I made sure he was already asleep.
When I was certain he was truly unconscious, I slowly slipped away from his side. The moment I stepped out of the room, I exhaled deeply. I need to get out of here as fast as I can.
I gasped when someone suddenly pulled me, and I almost screamed—until he covered my mouth. He brought a finger to his lips, telling me to stay quiet.
He pulled me along, taking a different route. I didn't ask a single question. I don't know why, but… I trusted him.
Once we were finally outside and far enough from the house, he let go of my hand.
I didn't even know there was another way out.
"T-thanks."
He looked at me seriously, making me freeze in place.
"I told you so many times to be careful. How many more times do I have to repeat myself?" He rubbed his temples in frustration. "I don't know what to do with you anymore."
I couldn't help the teasing smile that formed on my lips. Maybe he noticed, because he abruptly looked away.
