Chapter 63 - Limit Break

Scanning his updated status, he was left surprised, but then he read the notifications and everything became clear.

Firstly, he had earned 120 Harem Points in total from the two hours of love-making with Vivian, making his Harem Points count 139.

The rest 200 he received when Henry entered the office. At that moment, Vivian's desire to have an affair was satisfied, which earned him the bonus.

Secondly, the reason his [Physical] increased by forty two instead of sixty seven was because after eighty five Harem Points were used up and his physical stats were increased to fifty, the Harem Points needed to increase one stat point had risen from 5 to 10.

So, it took two hundred and fifty Harem Points to increase the stats from 50 to 75.

Thirdly, and the reason for his surprise, the increase in the Harem Points needed to level up was due to him increasing his physical stats beyond what was acceptable for level 4.

Since he had broken a limit, he needed to pay more Harem Points to level up and ensure nothing unexpected happened during the leveling up process.

'So, I can earn bonus Harem Points by satisfying their fantasies? Then why didn't I earn it with Ruth?' He wondered.

'Did I fail to satisfy her fantasies?' He thought, feeling it wasn't the likely reason.

Shaking his head, he used the stat adjustment opportunity, and extracted some of the Harem Points from the [Physical] and put them into [Spiritual], increasing it from 11 to 50.

As a result, the [Physical] fell from 75 to 54.

Immediately, a cooling sensation surged into his mind, giving him an unprecedented clarity of thought. He felt calm and in control. It was an amazing feeling, unfortunately, it didn't last long. Still, he still felt that he was mentally stronger now.

He then slowly clenched his fist.

"Hiss!"

Immediately, a stinging pain shot through him because he had strained his torn muscles and skin.

After the pain subsided, he sighed in relief because even though he still felt some pressure of his surging strength, it wasn't nearly as overwhelming as before.

Glancing at the level progression bar and saw the required points to level up to level 5 had decreased to 60.

'I need to be careful to not accidently break the limits again.' He thought, his brows furrowed.

While he knew increasing his stats as much as he could before leveling up would make him way stronger than others of the same level even if they were awakeners and had practiced martial arts, he felt doing so wasn't a good idea since he didn't have any bottleneck in leveling up and several things only worked well when his level wasn't lacking.

[Discerning Eyes] for example. If he was on the same level as Jamie, he could have seen his information and then, perhaps there would have been no need to fight him to make him submit.

Dismissing these thoughts with an inward shake of his head, he frowned, 'Now, how do I heal these injuries?'

He was about to open the system shop to see if he could find some cheap healing item, when he realized that Jamie was still kneeling in front of him and Jack, Henry and others were still staring at him, wide-eyed.

"Rise." He commanded Jamie before looking at Jack, "Help me to the infirmary."

Jamie stood up, wincing slightly because Max's slam had rattled his bones and almost ruptured his organs.

Snapping back to his senses, Jack rushed over, feeling slightly confused about the order.

But when he came closer, he noticed Max's sleeves and one leg of his pants seemed wet. Then he noticed some blood pooled around his foot on the ground and his pupils constricted and he subconsciously glanced at Jamie.

"Don't worry about him. He won't harm us now." Max said, his voice calm, "Just hurry up and take me to the infirmary. I need to get patched up before I lose too much blood."

"Yes, Sir." Jack nodded, and came over to support him before leading him away. Jamie followed after them, staring at Max's back in confusion.

Did he really believe him so much to risk his life?

Henry and others watched them leave before someone looked at the puddle of blood Max left behind and then place where Jamie was slammed and asked.

"How come Sir Max got injured when that burly guy was the one who got the beating?"

"Don't know. Maybe he was already injured before? You know, it mustn't have been easy to kill almost a hundred people all on his own." Someone else muttered.

Henry stared in the direction Max and others left, his brows furrowed in thought.

'Just what happened during that split second?'

He, for sure, knew Max wasn't injured beforehand because not only had he seen him after he was done killing all those people outside, just earlier, he had been having sex and from the state of the room and how sweaty he was, he had exerted himself quite a bit. How could an injured person do that?

Thinking about what he had seen in the office, he became distracted and his breathing rate increased.

"Hey, Officer Henry. You alright?" The person standing next to him nudged him, a little concerned upon noticing his unusual behaviour.

"Ah, yeah. I'm alright. I was just thinking about something." Henry said before saying, "Alright, you guys. I'm going home now. You keep watch. If something happens, do alert me and others."

"Sure. Go ahead, man."

...

In the infirmary, Max had Jack take off his clothes and wrap his hands and leg with bandages.

Once Jack was done, Max stayed in the infirmary for a while and after seeing he had stopped oozing blood, he had Jack drop him off at the front of his office and ordered him to find an accommodation for Jamie.

After they left, he opened the door and saw the office had been tidied up and Vivian was nowhere to be seen, which made him frown.

He had come here, despite his injuries, to earn some Harem Points from her by doing some activities which didn't require much physical effort such as kissing and fingering.

If he remembered correctly, he could earn 15 points from kissing each of his harem members daily and the fingering gave him 5 points.

Even if it didn't give him more points upon doing multiple times, he could still earn 20 Harem Points since he hasn't gotten any points from kissing Vivian, and hopefully the 24 Harem Points in total he would have would be enough for him to buy something to heal his injuries.

But with Vivian gone, he had to give up on—

Creak!

Right then, the door of the attached washroom opened. He looked over and saw Vivian. Immediately, his eyes lit up and he sighed in relief.

If she had indeed left, he would have no choice but to either go home to Natalie or to Ruth's and then wait for the next day before he could earn some points from them and buy some healing item.

