When Heiji's words were heard, the three girls immediately looked down at the floor. Indeed, in front of several room doors there were one or two drops of water. They were so small that, if you didn't look closely, you couldn't notice them.
[Could Hattori's powers of observation possibly be even better than mine?]
Conan thought, stunned: "No, it's impossible that I'm inferior to him."
"How amazing! Heiji, I feel like you're even better than that guy, Kudo. You didn't miss a single detail," Sonoko said, astonished.
[That gossipy Sonoko.]
Conan thought irritably.
"Heiji is a very good detective. He's very famous in Kansai," Kazuha said proudly.
"It's all simple deduction. As a detective, even when there isn't a case you have to keep your sensitivity tuned for cases. Also, Sonoko screamed every time she opened a door, so I assumed they were changing clothes.
"It's true, everyone was changing clothes," Sonoko said, embarrassed. "But how did you know?"
At that moment, Sonoko was moving faster, so each time she opened a door only she saw what was inside. But Heiji spoke as if he had seen it with his own eyes.
"It's very simple. The first time you scream when opening a door can be an accident, but if you do it again and again, it's no longer a coincidence. Taking into account the earlier rain, I guessed they were changing clothes, and your screams confirmed my assumption," Heiji said calmly.
At that moment, the people from the other rooms came out.
Three men and one woman!
"Who are you? How dare you open other people's rooms without knocking? Didn't your parents teach you manners?" said a long-haired man, displeased.
"I'm very sorry, but since you didn't lock the door, you bear part of the responsibility too."
Suzuki Sonoko, as the young heiress of a large conglomerate, although she wasn't in the least showy with her good friend Ran, was different with others. And besides, this man's tone was very rude.
"And who would have known you'd suddenly open the door without knocking? Is that our fault?" the man said with a cold smile.
Suzuki Sonoko was left speechless. It was certainly her fault, and continuing to argue would be very impolite.
"You must be a college classmate of Ayako, right?" Heiji suddenly interjected.
"Oh, you guys are friends of Ayako too?" the man looked at Heiji.
"No, but I feel very sorry for Ayako. She has puffy bags under her eyes, a dull look, walks with unsteady steps and even seems a bit distracted; those are signs of lack of focus. Although she put on some makeup to cover the dark circles, she can't hide the aftermath of excess and debauchery. Would an exhausted person be afraid of having their body seen?"
Heiji was completely defending Suzuki Sonoko, deliberately ignoring her mistake and directly ridiculing the man.
There was no other choice. From the beginning, this guy hadn't stopped looking at Kazuha and Ran with the same look you'd give prey. This kind of person wasn't passionate, but promiscuous — the type who uses and discards. In short, a jerk.
Nearby, Conan kept nodding, agreeing strongly with Heiji's deduction: "Although Hattori's method is a bit low, the way that idiot looks at Ran is really irritating."
"You... how dare you talk to me like that, you high school brat? I'll show you what an adult's fist can do!" the man, embarrassed and furious, lunged at him.
Heiji shook his head, grabbed the man's arm firmly, trapped his foot, pushed him with his shoulder, turned, and, using the momentum, threw him backward.
Thud!!!
The man fell flat on his face to the ground.
"A guy like you, even Kazuha could take you down easily."
Heiji had never cared about offending people. Since he had offended him, he didn't mind stepping on him a little more.
"What happened?" Suzuki Ayako came up when she heard the noise and, seeing the man lying by the stairs, exclaimed in surprise, "Ohta! How did you fall?"
Suzuki Sonoko looked at Heiji with gratitude and stepped forward to explain what had happened.
"Oh come on! Apologize right now. Do you think you're right after making a mistake?"
After learning what had happened, Suzuki Ayako couldn't blame Heiji, but with Sonoko she showed no mercy, exercising all her authority as the older sister.
After all, it was Sonoko's fault, so she had no choice but to apologize solemnly again to the others.
The other three didn't make a big deal out of it. After all, Sonoko hadn't had any conflict with them, so they didn't take it badly.
As for the man, although he wasn't happy, he didn't dare push it further. The other party was the second young miss of the Suzuki Group, a person of higher status whom you couldn't afford to offend.
But that high school kid...
Heiji felt something and looked at the man: "Don't provoke me, or you'll regret it."
The atmosphere in the scene tensed again.
"Now then, allow me to introduce everyone."
To ease the tension, Suzuki Ayako made a brief introduction of both parties.
The man who had come to blows with Heiji was Ohta Masaru, the club leader. The tall, burly man was Kakutani Hiroki, in charge of photography. The short, chubby man was Takahashi Ryoichi, responsible for miscellaneous affairs. And the attractive woman was Ikeda Chikako, a writer.
"Sonoko, introduce your friends to them," Ayako told Sonoko.
"Sure," Sonoko stood up, sat between Kazuha and Ran and put her arms around them, "This is my good friend, Mouri Ran, and she is Toyama Kazuha."
Then she looked at Heiji: "He is Hattori Heiji, a very good high school detective, with incredible deductive powers.
There was a strange tone in her voice.
"As for this boy, his name is Edogawa Conan, and he's currently eating and drinking for free at Ran's house.
[That one, Sonoko.]
