Tricia's POV
I stayed in the room patiently as instructed by my supposed husband. I heard all Cherry said about him and prayed that he would be nice to me and not give in to their demands.
Soon, I drifted off and slept, but my sleep wasn't as sweet as I wanted, it was interrupted by a knock on my door. I got up with determination to talk back to whoever was at my door. By this, I would get to know if they fear my husband.
Opening the door with my mouth opened to shout at whoever it was, I closed it when I saw the tall figure standing next to me.
"Morgan!" I looked at his face. Why was he here? "Do you want anything?"
"I just want to see your face." I stared at him, confusion written all over my face.
Anyway, he was my husband, so I let out a smile.
"I am tired."
"You should be." He raised my head. "You should get back inside."
Such a weird behavior. Did he only come to see my face? I guess I am no longer sleepy. It felt boring to stay in the room, guess it's because I have never been here for long.
"Would you like to watch movies?" I heard from outside.
Do not tell me he is still by the door. I giggled, walking to the door.
While we were in the living room, I saw Cherry using a little face towel to wipe her sweat. Looking at Morgan, his attention wasn't on the screen, but on his phone. He busied himself pressing his phone.
Knowing that it would be rude to stare into his phone, I kept my gaze on the movie.
"I need to take this call." He said, getting up to his feet and walked away.
Cherry got into a heated argument with Alex in my presence, making me happy. I didn't know what they were arguing on, but they were arguing.
"Tell me what you want, Tricia." Cherry looked at me like I stole something from her, but before I could reply Morgan walked to my side.
He looked from me to Cherry and then asked if she was preparing dinner.
"Not my work," she said.
"Then it's Alex's."
Alex walked forward and rebuked Morgan, who gave him no regard. Minutes later, Alex succumbed to Morgan who smiled, giving Cherry a task to do.
Cherry left the house to get what my supposed husband requested of her to buy and returned minutes later, placing the item down.
"You will get out of this place, tomorrow." It was Cherry, she looked angry at Morgan.
I got up and did what was required as a wife to do, calming Morgan, but I guess he didn't want it as he shoved me away.
"Thankfully, you will no longer have a maid," Morgan smiled, and I guess the realization of what he said got to them.
Alex, who wasn't ready to give up, told him that they would kidnap me but Morgan only smiled. They went as far as calling Morgan a poor man.
Morgan received a call and went aside. It sounded like an urgent matter, but he acted normal.
The day sun began to go down, and Cherry left the house. I looked at Alex who was sad.
"Have you prepared dinner?" I asked, causing Morgan to look at me.
"You know that I can't cook." He answered.
Morgan pulled me back as I tried standing. He played with some numbers and placed an order.
He never ordered for Alex. I felt bad for him as I was eating my dinner. Who will be there for him?
"I will get some meal outside." He said.
"Well, you can also order," Morgan said.
****
The next day, I got up from the bed and had my bath remembering that I would be leaving this house. I felt a bereaved feeling rush over me as I remembered how I grew up.
My life has been in this building apart from my education. It would be nice going elsewhere but I felt a sense of belonging.
I heard a knock as I was putting on my earrings. It was Alex, but I didn't open for him. I didn't want to see anyone, except my husband this morning.
"Tricia, remember my mother took you as her child, do not forget her son." That was one of his ways of fooling me, but now it is not.
I didn't say a word as I listened to him.
Minutes later, I heard Morgan's voice. He asked if I was done, and I replied that I was coming out with my bag.
"You do not need to take anything from this house, save your phone."
My eyes blinked as I opened the door. Alex looked at us and asked what a poor man like Morgan could give me.
I sensed some truthfulness in his words, but remembering that I must always obey my husband I waved it away.
He may have some better female clothes in his house and enough to provide for us.
"I transferred twenty dollars to you," Morgan said.
Alex looked at him with a smile telling him that only a poor man would do that.
"Morgan, let's go," I was tired of Alex's words and would like to be alone with my husband.
Morgan looked at me with a bordering smile and sat on a couch.
"I thought you were leaving," Alex said, pride all over him.
"Where is your crazy girlfriend?" Morgan asked. "Won't you like her to see Tricia for the last time? Or is she still tired from the work she did yesterday?"
I walked to Morgan, pleading that we leave, but instead, he shouted at me, making Alex laugh.
"You insult us again and you will be taken down along with your small organization." Alex threatened.
With a smile on his face, Morgan walked to Alex and patted his back.
"See you whenever." With that, we left the house.
