Chapter 10 - The Pink One

Zaya was dumbfounded, she then recalled how she butchered those other reptilians at the entrance of the cave, might they have been children she thought her body shivering.

"I didn't mean to kill them," she said to herself.

"No," Nyx replied as if she had just read Zaya's mind. "They weren't human beings, the fox clan sent me as a disguise a long time ago."

Nyx faced towards the bridge abruptly as she suddenly stopped talking.

"Good bye, purple one," she said kneeling before Zaya.

"This is my destiny." She lifted Zaya up with both of her hands, as she transformed to her fox form and began running, red pale fur encamping her body, two tails evolved from the back of her waist and just as they were about to reach the entrance of the bridge.

A beast emerged from the ground like it's been waiting for decades.

"Amphilim!" Nyx shouted, still running at the beast.

"I will not fall, this is my destiny!" Nyx groaned louder as she threw Zaya over the beast simultaneously striking it as a distraction.

The beast shrieked as Nyx plunged her sword into its head, it was a large spider as tall as a three‑stories building. With about twenty large black eyes and claws at the end of its eight gigantic legs, it was nicknamed a landlegadon, a primal beast famous for being able to change its form to the creature it wished.

The landlegadon had never been defeated.

"Come at me, you monster!" yelled Nyx. "Let's make history together!" She yelled again, sharpening the two daggers in both of her hands together as red energy engrossed it, the dagger seemingly getting bigger and reshaping into a sword.

Nyx went for the kill, jumping high towards the primal beast. The landlegadon swung one of its legs at her; she sliced it like it was butter, going straight for its head. Unexpectedly she was hit by two others of its legs sending her flying back at high speed, pain writhing through her body.

Zaya, who was lying on the ground of the bridge, stood up using the spear in her hands, she was determined to save Nyx however hard it could be, no one should die while she watched she thought.

Her mind was totally made when she heard a shriek from farther away in the dome. It was another landlegadon larger than the former, its eyes carved with multiple lines seemingly cutting through it. It made a louder shriek aiming for Nyx who was already back on her feet.

Zaya was about to leave and help. When the strange voice once again spoke saying "stop! Return! Aim for the other end of the bridge."

Nyx, from where she was, yelled at Zaya, "Go! This is my sacrifice." She yelled as she was bathed by red energy, her fur could no longer be seen as she was one with primordial energy itself. She took a stance, which Zaya clearly remembered to match the one she saw Edeth take in her dreams.

Nyx suddenly vanished as she launched, even Zaya couldn't trace her steps as she couldn't be seen any longer. A powerful wind washed across the place sending Zaya immediately to the other end of the bridge. She heard the landlegadon shriek in pain before she was dragged in by another dark portal.

She arrived at what seemed like a golden throne room, treasures laid everywhere, in the midst of pure gold her gaze fell on a pink fox. Her hands stretched forward, aiming her energy towards a ceramic Edeth statue placed at her front.

"Come to me!" she heard the voice speak. Zaya, without a second thought, aimed for where the pink fur fox stood.

"Grab the staff's head," the fox spoke authoritatively. Zaya went towards what she called the head of the staff. It was some sort of empty sceptre but with different shining stones placed around it, Zaya took the spear in her hands as she injected it into the sceptre head, it glowed but something was not right.

The voice spoke again, "The stone in your necklace." she removed her necklace in one swift pull. Freeing the gems from the clutches of the shining chains as she inputted it into the empty space in the sceptre.

The sceptre glowed bright releasing itself from Zaya's hand, its power connected to the statue of Edeth breaking it immediately and then a powerful bright light illuminating the whole area.

When the midst cleared, Zaya gazed at the pink fox who was now laying on the ground looking lifeless.

Zaya tried to stand up but her body was numb, she could only remain there, she said to the fox, "Are you alright?"

The pink fox then spoke weakly, It is done, "Take the staff. It would measure your progress and get you your memories. Find Edeth, help get her memories back, do not let the staff get to the hands of the enemies."

Zaya then responded, "Forget about that now, you're dying I can sense your will diminishing. How can I save you? What do you possibly need? Anything. I'll give it to you right now."

The pink fox sighed as she said, "I've been channeling my power to the foxes core for centuries, my death is inevitable. We'll meet again I promise." She said breathing her last.

Zaya was sad there was nothing she could have done after all.

Hours passed, Zaya remained on the ground unable to move, the sun was now setting, Zaya saw she had begun losing a lot of blood, if she stayed here any much longer, she was going to die, she gained strength, sustaining her fox form. She crept towards the pink fox, drops of water falling from her eyes as she saw the fox was no longer alive.

There was a white and pink bracelet on the foxes hand, Zaya took it and held it as a memory of the pink fox. She grabbed the fox's body and the sceptre and walked through the black portal.

There was no trace of the landlegadon or a red fox, all that was visible was destruction, Zaya's heart throbbed, she could feel her heart beat in her ears.

She walked into the second portal. Climbing the mountain walls and coming out of the hole she broke with her feet, heading straight for the entrance of the cave. A bit far from it, she buried the pink fox.

After burying her, she said, "I really hope we meet again, pink one." There was a bright pink light from where the pink fox had laid, Zaya could sense the fox's body had disappeared, the staff in her hand then glowed.

She was shocked but she couldn't show it. Her back was broken, her mouth torn, her ears about to burst. She looked around at the bizarre sight of lava clashing with ice. It was crazy, yet amusing.

At that moment she heard some voices, some people were approaching from deep in the snow. The storm was huge but her senses were sharp.
