Viona's POV
The strong wind from the helicopter on the hospital rooftop helipad had already dried my tears, leaving my eyes dry and stinging.
My fists clenched tightly at my sides in frustration as I watched Rafael still talking to another doctor.
No matter how stubbornly I insisted that I didn't need to reconsider anything about our relationship, and no matter how much I wanted to stop him from putting distance between us, it changed nothing.
Whatever noble reason he had for making this choice, I still wasn't enough to ease his pain.
I let out a shaky breath as he finally walked toward me to say goodbye.
His tired, sorrowful eyes met mine with a quiet sadness.
God...
I didn't want him to go.
I hurried forward to close the distance between us and wrapped my arms around him tightly.
"Go. Be safe," I whispered softly. "I'll wait here patiently. I'll wait for you. I won't give up on us."
I kissed his cheek twice before pulling back and holding his gaze.
