue light.

In the distance — the fence looms. Tall. Cold. Covered in warning signs.

(He hears rumbling from behind him)

Damien (whispering): what was that?

Cassie bursts from behind a tree, panting, wearing an oversized sweater and slippers.

Cassie: What do you think you're doing?!

Damien (startled): You followed me.

Cassie: You snuck out! That's illegal in "guest etiquette 101."

She crosses her arms, pretending to scold, but her voice trembles with worry.

Damien: You shouldn't be here.

Cassie (sitting beside him):I was about to say the same thing to you.

They sit in silence. The world feels too still.

Damien: I just wanted to catch my breath that's all

Cassie (gasping): What the—?! Why do you talk as if we ran?

Damien: It was just a lot to take in, experiencing everything at once, how I wanted my family to be like...

Cassie: oh

They stare together at the sky

Damien: Beautiful night huh??

Cassie: I guess so

Cassie (gently): …You think a lot, don't you?

Damien: Maybe too much.

Cassie: About what?

Damien (softly): About what's beyond that fence.

Cassie follows his gaze. The metal structure looms — endless, cold, humming faintly under the wind.

Cassie: You really wanna know that badly?

Damien: Don't you?

Cassie (hesitating): No. I just want to know why you care so much.

Damien looks at her, then away — no answer.

The night hums quietly. Then —

The sky flickers.

Like a screen losing signal. The stars distort, twisting for a split second before returning to normal.

( Reality blinks, a weird light that doesn't belong in nature is seen in the forest beyond the fence, glitches like a broken tv)

Damien rubs his eyes

Damien(inner voice): maybe I ate too much.

Cassie: What was that?

Damien: y- you saw that too?

(Sky glitches)

Damien gets up and walks toward the fence

Cassie: Hey.... Where do you think you're going? That's breaking the law

Damien: Don't you wanna know what's behind that fence?

Cassie: No, I want to live to see breakfast!

Damien: Then go back.

He steps closer to the fence. Cassie groans.

Cassie: You're unbelievable. Fine, but if we get eaten by some mutant squirrel, that's on you.

They crawl through a small gap under the metal wall. On the other side, everything feels off.

The air is heavier, colder — even the moonlight looks dimmer, tinted faint blue.

---

FOREST BEYOND THE FENCE

Cassie: Damien, slow down!

Damien: There's something wrong with this world… I can feel it

The forest ahead is silent. No birds. No insects. Just the sound of their breathing.

Cassie (whispering): This place feels… dead.

Damien: Or hidden.

They walk deeper, the ground soft beneath their shoes.

A faint vibration hums through the soil — rhythmic, like a pulse.

Cassie (gripping his sleeve): Maybe we should turn back…

Damien: Just a little further.

Cassie (murmuring): …It's colder here.

Damien: The air feels… different.

Cassie: We should go back

A faint hum grows louder.

Cassie: This is getting scary what if someone catches us?

Damien: then I'll finally make use of being a Hakuya.

Cassie: that's not funny

Damien: just a little further, I need to know.

The trees thin out, revealing an empty road stretching into the distance.

It looks endless — smooth, untouched.

Damien steps forward. Cassie lingers behind.

Cassie: Damien, I swear if something—

Then — THUD!

Cassie (rushing to him): Are you okay?!

Damien (rubbing his head): I—hit something.

He slides his hand across it — and the world beyond ripples, distorting like water.

He touches it again. The wall ripples slightly, sending a digital pulse through the trees.

The sky glitches violently — the moon splits into fragments, static surging across the horizon.

Cassie (whispering): Damien… it's like the world ends here.

Cassie (in awe): Damien… it's fake. The world's fake.

Damien (softly): Or it's hiding something.

The ripples expand — the forest around them trembles slightly, as if the world itself is reacting.

Cassie (grabbing him): Please! Let's go back!

Damien: …Cassie. What if everything we know ends right here?

Cassie (shaking): Then maybe we're not supposed to find out why.

