The word yes still hung between them. Raw. Terrifying. Real.
Kairos stared at her like she'd performed a miracle. Like he couldn't quite believe what he'd heard. His mouth opened, closed, opened again. No words came.
"Did you just—" His voice cracked. "Did you say yes?"
"Yes." Stronger this time. More certain. "I said yes. I'll marry you."
He moved then. Crossed the distance between them in two strides, his hands framing her face with desperate tenderness. "You mean it? You're not just—this isn't pity or—"
"It's choice." She covered his hands with hers. "I'm choosing you. Choosing us. Choosing to be brave enough to try."
The kiss was inevitable. Desperate. Grateful. His mouth on hers tasted like relief and hope and terrified joy. When they broke apart, both breathing hard, tears were streaming down his face.
