Chapter 62 - Face Off

At first Max thought Henry had somehow found out that he was fucking his wife, but the next moment, he knew this wasn't the case because Henry had an extremely grim and somewhat panicked expression on his face.

"What's wrong?" Max asked,

"Sir, there is a situation. Someone has come with ill intentions and is asking for you." Henry explained.

"Is that so?" Max narrowed his eyes, a little surprised. ๐™›๐’“๐“ฎ๐™š๐”€๐’†๐’ƒ๐“ท๐’๐“ฟ๐™š๐“ต.๐™˜๐’๐’Ž

Given how the people behind the scene had been acting, gathering masses to attack the mansion instead of doing it themselves, he had thought they weren't willing to face them themselves just yet for whatever reasons. So, he hadn't expected them to appear so openly so soon.

As for why he immediately assumed this person was Samuel's goon, it was simply because no one else in the Red City would dare to confront the Governor's Mansion, especially not after the news of him slaughtering all those people must have spread.

"Let's go." He said, not bothering to wipe his sweat or fix his hair.

Henry followed him out, but not before taking a quick glance at the messy room and the person lying on the sofa, covered with the blanket.

"Sir Williams, this person is very dangerous. He is covered with blood completelyโ€”he had probably slaughtered many people. And even more horrifying, guns aren't effective against him. Jack and I had fired a few shots, but he only grunted before rushing up to us." He said while walking out of the administration building.

"Fortunately, he didn't seem keen on attacking us, otherwise Jack and I would have already been killed."

Max glanced at him, surprised.

He knew Henry had seen the mess he and Vivian made during the past two hours and had smelt the intense smell of sex.

Moreover, he should have seen Vivian's clothes and her shoes strewn about the room, and should have realized it was Vivian under the blanket.

But even so, he didn't look angry, heartbroken or sad.

'Could it be that he didn't recognise her clothes and shoes and thinks I was with someone else?' Max wondered and nodded to himself. This was likely the case.

'I should be more careful from now on.' He thought.

While he didn't fear Henry, and deep down he even wanted him to find out, or catch him and Vivian fucking for the thrill he would feel, he knew Vivian didn't want the same.

"So, please be careful sir." Henry said.

"Don't worry." Max nodded and they soon arrived at the mansion's gate where Jack and a few others were standing on the side, uneasily looking at a hulking man, who was standing there with his eyes closed.

As if sensing Max's gaze, he opened his eyes which immediately narrowed when he saw Max.

"Are you a Williams?" Jamie asked.

'Hm?' Max raised his brows in surprise. Even the ancient families' people shouldn't be able to tell whether someone was from the Williams family or not just based on the looks, especially because neither he, nor his father had any special features.

But this scary looking guy guessed it.

"Yes. I am." Max nodded before asking, "How did you guess?"

Jamie did not answer and instead asked, "How are you related to Arthur Williams?"

"Arthur?" Max frowned. The name was unfamiliar.

"Hm, so you aren't related to him?" Jamie muttered.

Max shook his head, "I don't know because other than my father, I haven't met any other Williams."

"I understand." Jamie nodded and glancing at Henry, he said, "Seeing he brought you here, I take it that you are the person in charge of this place?"

"Yes." Max nodded, "Now, you tell me, did Samuel Brown send you?"

"That's correct." Jamie nodded.

"You are here to take my mother away?" Max asked.

Hearing this, Jamie frowned, "That woman... Sarah, she is your... mother?"

Max looked at him strangely, not understanding what was going on in his mind. Still, he nodded in confirmation and to his surprise, realized he wasn't feeling annoyed.

Normally, if someone had asked him so many questions while ignoring his question, he would have lost his patience already and adding the fact he was here for his mother, he would have attacked him, but he was strangely calm.

After staying silent for a while, Jamie said, "I'm sorry, but I have to take her away."

Max's gaze darkened hearing this.

Step! Step! Step!

He walked toward him with slow steps and curiously asked, "Why are you sorry?"

"Because you look similar to Mr. Arthur, who is my benefactor. He did me a life-saving favor a few years ago." Jamie said, calmly looking at him.

"I see." Max said and continued walking towards him. When he was in front of him, he stopped and slowly raised his hand.

Jamie stared at him, a slightly perplexed look in his eyes. Then, he watched as Max put that hand on his shoulder.

Tap!

Immediately, his pupils constricted because he felt as if it wasn't Max's hand that was on his shoulder, but a heavy iron pillar, causing him to sink a few inches, his knees bending down a little.

Creak! Creak!

Staring down at Maxโ€”because he was 7 feet tall, over a foot taller than Maxโ€”with some surprise in his otherwise emotionless deep brown eyes, Jamie began to straighten his knees.

But to his astonishment, he realized no matter how much strength he used, he could not stand up straight. And as he began using more and more of his strength, his shoulder bones and knees began to creak as though they were going to break.

Finally, his expression changed, becoming grim.

"You are very strong." He said,

Max took his hand back and looking at him with an indifferent look in his eyes, he asked, "Are you confident in taking her away with me here?"

Shua!

In response, Jamie suddenly clenched his fist and punched toward his head. The punch was so fast that it made wind whistle around it.

Jack, Henry and others' hearts skipped a beat and their eyes widened in horror. However, before they could even shout a warning...