They stare at the rippling wall. The sky flickers again — the stars freeze mid-twinkle, half the forest bathed in digital shimmer.

A deep mechanical hum echoes from beyond the barrier.

Damien (whisper): …It's real.

Cassie (terrified): No… it's wrong.

The hum grows louder — then suddenly stops.

Silence.

They both back away slowly, eyes fixed on the invisible wall.

Cassie (quietly): Promise me you won't come back here.

Damien (after a pause): …I can't promise that.

The faint light from the wall pulses once — like a heartbeat.

Cassie edges closer.

Cassie (whispering): …Maybe we should go. Please.

Damien doesn't respond. His reflection shimmers faintly on the barrier.

Then —

BANG!

A massive thud slams into the wall from the other side.

The sound reverberates through the forest.

Cassie yelps and stumbles back.

Cassie: W–What was that?!

Damien stares wide-eyed.

Damien: Something… hit it.

THUD!

Another impact — louder this time, cracking through the silence.

Leaves fall from nearby trees.

Cassie: It's coming from outside the wall!

Damien (tense): That's impossible—

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The noise multiplies.

Dozens of heavy, wet impacts — bodies slamming into the barrier again and again.

The invisible surface flickers violently, the fake forest projection glitching and flashing until—

BLACK.

The illusion dies completely, revealing a massive curved screen-like dome stretching above them.

Lines of digital static crawl across it.

Damien and Cassie back away, terrified.

Cassie (panicking): Damien… let's run—

Damien (frozen): Wait… look.

The wall trembles as something on the other side rakes against it.

Deep scratches form, glowing faint orange.

THUD!

A final slam — and a crack splits open.

Light pours through the hole, blinding—

Then…

an eye.

A massive, bloodshot, inhuman eye peers through the crack — darting wildly, scanning.

Pupils dilate, locking directly onto the two children.

Cassie (screaming): D–DAMIEN!!

She grabs his arm and yanks him back — he's frozen, trembling, eyes wide with disbelief.

Damien (hoarse whisper): It's looking at us…

The eye twitches, and the thing behind it roars, a low guttural noise that rattles the trees.

Pieces of the wall begin tearing away as claw-like appendages scratch through the hole, widening it.

---

INT. UNDERGROUND MILITARY BASE – CONTROL ROOM – SAME TIME

Rows of glowing monitors. Soldiers rush between stations.

A red alarm blares through the metallic corridors.

On one large screen:

ALERT — DOME INTEGRITY BREACHED. SECTOR 7F.

A young woman in uniform, Lieutenant Aya Kuroda, stares in horror at her console.

Aya (whispering): No… no no no— this can't be happening.

She slams a key and grabs the comms mic.

Aya (into mic): Commander! We've got a breach! The dome's been compromised!

Sparks fly from one of the side terminals. The warning tone grows faster, more urgent.

Computer Voice (monotone):

Containment failure detected. Security protocol Omega-Nine initiated.

Aya looks up at the massive central display — the outside camera feed showing the forest flickering, the hole glowing faint red.

Aya (under her breath): …Someone's out there.

---

FOREST BEYOND THE FENCE – CONTINUOUS

Cassie drags Damien through the trees as the ground trembles.

Behind them, the roars grow louder — the hole in the wall widening, sparks of digital distortion spilling into the night.

Cassie (frantic): Move, Damien! MOVE!

Damien (snapping out of it): let's go!

They sprint through the darkness, branches snapping beneath their feet.

Behind them —

a claw bursts through the wall, tearing through the air like molten metal.

Cassie (crying): It's breaking through!

Damien (panting): Just run!

They leap over fallen logs, the monstrous roars echoing behind them.

The moonlight distorts — flickering between real and artificial as the world's edge collapses.

[CUT TO BLACK]

ALARM VOICE (echoing faintly):

Containment breach… Level One emergency…

Meanwhile at the broken edge... Three giant creatures walk inside with creepy smiles that stretches across their faces...
