Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

After playing nonstop with Alex for a week, Felix returned to work to update Splatoon.

He explained the battle modes to Jalen and Kael.

League Battle is a team-based ranked mode where you play with friends in pairs or trios, competing against other teams.

Private Battles are custom matches you can create with friends, choosing rules, maps, and modes.

Other new modes would take more time to develop, he left those to his team.

Felix assigned Niko to create a new species for the game.

The in-game playable species were only Inklings, as in Splatoon 1 from his previous life, and Octolings, added in Splatoon 2, he wanted to introduce something new.

Niko, knowledgeable about aquatic species, presented a design based on jellyfish.

The character had transparent, glossy hair with subtle color shifts, different from the two existing species.

Felix liked the unique look, and Niko assured him she could handle it alone, he approved the addition.

As for him, he decided to create a horror game.

He opened the system to check how many coins he had accumulated: [2,132]

Not bad.

Enough to buy an AA game if he wanted. But the idea of diving straight into a large world building felt overwhelming.

His current skills and resources weren't enough to handle such a vast and complex project.

He recalled that horror was a niche genre.

When he added the horror tag to Temple Run, a flood of player complaints followed. Curious, Felix searched the horror category in the system's marketplace.

The screen lit up with dozens of titles, ranging from subtle psychological thrillers to brutal survival horrors.

One title caught his eye: [Silent Hill]

He quickly dismissed it.

That level of fear would terrify most interstellar players, many of whom were new to horror games.

He knew from experience that if gameplay was too harsh or intense too soon, players would simply avoid it.

Horror had to be carefully balanced, easing players in without overwhelming them.

For now, he wanted to find or create something that blended suspense and mystery without scaring away the casual audience.

Interseller players were used to physically using their bodies in games.

They were not familiar with horror games that did not involve much physical action to attack entities or other humans.

Felix had already created Subway Surfer and Temple Run, where players only needed to run and avoid obstacles.

Over time, interseller players had grown accustomed to that style of gameplay.

He was unsure if players would quickly adapt to horror games where physical attacks were limited or absent.

Felix looked at the title hovering in front of him and chose a horror game from his childhood called [Granny]In this game, the NPC Granny slowly chases you through a dark, creaky house.

The Granny quickly became popular, inspiring many other horror games with similar game mechanics.

You can always see her moving in the distance, her slow but relentless footsteps echoing on the wooden floors.

The game's main mechanic is simple: if you step on a creaky floorboard, it makes a loud noise that alerts Granny, and she immediately heads straight to your location.

The gameplay is easier compared to other horror games. Your goal is to escape by either unlocking the front door or sneaking into the garage to fix the old car before Granny catches you.

There is a new remake of Granny with much better graphics. The textures of the peeling walls, dusty furniture, and cracked floorboards are more detailed, making the house feel more realistic and tense.

Shadows flicker in the corners, and the sound design is sharper with every creak and groan, adding to the suspense.

The remake also introduced a multiplayer mode with a new NPC called Grandpa.

He uses advanced pathfinding AI to chase players, set traps, and patrol a much larger map.

This forces players to work together, communicate, and plan carefully to survive.

The storyline wasn't very compelling.

There was no real story like the developers didn't focus on a narrative to tell.

This game was mainly known for speedrunning and quick escapes.

Felix looked at the bundle of [Granny] games priced at 1,086 coins.

He furrowed his eyebrows.

It made sense to bundle the official games together, "but why was Granny Simulator included as well?"

That was a multiplayer game where two players could be either the granny or the baby.

The granny player had to complete objective tasks, while the baby player have to stop the granny.

The most frustrating part was that this game wasn't even part of the original Granny horror games.

"Is this scum? " He doesn't even want that game.

The System who was silent for a long period of time:

[ What's unfair host?]

Felix was stunned when he saw this.

He was shocked because it had been so long since he last heard from the System that he almost forgot it existed.

Felix raised his eyebrows. "Why is Granny Simulator in the same bundle as Granny? And what does it mean by exclusive free Granny Simulator? If Granny Simulator wasn't there in the first place the price would be cheaper!"

Granny Simulator cost 159 coins, the same as the original Granny.

It reminded him of items he wanted to buy before, where they would add extra things like a bag or water bottle to make the price higher depending on the brand.

[ Host, there is a Granny included in the title.]

Hearing this, Felix looked at the ceiling and then at the System's transparent message.

His finger tapped the hologram pad in sleek white and swiped through the changing messages.

He looked at the System shop and reluctantly bought the bundle.

Now he had [ 1,046] coins left.
