Chapter 17 - Ever green sap

"Children??" Mu Xiaolu's body trembled a little as the word was mentioned. She muttered quietly, her eyes practically shining as she gazed at the scene in front of her without blinking.

Feng Wuji's body was full of reopened wounds from the pressure that the Moira nature spirit had placed lk him earlier

"What do you want?" he asked, his chin raised as he gripped his hands and looked at her with an unyielding gaze.

The Moira nature spirit's expression changed to one of mockery. "Well, I want your life. It's only fair that you pay with your life for this crime," she replied coldly.

"You would dare take our lives? Aren't you scared of what our sects could do to you I'm retaliation?" he asked her.

"Why would I be? I'm pretty sure the celestial lotus sect would not try to avenge the death of a mere qi Vortex realm cultivator," she smirked.

"But we're not ordinary disciples, though," Su Mei uttered, but her eyes were glued to the ground.

"Hmmm?? Really?? Then humor me, who are you?" the Moira Nature Spirit said.

"He's the son of the Sect master of the Celestial lotus sect, and I'm the daughter of the Sect master of the Divinity halo sect," Su Mei said.

The Moira Spirit sighed. "Well, that's not a surprise, considering the facial features of you both and the fact that an elder of your race is practically boring his eyes at me from afar??"

Feng Wuji's eyes glinted! Someone was watching them? A faint smile formed on his lips, and then in a second it turned into a normal expression. If someone was watching them, then all they had gone through was just a lie, and the sect didn't trust him. He gritted his teeth as his eyes flashed red, and the baleful Qi began to gather around him again.

Everyone in the room felt the Qi and looked at him.

"How did you gather so much baleful Qi at your level?" the Moira Nature Spirit asked.

"He used an advanced technique, and some cold Qi from a Verdant Jade Demonic Serpent is also affecting him," Su Mei explained.

"Oh!!" The Moira Spirit's eyes flashed as she leaned back on her throne, lost in thought. "Well, how about we make a deal?"

A deal??!!

What was this crazy woman thinking? These thoughts echoed in Feng Wuji and Su Mei's minds.

The Moira Nature Spirit continued, "Why don't you guys help me gather some Ever green sap? In return, I'll help you clear the baleful Qi, set both of you free, and I'll give you a bonus treasure."

Mu Xiaolu's wings flickered with a purple light for a second before it became green again.

Eve green sap!!

"What's that?" Feng Wuji asked. Unlike Su Mei, he was staring daggers at the Moira Nature Spirit.

"It's a kind of sap that is extracted from an Ever-Green Tree," Mu Xiaolu said.

"And why can't you guys extract it by yourselves?" Su Mei asked, facing Mu Xiaolu.

Mu Xiaolu flew to her hair and sat on Su Mei's ear. "Well, fairies and spirits made of nature and Qi cannot enter the territory where it is!"

"So?? What do you guys say??" the Moira Nature Spirit said.

"Why do you need it?" Feng Wuji asked her, but internally he thought, I need to get this sap for her so she can help me disperse this baleful Qi in my body.

"That's none of your business. Deal or no deal!??"

"Deal!" Su Mei and Feng Wuji said at the same time.

"Good," the Moira Fairy Spirit smiled. "Oh, and next time you come here, you'll address me as Saint Mu Xia." Mu Xia's aura then changed into a chilly one. "Now get out. I don't want my palace to smell of filthy humans."

Feng Wuji and Su Mei's faces paled a little, and they practically scurried out of there.

"Mu Xiaolu, wait behind."

Mu Xiaolu looked at Feng Wuji's and Su Mei's departing figures with longing, but she stayed.

"Are you hurt? Did they harm you in any way?" Mu Xia asked, her presence now like that of a mother.

Mu Xiaolu rolled her eyes. "Of course not, I'm okay as you can see," she said as she twirled around her mother.

"Thank the moons," Mu Xia sighed. "Okay, now you have to get back to those humans. Give the male one a drop of Cleansing Dew so he can suppress the baleful Qi for some time."

"Yes, Matriarch. Bye!!" Mu Xiaolu flew away without glancing back.

Mu Xia sighed, her eyes filled with warmth. "This child..."

Feng Wuji sat cross-legged on a bamboo mat in a room, meditating. To his side was a wooden table with a pot of incense burning, releasing an aroma that helped in calming the mind. The room was a little wide, and in the left corner at the back was a bed.

Feng Wuji cultivated for a while before finally opening his eyes. His eyes had cleared, and the red had disappeared as if it never existed, his purple eyes gleaming. "Finally, I've managed to suppress the baleful Qi, thanks to the Cleansing Dew Mu Xiaolu gave me."

He stood up and approached the window, thinking about the recent events. "I've been irrational these past few days because of the baleful Qi. I need to apologize to Su Mei and thank her for stopping me from killing that fairy. If not, I might be...." He trailed off. "And Mu Xia mentioned that someone was watching Su Mei and me from the outside world. It looks like Father thinks I'm not capable yet, or this secret realm holds more secrets than I thought! Whatever, I need some rest. I'll figure all this out tomorrow."

Then he lay on the bed and drifted into sleep, wondering about his next course of action in the coming days.

At the window side outside the room, a silhouette of a small figure with wings was reflected as it glowed in the moonlight. It was gazing at the man who was asleep, and then it flew towards him quietly, sprinkled some dust on him, and flew out of the room.
