In the northwestern reaches of the Beast Region lay a range of nameless mountains. The heavens suddenly split apart—a pitch-black spatial fissure hung in midair like the gaping maw of an abyss, tearing through the sky like shredded cloth. A 3rd Rank eagle-type Magical Beast, flying by unsuspectingly, crashed into the edge of the rift. Without even managing a cry, it was instantly shredded into a mist of blood by the power of space itself.
A moment later, Liu Xi stepped out from within the fissure. His gaze swept across the endless expanse of green forests and rolling mountains stretching as far as the eye could see.
"This is the northwest of the Beast Region," came a deep, rumbling voice from within the rift. A towering figure stood there, waving with a grin on his broad, square face. "I won't go further. You're friends acknowledged by my tribe—come visit again sometime!"
Liu Xi turned back, smiling as he cupped his fists. "Understood. This is far enough. Thank you, Brother Hei Qing!"
Hei Qing nodded, his massive body swelling before transforming into a gigantic black dragon. With a powerful sweep of his wings, he vanished into the clouds. The spatial rift before them closed rapidly, sealing shut in seconds.
"Young Master, where do we go now?" Xiao Yixian asked softly beside him. "Are we returning to Central Plains? If that Ice River Valley Master dares to appear again, I'll definitely protect you this time!"
Yao Tianhuo's eyes gleamed with anticipation. Once they returned to the Pill Region in Central Plains, and Liu Xi obtained the Pill Recipe for the Green Fungus Pill, he was confident the young man's alchemy skills would allow him to refine it soon—restoring Yao Tianhuo's peak strength in no time.
Just then, a faint azure lotus mark emerged on Liu Xi's forehead, radiating a subtle glow. A strange yet familiar feeling stirred in his heart.
Raising a brow, he turned toward the depths of the Beast Region, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. "Not yet. There's something here I must obtain. I can feel it—it can't be wrong."
Both Xiao Yixian and Yao Tianhuo exchanged surprised looks. Liu Xi hadn't mentioned anything before, yet now he spoke with absolute certainty. Xiao Yixian caught sight of the glowing lotus mark paired with Liu Xi's sharp features. 'Young Master's gotten even more handsome… heh~'
Yao Tianhuo followed Liu Xi's gaze toward the depths of the Beast Region and frowned slightly. 'Heading that far in… With my and Xiao Yixian's strength, even if danger arises, we should still be able to escape.'
"Let's move," Liu Xi said, stepping forward. "We'll proceed quietly, scout out the situation first, then decide our move."
In a flash, his figure turned into a streak of light darting toward the Beast Region's interior. Xiao Yixian and Yao Tianhuo immediately followed, concealing their powerful auras and slipping through the air with ease.
After their departure, silence returned to the mountains below. One by one, the local beast kings—massive Magical Beasts that had been hiding in their caves—cautiously poked their heads out. Feeling the oppressive aura fade, they all exhaled in relief.
They were seasoned creatures who understood the law of survival well—when it was time to tuck one's tail, they never dared act rashly. Any being capable of tearing space open like that was far beyond the reach of mere 7th Rank beasts.
Half a month later, in the central region of the Beast Domain, they arrived at the Beast Bone Mountain Range. Hidden behind a distant cliff, Liu Xi, Yao Tianhuo, and Xiao Yixian looked ahead. Massive cracks, each spanning thousands of feet, cut through the land like scars of war. Countless barren peaks jutted skyward, resembling the corpses of ancient beasts roaring in eternal defiance. Yin energy blanketed the mountains, murderous intent surging—clearly not a place of peace.
And indeed, it wasn't.
According to the intelligence Liu Xi gathered, this was the Beast Bone Mountain Range, also known as the Beast Tomb.
Legends said that in ancient times, two Saint Rank Magical Beasts had fought here, their battle so fierce that it shattered mountains and split the land apart—turning this once-lush region into a desolate graveyard. The sky had fallen dark that day; mountains crumbled and the earth split wide open. Countless beasts and plants were annihilated, leaving only ruin in their wake.
Though no beast dared seek revenge, the aftermath left the area lifeless. From then on, dying beasts unwilling to have their flesh devoured by others would come here to bury themselves. Even Magical Beasts, for all their long lifespans, could not escape death. Over countless years, unnumbered beasts buried themselves here—some of them even reaching the 8th Rank, the level of Beast Dou Zuns. For reasons unknown—perhaps reverence, perhaps fear—this place remained preserved, earning its infamous title: the Beast Tomb.
At some point, within this tomb, a strange phenomenon appeared—Blood Spirits.
These Blood Spirits retained the forms of the beasts they once were, their bodies wreathed in crimson flames. Bereft of reason, they attacked any intruder who entered the tomb. Soon, other beasts discovered that killing a Blood Spirit would yield a Blood Pearl. Consuming such a pearl strengthened one's blood essence, greatly benefiting cultivation.
The news spread quickly, causing a stir in the surrounding regions. However, the strongest Blood Spirit ever born here reached only the 7th Rank, so the true apex tribes paid it little attention.
Eventually, four dominant beast tribess—the Bear, Wolf, Tiger, and Leopard Tribes—claimed the territory. Each clan's patriarch was a Dou Zun, making them the overlords of the central Beast Region. To maintain the supply of Blood Spirits, they agreed to open the Beast Tomb for trials every ten years.
But Liu Xi wasn't here for the so-called Beast Tomb Trials—and besides, the next opening hadn't yet arrived. More importantly, a human like him wouldn't even qualify to enter.
Yao Tianhuo stood beside him, gazing at the towering, malevolent peaks. "Little friend, while the Blood Spirits here are indeed strange, they don't seem particularly useful to you at this stage."
Liu Xi smiled faintly. "True, the Blood Spirits themselves are of little use. But the source that created them—that's what I'm after."
His expression carried quiet confidence. Deep within this Beast Tomb lay the origin of that strange yet familiar feeling he'd sensed—the aura of a Heavenly Flame.
"Let's go."
With that, Liu Xi shot forward, with Yao Tianhuo and Xiao Yixian following close behind. They didn't soar openly through the sky but instead wove through the dense forests to avoid detection.
As they neared the tomb, the defenses grew tighter. Between two towering mountains lay the entrance—a massive crevice guarded by a bear-headed man and a tiger-headed man, both 7th Rank Magical Beasts. Around them patrolled numerous 5th and 6th Rank beasts.
The dying beasts who came to bury themselves here were allowed entry freely. These guards were stationed not to keep them out—but to stop Blood Spirit poachers.
After all, if too many Blood Spirits were slaughtered before the next trial, the so-called Beast Tomb Trials would lose their meaning entirely.
