Chapter 3 - New life (2)

So, it's been a week in my new life as Ley Zora, and let me tell you, it's been rough. Okay, not really. It's been a non-stop vacation fueled by the inheritance of a dead hero. Eat, play video games, sleep. Repeat. The life of a rich neet.

"Hmmm hmmm," I hummed, pondering life's greatest question. "Pizza or burger today? Maybe both? What's the point of having limitless wealth if you can't indulge every whim?" I mused as I idled on a fantasy game where skill is supposedly everything. (Spoiler alert: I'm mostly buying my way to victory).

"Ah, life is sure enjoyable when you're rich," I sighed dramatically. "Wait, why would I even want to awaken? This is paradise! Adventure? Danger? Pfft, pass. I'd rather order the latest 7810000 series computer and binge-watch anime."

"I should order- UGHH!"

I didn't even get to finish my brilliant, life-altering decision before I was slammed with a pain so intense it made my eyeballs sweat.

"Wait… unbearable pain… am I… awakening? Finally? Or am I just having a really, really bad case of indigestion?" I clutched my chest dramatically. "How do people survive this? I'm pretty sure I'm about to pass out." My body was sweating so profusely I could probably water a small garden. Thank God for advanced air conditioning. Gotta prioritize comfort, after all.

Moments later, post-awakening…

"Hmm? Why is it so dark? Did the power go out? Wait, this world isn't even powered by electricity! Is this the start of a dungeon raid or something?" I flailed blindly.

I tried to open my eyes. Nothing.

Tried again. Still nothing.

"Okay, universe, are you serious right now? Are you seriously pulling the 'blindness' card on me? Is this some kind of twisted isekai trope I didn't sign up for?" My heart pounded like a drum solo in a heavy metal concert.

"There's no way I'm blind, right? No way, it's absolutely impossible! I need to see the new character designs in my game!"

My thoughts were immediately proven wrong. The "Status" screen usually pops up in front of your eyes, but since I'm currently operating with zero visibility, it decided to narrate my stats directly into my ears. Which is incredibly inconvenient. "Thanks for the consideration, system!" I mentally grumbled.

"No way… I'm blind? Me, blind? I didn't even get to finish the game! And what about the limited edition Blu-ray box set I just ordered?" Tears welled up in my now-useless eyes. I continued to whine, wallowing in self-pity.

But then, as I reluctantly listened to my stats and my awakened ability… a grin spread across my face. "Okay, maybe this isn't so bad after all…"