But if he had done so, not only would it have wasted a significant portion of the already very little time he had left, but it also would have worried Natalie and Ruth, which he did not want.

Fortunately, it hadn't come to this.

"Ahh! What happened!"

Just then, Vivian's shocked and horrified gasp brought him back to his senses.

"Help me to the sofa. I'll tell you." said Max calmly, a small smile on his face which he put on to help Vivian relax a little.

But he underestimated just how much she cared for him and as a result, how worried she would be to see him wrapped in bandages.

Swoosh!

She rushed over, her eyes already wet with tears, and looked at him up and down, her lips trembling.

"T-This... How did it happen?"

Max sighed inwardly and repeated his words, "Help me in and I'll tell you. And don't worry, it's not as bad as it looks."

"O-Okay." Vivian nodded and very gently, she put his hand over her shoulder before wrapping her arm around his waist and taking him over to the sofa.

She was extremely careful and walked very slow, worried that she might hurt him if she walked just a bit faster.

This made Max smile wryly, but he was also touched.

A minute later, he finally reached the sofa, and sat down.

He then looked at Vivian, looking at him worriedly, smiled and patted the seat next to him, "Don't keep standing there, come sit beside me."

Vivian nodded and sat down, crystalline tear drops glistening on her eyelashes.

"I'm fine, really." Max said again, seeing she looked to be on the verge of crying.

But the next moment, he became dumbfounded because instead of helping her relax, his words somehow made her let out choked sobs and cry.

'Did I say I'm not fine?' He thought, but was sure he hadn't used the 'not'.

"Hey, Aunt Vivian, if you are going to cry, I'll just leave. Do you want that?" He coldly said, placing his hands on the sofa, looking as if he was really going to leave if she did not stop.

"N-No, I'm not crying. I-I mean I won't cry, so don't move. You'll hurt yourself." Vivian hurriedly said, wiping her tears but it made no difference as more replaced them.

Feeling defeated, Max sighed in his heart, 'I should have taken some of those emotion related classes.'

Knowing he wouldn't be able to console her, at least not while being wrapped in bandages, he looked at her and raised his hand toward her while enduring the pain this action made him feel, "Come here."

Immediately, Vivian leaned over and pressed her cheek against his palm. "What is—"

Max pressed his lips against hers, silencing her.

Vivian's eyes widened for a bit before she closed her eyes and began kissing him back, but she made sure her movements were gentle.

Max licked, sucked and nibbled on her thin but soft lips for a minute or two before involving his tongue and deepening the kiss.

Though Vivian had cleaned her mouth, he could still faintly taste himself on her tongue. He frowned slightly, but since he was in a hurry and Vivian was currently unstable, he ignored it and continued kissing her.

Initially, despite returning the kiss, Max could feel Vivian was a bit stiff, but as seconds ticked by and he began kissing her with passion, she slowly relaxed, making him sigh in relief.

Mm~ Hm~ Ha~

A few minutes later, upon feeling she was short on breath, he disengaged, looking at her beautiful, rosy face.

Ha~

Vivian took a deep breath and opened her eyes. Seeing Max looking at her with a hungry, desire-filled gaze, she felt her heart pound, and her pussy twitch. But then she remembered he was injured and...

Just as guilt and worry were about to overcome her mind once again, Max leaned in and kissed her again.

This time, the kiss lasted even longer. Only when she was completely breathless did he pull away, a glistening string of saliva stretching between their lips which broke a moment later.

Max looked at her hazy eyes and smirked, "You calm now?"

"Mm. I am." Vivian nodded, a blush adorning her face, making her look charming and very delectable.

"Very good." Max smiled and explained how he got injured.

Once he finished speaking, he noticed that Vivian was looking at him with a peculiar look in her eyes.

Smiling wryly, he asked, "What is it?"

"Do you really expect me to believe you got so seriously injured just because you weren't able to control your strength properly? Who do you think I am, a child?" She pursed her lips.

Max sighed, "I don't, but it's really what happened."

Vivian shook her head, deciding to not force him to tell the truth since he was unwilling. But she couldn't help but ask, "So, did you... kill that guy?"

"So what if I did? Would that make any difference?" Max countered, looking at him with raised brows.

"No." Vivian shook her head, "It would not."

Since she had already reconciled with the fact of him killing almost a hundred people, one more wasn't going to make a difference. Especially when the other party wasn't someone innocent.

Hearing this and seeing it really did not make her think of him differently, Max smiled in satisfaction and pecked her lips before saying, "I did not kill him. Instead, I took him in."

"What?!" Vivian looked at him in astonishment. "But did he not come to—"

"Take my mother away." Max finished and nodded, "Yes. But someone else had sent him, who this guy apparently hates and wants to kill too. Besides, as I told you, he is very strong and will be very helpful."

"I see." Vivian nodded. Then after hesitating for a few seconds, she asked, "Does he know martial arts?"

Max looked at her in surprise, having not expected her to ask this out of nowhere.

"You know about martial artists?" He asked,

"I don't know much of anything." Vivian shook her head, and explained, "A few times, I have come across your uncle Mark and others practicing and fighting against each other. I didn't know what they were doing, and asked uncle Robert, who had said that they were practicing martial arts."

"I hadn't thought much of it until now, but upon hearing you say how powerful this guy is and how you injured yourself just because you couldn't control your strength, which I still does not believe by the way, it made me think that if you guys were martial artists like those in the animes Alex used to watch, your words would make more sense."

Pausing for a moment, she looked at him, surprise clear on her face, "But seeing how you responded to my question, unless you are pranking me, I think it is true?"

She finished in a questioning tone.
