Chapter 6 - I HATE YOU!

Present day

"Hello Ezekiel." The old black guy said to him.

Ezekiel was speechless he didn't understand what was going on. The man disappeared, then reappeared behind Ezekiel, gently put his arm around Ezekiel's shoulder and said the words that changed his life, "Not going to say hello to your grandfather? Wow! My daughter didn't raise you well."

Perplexed at what he had just heard he stood there starstruck. He couldn't believe it. No. He refused to believe it.

"Impossible my grandfather is dead!" Ezekiel exclaimed pushing him away.

"Well, that's clearly not true, since I'm your grandfather and I'm very much alive." The man smiled.

"No! I refuse to believe it!" Ezekiel shouted.

"Why? I'm right before your eyes and telling you that I'm your Grandfather. My Daughter is Grace and your mother is Grace, so I'm you Grandfather." The man explained.

"Don't say my mothers name!" Ezekiel snapped. "If you're really my mum's dad, why didn't you visit before?"

Ezekiel's Grandfather replied, "I'm sorry, but the time wasn't right and I'm really sorry about your brother."

After hearing those words, Ezekiel stopped and repeated them in his head. Then he realised what his grandfather said and asked, "How did you know about my family dying?"

"Because I saw it all happen." Ezekiel grandfather replied.

At that moment Ezekiel became overcome by rage and he angrily shouted at his grandfather, "You saw all of it and did nothing about it! You scum! How could you watch your family die and do nothing about it? I hope you die! I hate you, you're not my grandfather, your scum. This is all your fault. If you saved my mum or told her she had cancer so we could of dealt with it earlier. We. No not we. I. I wouldn't be in this situation. I would be at home with my mum, dad and little brother, but no you have to be a sick bastard and watch all of YOUR family die! Are you even sorry? Do you know what I had to endure? Every day for the past few months, I've been molested by my uncle. I had no one to turn to and you abduct me out of the blue and say I'm YOUR grandson. If you wanted me to be YOUR grandson, you should have been there for us years ago! Do you understand how much I've suffered, and you knew that I was and just sat there and watched!"

Ezekiel's grandfather closed his eyes and looked up, Ezekiel angrily said to his grandfather, "that same sadness you're feeling right now, is that same sadness I had to endure everyday!"

"Ezekiel, I think you're quite mistaken. I'm not sad at all. I am really sorry for the hardship you've endured, I truly am, but to be honest, I'm over joyed right now because I was finally able to meet you." Ezekiel Grandfather looked down at him with a smile.

"Happy? Did you not just hear what I just said?" Ezekiel exclaimed.

"Oh, I'm very aware of the hardship you endured. Its a hardship no human being should ever face, let alone a child, but I'm not all too focused on that, I'm just happy to finally meet with my grandson." Ezekiel grandfather replied.

"Well I don't want to be around you! I hate you!" Ezekiel shouted.

"To be fair, that's understandable after what I've just told you, but just know that I love you, very much." Ezekiel's grandfather said.

"Love? Do you even know what love is? If you loved me you wouldn't let me suffer the way I did. You wouldn't let my brother suffer the way he did, nor my mother. But instead you just watched. You didn't even bother showing up to your own daughter funeral." Ezekiel exclaimed.

"It was out of my control." Ezekiel's grandfather replied.

"Shut up! You're nothing but scum!" Ezekiel exclaimed.

"Is that so?" Ezekiel's grandfather chuckled.

"Stop laughing! Its not a joke!" Ezekiel snapped.

"Anyways, would you like something to eat or drink, we have amazing cooks." Ezekiel's grandfather offered Ezekiel.

"I don't want your scummy food!" Ezekiel shouted.

"Then what do you want to do?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

Ezekiel was ready to get angry and irate again, but he paused for a moment and really thought about what he actually wanted to do, but no answers came to mind. He had never been asked such a question so he didn't know how to answer it.

"I don't know." Ezekiel replied.

"So lets really weigh up the options here, you could stay with me or you could go back to your uncle, or you could just wander around and live by yourself." Ezekiel's grandfather suggested.

"I said I don't know!" Ezekiel snapped.

"So what you're telling me is that going back to your uncle is an option?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"No!" Ezekiel replied.

"Well then that leaves staying with me or living by yourself." Ezekiel's grandfather said.

"Then I'd rather live by myself because living with scum like you is out of the option." Ezekiel explained.

"Alright then, following in my footsteps, the independent lifestyle. In fact, I've lived in solitude all my life, but it would be almost impossible for you to do." Ezekiel's grandfather said.

"I'll take my chances." Ezekiel replied.

"Why so confident? Do you not fear death?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"No." Ezekiel said confidently.

"Then why do you keep on living?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"I don't know." Ezekiel said.

"Have you ever tried to put an end to your life?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"No." Ezekiel replied.

"Why not. You seem to hate your living experience, so why not just give up?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"I don't know. On the climb here I felt like giving up, but some sort of wall must of stopped me from falling and it made me keep going." Ezekiel replied.

"What about when you're with your uncle, do you ever think about taking your life, so you no longer have to experience that pain?" Ezekiel's grandfather asked.

"Yes. I have many times, but my mum, always used to tell me that bad times don't last forever and as long as you remain hopeful that good times will come and you don't give up, good times will find you again." Ezekiel said.

"So, who's to say this isn't one of those good times?" Ezekiel's grandfather smiled.

"If it was a good time I wouldn't be talking to scum like you. Maybe me killing you for all the suffering you caused me might be a good time." Ezekiel said.

"Well, you should've said that early and we could've gotten it over and done with." Ezekiel's grandfather chuckled.

"What are you talking about?" Ezekiel asked.

Ezekiel's grandfather placed his hand outwards and all of a sudden a blade formed in his hand. Ezekiel was in awe, he had never seen something like that. Ezekiel's grandfather pointed the handle of the blade at Ezekiel to get him to take it from him and he said, "Or the fourth option, you kill me."