Bang!

They saw Jamie being lifted in the air and then being slammed into the hard concrete ground.

They were stunned. Everything had happened so fast that they hadn't seen what had just happened.

With a dark look on his face, Max lifted his foot and slammed it towards Jamie's head.

Jamie watched the foot descend, a resigned look appearing on his face. He was unwilling to die right now. He had yet to avenge his younger sister.

However, the impact had briefly paralyzed him. So, no matter how unwilling he was or how much he wanted to dodge, he had no choice but to watch helplessly as Max's foot descended and took his life.

Bang!

The foot heavily landed, creating a loud banging noise, however, it didn't land on his head but right beside it.

Jamie looked at Max, stunned. Just when he was thinking why he didn't kill him, he saw Max look down at him, pity clear in his eyes which made his heart burn, and heard him say.

"Don't throw your life away for someone unworthy. Now, I'm giving you another chance, become my subordinate and you'll get whatever you truly desire."

...

Max really wanted to kill him.

Not only did he disrespect him by ignoring his question in the beginning, and made it clear he wanted to take his mother away, he also did not back down when he showed him he was stronger than him and instead chose to attack him.

But the only reason he did not do so was because at the last moment, a system screen had appeared in front of him.

[Alert! An urgent quest has been issued!]

[Quest: Make Jamie Ryder submit and take you as his master.]

[Quest Rewards: One stat adjustment opportunity.]

[Punishment Upon Failure: None]

[Accept (Yes)/(No)]

After seeing what the reward was, he changed his mind.

As for why he did it... It was because when he tried to scan Jamie when he saw him, he had failed.

This meant Jamie was a higher level person, and seeing how the bullets couldn't kill him, he was also proficient in some martial arts.

Realizing this, Max guessed that despite his 33 points in physical, he wouldn't be his match, especially because Jamie seemed like a seasoned fighter.

So, when Jamie made it clear that he was going to take Sarah away despite his somewhat mellow attitude, without hesitation, he put all the Harem Points he earned from Vivian, and the ones he previously had into his physical.

Then, he bitterly endured the agonizing pain on his slow walk to Jamie. He could feel he had become a lot stronger, but he could hardly control all that power.

This was why he simply extended his hand, placed it on his shoulder and pressed down.

Just this simple action had almost caused his skin and muscles to tear up, but fortunately, they did not.

Unfortunately, however, he failed to scare Jamie into retreating, or maybe Jamie had felt that he could defeat him in combat despite Max's superior physical strength, and chose to attack him.

At that moment, he had cursed his bad luck because now he had to exert himself which would result in him getting injured, ironically, due to his own strength.

He wasn't a masochist and thus wasn't a fan of hurting himself, but Jamie was forcing him by attacking him.

Enraged, he threw caution to the wind, grabbed his arm before his punch smashed apart his head, and raised him high in the air before slamming him down with all his strength, knocking out all the air from his lungs.

Though it had been surprisingly easy, and felt really cool, in that moment, he had felt all the muscles from his shoulders to his wrists twist and snap and skin tear apart, effectively crippling his arms.

This enraged him even more and seeing Jamie wasn't dead, he raised his leg and smashed it towards his head.

Just before his foot was about to connect and shatter his head, the system screen appeared, giving him the solution to the problem he created for himself.

Of course, if Jamie refused to submit, he wouldn't mind injuring his remaining uninjured leg to kill him.

...

After Jamie stared at him for a while, he finally opened his mouth and said something that almost made Max want to kill him on the spot.

"Are you sure you are not related to Arthur Williams?"

Max's expression grew colder. This guy wasn't taking him seriously.

Then, suddenly, his pupils constricted as a thought crossed his mind.

'Has he noticed that I can't use my hands and legs to fight now?'

Though he was standing upright and blood hadn't soaked his shirt or pants yet and he also hadn't shown it on his face, he didn't know if a seasoned fighter like Jamie could still notice any abnormality in spite of all that.

As if to prove his fears true, Jamie, upon seeing the slight constricting of his pupils, smiled, "Don't worry, I'm not going to take advantage of your current weakness." ๐š๐•ฃ๐•–๐šŽ๐š ๐šŽ๐š‹๐š—๐จ๐ฏ๐•–๐•.๐•”๐จ๐•ž

Max stared at him unblinkingly, thinking if he should kill him right now, but right then, Jamie raised his hand and clenched his fingers and twisted his arm around, saying,

"See, I had regained mobility a moment after you finished speaking. If I wanted to, I could have attacked you already."

Max nodded at him in understanding and then expressionlessly asked, "So, what's going to be your answer?"

"Don't kill Samuel Brown, or at least let me have the finishing blow. If you give me your word that you'll do it, I will be willing to serve you." Jamie plainly said.

"Sure. I will let you have the finishing blow." Max agreed.

Jamie sat up and took a knee in front of him, his head lowered, "Then, I'm willing to serve you, Sir Williams."

"Good." Max nodded in satisfaction and glanced at the quest screen.

[Ding! Quest, make Jamie Ryder submit and take you as his master, has been completed!]

[Ding! Congratulations! You have been rewarded with one stat adjustment opportunity.]

Seeing this, Max sighed in relief and with a thought, pulled up his status screen.
