The days passed, and Sunday finally arrived. I couldn't wait. I got ready early, arriving at the restaurant by 4:30 p.m. to secure the perfect table.
At exactly 4:58, Treasure walked in—carrying a child in her arms.
My heart skipped. A kid? On our first date?
Still, I smiled as she approached. The child, a little boy with bright eyes, reached toward me. Without hesitation, I took him, and soon we were laughing and playing like old friends.
Treasure laughed. "So, you two forgot I'm still here? Junior, you left your sweetheart for a stranger?"
I grinned. "Men supporting each other."
She rolled her eyes but smiled, joining in the play.
When the waiter came, she smiled warmly. "What a lovely family you make! Such a handsome boy you have there, sir."
Treasure and I exchanged a glance but said nothing. I just smiled awkwardly as the waiter asked for our order.
"Whatever she's having," I said quickly.
Treasure placed her order, and we spent a quiet moment watching Junior's giggles fill the space.
"So," she said after a while, "what do you do for a living?"
"I'm an engineer—computer engineering. I work for a company, but I'm also building mine on the side."
Her eyes sparkled. "That's impressive."
Before I could respond, a beautiful woman approached our table. "So, Junior left me at home to go out with his aunt, huh?"
Treasure smiled. "Can you blame him? He's my sweetheart."
The woman laughed and turned to me. "Hi, Mr. Henry. I'm Loveth, Treasure's sister. I've heard a lot about you."
That made my pulse race. What exactly did she say about me?
Loveth smiled. "I hope my baby isn't disturbing your date."
I shook my head. "Not at all. He made it unforgettable."
Treasure and Loveth exchanged a teasing look before a man's voice called out, "Honey, let's go! We're late!"
He came toward us, holding out his hand.
"Frank?" I shouted, shocked.
He turned, eyes wide. "Sky Lord?"
We both burst out laughing, startling everyone around. We'd gone to the same secondary school years ago.
Treasure raised an eyebrow. "You two know each other?"
"Of course," I said, chuckling. "Back then, he was 'Pilot One,' the garri supplier. The best in school."
Frank laughed. "And he was the almighty Sky Lord—he knew every escape route from class!"
Even the waiters laughed with us.
After a few minutes of nostalgia, Frank gathered his wife and son to leave. "Good to see you again, brother," he said.
"You too," I replied.
Treasure was still giggling. "Garri gave you guys all those names?"
"You don't understand," I said. "When hunger hits, garri becomes sacred."
She laughed harder.
Then the waiter returned. "Would you two like anything else?"
"No, thank you," Treasure said.
"Where's that handsome boy of yours?" the waiter asked, turning to me.
I froze. "Uh…"
Treasure came to my rescue. "Our baby went home. It's adult time now."
The waiter winked. "A couple's date, then. A special wine—on the house."
I lowered my head, hiding a laugh.
Treasure giggled. "Relax, Mr. Henry."
When the waiter asked for the baby's name, I stammered, "Junior!"
She smiled. "Lovely name."
The wine and dessert arrived, and we toasted quietly. Afterward, I paid the bill and we stepped outside.
"Can you drive?" Treasure asked suddenly.
"Of course."
She reached into her bag, pulled out a key, and pressed a button.
Beep.
I turned—and froze. A 2022 BMW gleamed before us.
Trying to act calm, I swallowed my surprise as she handed me the keys.
"Drive us home," she said simply.
When we reached my place, she smiled, took my phone, and entered her number.
"See you when I see you," she said with a wink before driving off.
I stood there grinning like a fool.
What a day, I whispered. What a woman.
