Lena ransacked her closet, pulling out dress after dress, tossing them onto the bed as she searched for the perfect outfit to wear for her return to the office. Nothing fit. Her pregnancy had softened her waist, rounded her hips, and made her breasts heavier, and she hated every second of it. She had always been slim, enviably so, and now every zipper fought her like an insult.
If it were up to her, she would have never gotten pregnant. But after lying twice to Adrian about being pregnant and "losing the baby," Miranda had started whispering that Lena must be infertile. That it made no sense for the Vale family to have no heirs. That Adrian should consider other options.
