Chapter 12 - Six Candidates Determined

The room fell silent.

Everyone's expression shifted—some pale, some stunned.

Judgment-class Honkai Beasts. Plural.

They all knew what that meant. Chiyou. Benares. Each one alone could rival a mid-tier S-Rank Valkyrie.

But several? Coordinated? Attacking from multiple directions?

Hiss—

No one dared imagine the outcome.

And then came the deeper question: How was she commanding them?

Herrschers never cared for Honkai Beasts. They fought alone, driven by instinct or ideology. But this girl—this Herrscher of the Sea—was different.

Welt's eyes narrowed.

He recalled her words:

"I'm just a passing Planetary-Level Honkai Beast."

"Do you have any opinions about Honkai Beasts?"

She wasn't just powerful. She was something else entirely.

Could she really be higher than Judgement-level?

No. Welt dismissed the thought. Even judgement-level entities couldn't suppress Durandal so completely.

Then… Planetary-Level?

His heart skipped.

Planetary-Level… Could it mean her body is as massive as a planet?

Goosebumps crawled across his skin.

But he quickly composed himself. Speculation wouldn't help. The truth would come soon enough.

He looked up at the girl on the screen—smiling, radiant, unreadable.

"Alright," Welt said calmly. "We agree. Six people."

Xingyue's stardust eyes sparkled with amusement.

Tesla and Einstein's reactions were priceless. Welt's restraint only made her more curious.

She tilted her head, smiling sideways.

"Well then, wouldn't it have been better to do this earlier? I wasted so much energy…"

She sighed dramatically, hand to her forehead.

After the call ended, Xingyue set up a parasol on the island—her own body—and arranged a round table with drinks.

Wendy placed a reclining chair behind her, ever the devoted assistant.

And so, the Herrscher of the Sea began her vacation.

Her body now consisted only of her core components. She was at half strength—but still more than enough to handle six opponents.

All because they insisted on a human wave tactic…

To create those Honkai Beasts—including the Judgment-class ones—she had spent one percent of her energy.

One percent!

Even with autonomous Honkai energy absorption, it would take a full day to recover.

She felt cheated.

Anti-Entropy Command Center

Einstein tapped her chin, eyes gleaming.

"'Wasted so much energy… it'll take a long time to recover.' That line—could it mean she's weakened?"

Tesla nodded.

"She created a million Honkai Beasts. That must've drained her. She's probably exhausted."

"Yang, let's team up with Schicksal and strike now!"

Tesla was fired up.

But Welt didn't respond. He stroked his chin, deep in thought.

If she's weakened, why invite our strongest to face her?

Either she was arrogant—or she was playing a deeper game.

Welt leaned toward the latter.

He took Einstein and Tesla to meet Otto and shared his concerns.

Otto agreed.

"She contacted us ten hours later. Enough time to recover. That line was likely a smokescreen."

They couldn't afford to lower their guard.

Candidate Selection

"I must go," Bianca said, stepping forward.

"I'm her target."

Everyone turned to her, puzzled.

Durandal smiled.

"Before she left, she asked me: 'Do you want to be Durandal or Kiana?' I'm going to give her my answer."

Theresa gasped.

"You… Durandal? Kiana?"

Bianca nodded.

"I'm Siegfried and Cecilia's biological daughter. I lost my memory in an accident. By rights, Ms. Theresa, I should call you Da Yima."

Theresa's eyes welled with tears.

"Kiana… she's alive…"

She looked to Otto, who gave a subtle nod.

Theresa rushed forward, gripping Bianca's hand.

"This is wonderful. If Siegfried knew…"

She wiped her tears, then turned to Otto.

"Grandpa, I must go too. As Headmaster, I won't abandon any student of St. Freya."

Otto nodded.

Welt spoke next.

"From Anti-Entropy, only I will go. Einstein and Tesla must remain to command."

That left two slots.

Otto considered.

"We'll leave Rita to assist Amber. So…"

"Grandpa," Theresa said, smiling. "Let me choose the last two."

She had already made up her mind.
