Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Song That Heals the City

The days in Musutafu began to change—quietly, almost imperceptibly at first.

It started with a breeze that carried music.

Every evening, as dusk descended and the streets grew tired from the day's bustle, a soft melody would drift through the air. It wasn't broadcasted or recorded. It simply… existed. A voice that seemed to echo from the heart of the city itself.

No one knew where it came from.

No device could track it.

Yet everyone who heard it felt the same thing—hope.

Mothers found their crying children soothed.

Workers burdened by exhaustion felt a lightness in their chest.

Even the elderly said their joints ached less when that song passed through the evening air.

The city began to whisper of her.

They called her "The Divine Songstress," "The Angel of Musutafu," or simply "The Mysterious Singer."

But Kagome Inoue knew nothing of these rumors.

She only sang as she cleaned the pews, dusted the windows, and tended the small garden outside the church. Her voice was gentle—neither loud nor commanding—but carried an undeniable warmth. When she sang, her quirk pulsed unconsciously, spreading harmonic waves that reached far beyond the chapel walls.

To her, it was a habit born from kindness.

To the people, it was a miracle.

---

Far across the city, a Pro Hero patrol unit stopped to listen.

"Hey, do you hear that?" one asked, looking up from his communicator.

The other nodded slowly. "Yeah… it's strange. I suddenly feel like—everything's gonna be alright."

Even villains, hiding in the shadows, found themselves pausing. The melody didn't judge or accuse—it simply… healed. Some even turned back from crimes that night, unsure why their hearts suddenly ached with guilt.

---

Kagome would sometimes step outside after finishing her chores, standing beneath the fading sunset, the wind brushing through her golden hair. The city below glittered with lights, unaware of the quiet girl watching over them.

She'd smile softly, unaware that her song had reached every corner.

"I wonder if people are happy tonight," she would murmur to herself.

---

And yet… fate always listens.

In the following weeks, two very different men began to seek the source of the mysterious melody.

Hawks, the carefree hero with sharp ears, made it a small mission of his own to locate the singer.

"Whoever's behind that voice," he said with a grin, "they're doing more good than half of us heroes combined."

Meanwhile, Dabi, restless and sleepless, found himself haunted by the sound. Each time he heard the faint melody in the wind, his chest tightened with emotions he thought long dead.

"It's just a song," he growled to himself. "Why the hell can't I forget it?"

Neither realized their paths would soon cross—with the same girl who had no idea that her gentle gift had touched both hero and villain hearts alike.
