Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Startled to hear the same exact voice that startled her earlier, Lune snapped her head backwards only to come face to face with the same strange man in his immaculate white shirt, green blazer, green trouser and green gem piece.

Confused why he was behind her instead of the far corner of the room with ripped clothing and blood pouring from his wounds, Lune snapped her head back to where the strange man was supposed to be, only to see that version of him melt into a puddle.

"A puddle?" Lune asked in confusion.

"But how?" Lune said before she was trapped in a cocoon of water.

Trying desperately to hold her breath, Lune tried to think of something to escape. Tapping her tool belt, Sonne tried to pull out a project of hers that could help but her new project slipped through her grip. As the child panicked the strange man stared at the little girl curiously.

"You know you can breathe in that right?" the strange man said and Lune looked at him like he had just insulted her.

" I am serious this isn't a trick" the man said, giving Lune an honest smile but Lune didn't buy it.

"If you don't believe me just feel." the strange man said, going closer to the water cocoon.

"I am sure a wild lass like you can tell the difference between how you felt holding your breath in the bath tub and this cocoon." The strange man said encouragingly but Lune still didn't buy it.

"You are so distrustful." The strange man said in a deflated tone.

"But it doesn't matter." the strange man said, leaning on his staff.

"You will run out of air soon enough" the strange man said half shrugging.

Struggling not to breathe, the child accidentally inhaled on instinct. Knowing that she had just made a mistake the little girl panicked as she waited for the eventual flow of water to flow into her nostrils but after waiting one, two, three seconds the child realised she could breathe.

Confused, the girl closed her eyes and felt like the strange man suggested and after a moment she realised there was a thin layer of air surrounding her. Confused for probably the hundredth time since Lune met the stranger, Lune stared at the strange man questionably.

Coming out of Lune's thinkering room, the strange man walked down the stairs and waltzed right into the King's study.

Announcing loudly to the two individuals embracing in the middle of the room the stranger said "You should have told me that you have a feisty kid."

Turning around, the Queen with her dark blue hair, light green eyes and her dark blue dress with golden highlights smiled mischievously at her brother.

"I told you she was blessed by the spirit of fire." she said innocently.

"But you didn't tell me she was this gutsy." The Queen's brother said pointing at his niece.

Turning to his niece, the Queen's Brother asked

"You created a distraction with the exploding powder. Why didn't you run to get help?"

"To get to my thinkering room, you must have bypassed all the guards or even killed them. I felt-" the girl said before stopping.

"Go on." the Queen's brother encouraged.

"I felt that I had to stop you." Lune said, looking at the Queen's brother in his emerald coloured eyes.

Gushing at her daughter's proclamation the Queen turned to her brother with her hands on her hips.

"Release my baby." The queen said with a scowl and her little brother mimicked her before rolling his eyes and tapping his staff on the floor.

Watching intently from her place inside the water cocoon, Lune noticed three things.

One, the staff glowed blue as the water cocoon surrounding Lune dropped her gently to the floor, two the water flowed back into the staff and three the staff glowed green when the little air barrier was released.

Confused again but choosing to dismiss it, Lune ran into her mom's outstretched arms.

"My beautiful girl." the queen said, twirling her daughter.

"You have been gone for far too long, mother." Lune said.

"Aww my little baby." The queen said, kissing Lune all over her face.

"Mama will never leave your side until you're sick of me." the queen said, rocking Lune side to side.

"But you called me dramatic when I said I missed you." The King said, looking at the queen with a betrayed face.

"You and Lune are not the same." the queen said sassily and the king placed his hands on his chest as if he had been shot.

"While I hate to interrupt this wonderful moment." The Queen's brother said, coming to stand before the King and Queen.

"I would like it if I were introduced." The Queen's brother said.

For a second nobody said anything until the Queen's brother gestured to himself and then to Lune.

"Oh! Where are my manners?" the Queen said, dropping Lune.

"Go on." The queen said, urging Lune forward.

"This is my beloved brother." The queen said, gesturing to the man with dark green hair and emerald coloured eyes.

"Blessed by the spirit of fire." The queen said with a proud smile on her lips.

"This is your uncle, Pyralex Wyren. "
