After being congratulated by the rest of my colleagues,I moved outside to search for Herman but he was nowhere to be seen…I tried calling on his phone but still he didn't pick up and this made me restless because I know when he's not in a good mood,he is capable of doing something stupid.
I first rushed back inside and talked to my boss before leaving,
"Uhm excuse me sir,can I talk to you for a second please?" I found him talking to some colleagues before excusing himself.
"Yes Ava what is it??" he asked me.
"Uhm sir, I would like to thank you for this party and most of all for the promotion because I really needed it…" I thanked him.
"No, don't mention it Ava,we both know that there's no one here who deserves it better than you," he replied with a warm smile.
"Thank you so much sir,but I'm going to take my leave because my husband is not feeling well," I uttered.
"Okay but Ava this was your party and everyone is here for your sake,so it won't be cool if you leave before anyone does," he tried to explain it to me and I truly understood but I also needed to look for my husband.
"Okay Ava I get it…you go right ahead and take care of your husband,I'll find a way to handle the rest of the guests," he assured me.
"Thank you so much," I hugged him but after pulling out of the hug,I saw Herman standing at the entrance staring at me with burning eyes full of anger.
I ran after him calling out his name but it was all in vain…I finally caught up with him before he entered his car.
"Babe at least hear me out please," I tried holding his hand but he jacked me off.
"It's not what you're thinking…" I was trying to make a point when he cut me off.
"Ava if you're more interested in him than me then why the hell are you playing us?? Choose one and go with him other than keeping one in the dark like a fool," he blurted.
"Babe of course it's you I love and that's why I came running after you because you're my man…I would have stayed back in there if it was my boss in my heart but that's not the case," I lightly touched on his shoulder.
"Your words contradict your actions…I found you hugging him and that's enough proof to show that you two have something going on because I have never seen you hugging anyone around here so why him?? Please go back in there and have fun," he opened his car and drove off at full speed.
"Babeee…,"I tried running after his car but it was far gone.
"Is everything okay??" I heard my boss' voice behind me.
"What are you doing here?" I sobbed while cleaning tears off my cheeks.
"I overheard your argument with Herman and I'm sorry that I'm the cause of your fight,"he sternly looked at me and offered some tissue to clean my face.
I was about to grab the tissue but he lifted his hand and cleaned my face.
"How are you going to get home??" He asked me.
"Uhm I'm going to use my car,thanks for asking," I turned to move towards my car but then he held my hand by the elbow and made me stop.
"Ava you can't drive in such a condition…let me help and drop you off please," he offered to help.
I tried to get out of his grip but he pulled me towards him and I bumped myself on his hard chest…our eyes met and we felt each other's heartbeat.
"Please let me help and drive you home," he whispered his husky voice in my ear with his hot breath touching my neck.
"Okay okay let's go," I gave in then he let me go and I took a few steps away from him.
I followed him to his car and he opened the passenger seat door for me before getting in.
I could feel his gaze over but my eyes were on the road and my thoughts all over the place.
"We have reached," he tapped on my shoulder to bring me back to reality.
"How did you know where I live?? Because I don't remember telling you my address before setting off," I entreated
"When applying for a job,we ask for our employees home address," he replied.
"Oh so you know where all your company employees reside??" I frowned.
"Not really,I only know a few special people," he gave me a smile and the atmosphere started feeling awkward.
"Why did you stop here?? My house is two blocks from here," I asked him.
"Ava I know your house but I don't want you to get in trouble again…so it's better you get off from here because you never know who might be watching…I'm going to watch you till you enter your house to make sure that you're safe," he warmly replied.
"Thank you so much,I really appreciate your care…have a goodnight please," I turned to open the door but he touched my hand and said,
"Ava in case of anything don't hesitate to call me…I'm just a call away," he curled his lips in a smile and it felt real.
I just nodded my head and stepped out of the car…I slowly walked to my house and before opening the door,I looked back and he was still there waiting for me like he had said.
I entered the house with a heavy heart because I didn't know how I'm going to face Herman according to what happened earlier between us.
I tried looking for him in all corners of the house but he wasn't around…on calling his number, it wasn't going through and this made me restless.
I went upstairs to take a shower because I needed to calm myself
