Author Note: HIYA GUYSS BEEN A MINUTE EH? IM DONE WITH ALL MY MID TERMS AND COLLEGE APPS. DID YA MISS ME? ANYWAY HAVE FUN WITH THIS CHAPTER I HAD A BLAST WRITING IT. LOVE YALLLL
Hikaru tapped his foot on the ground relentlessly. His memories of the fight he was about to witness were, at the very best, vague. A shame honestly. If I had bothered remembering the show, I would have an easier time saving the world.
It was frustrating. As hell. Honestly, Hikaru didn't think he was THAT bad at recall. No doubt it was that divine chalk stick's fault. Like everything else Hikaru couldn't find anyone to blame for.
Looking at screens before him, Hikaru saw exactly what he had expected to see. The villain team clearly wasn't going to work together, with Boomboy being seconds away from blowing and Roboboy blissfully unaware of his teammate's mental state. The hero team was comparatively better, with the two chatting it up. Hikaru didn't even need his meta knowledge to guess what relationship those two were gonna end up in. Looking at the boy blush when gravitygirl's face got a tad bit too close made Hikaru want to slam the brat's face into a wall. I have a strong feeling I was single as hell in my past life. Divine chalk stick help me I might be ending up the same in this one too.
The match began almost exactly the way anyone with a brain would predict it to go. Bakugo immediately broke off from his teammate to hunt down Deku, while the boy in question attempted to sneak in through a window with his teammate.
"Hey invisigirl."
"Huh? You talking to me?" Hagakure (or at least her gloves) turned towards Hikaru.
"Remember what you said about me being similar to Boomboy?"
"Yes? Don't take it to heart though!" The gloves in the air began moving erratically. "After talking to you, I can tell you're more reasonable by a mile!"
Hikaru chuckled. "Well, sorry to dash your hopes, but I fear you may be right."
Hagakure followed Hikaru's gaze to see Bakugo rushing towards the window Izuku was entering from. He must have absolutely insane instincts to track them that fast. What a monster.
Emerging from one of the halls, he went straight for his prey. Izuku, reacting far better than Hikaru thought him capable of, immediately pushed himself and his teammate out of the way.
"Seriously? A sneak attack? That isn't manly at all!" Kirishima exclaimed.
Nearly the entire class erupted with similar protests.
All Might let out a booming laugh.
"EVEN SNEAK ATTACKS ARE A VALID STRATEGY. THIS IS PRACTICAL COMBAT AFTER ALL!"
"Hey Hikaru… what do you mean you're similar to Bakugo?" A glove tentatively tapped him on the shoulder. Right before her eyes, she was witnessing what happens when you give a crash out free reign and unlimited explosions. "Look at him! He's like a wild animal!"
Hikaru merely smiled, causing his invisible teammate to worry even more.
Katsuki Bakugo
KILL. CRUSH. KILL. CRUSH. CRUSH. CRUSH.
Katsuki let his suppressed instincts fully take over the moment he caught sight of Deku. Nearly launching himself towards the pair before him, he willed his sweat to explode. Surprisingly. Persistently. ANNOYINGLY, Deku managed to push himself and the brown-haired girl with him aside.
DAMN IT. YOU KNOW WHAT? SURE. IT WON'T BE ANY FUN IF HE DOESN'T RESIST.
"Good job dodging Deku." He felt his face twist into a sick grin. "I'LL MUTILATE YOU JUST ENOUGH TO NOT BE DISQUALIFIED, SO SQUIRM HOWEVER YOU WANT, YOU BASTARD!"
Rushing towards him, Katsuki slowly found himself growing comfortable. Yeah… THIS IS IT.
Everything was FINALLY in place for him. Throwing his right fist forward, his pupils dilated in ecstasy. The world was about to affirm his beliefs, just like it always used to.
Except it didn't.
That insignificant, weak, pathetic waste of air had somehow managed to predict his attack. Latching himself onto Katsuki's outstretched arms, he twisted his body taking Katsuki down in a suplex.
What? Did he just read my moves? HOW?
"Kacchan, you always lead with a right hook." Deku muttered, somehow loud enough to reach Katsuki. "I've seen it more times than I can count!"
SHUT UP.
"You see, I've analyzed every single hero I've encountered in that NOTEBOOK of mine!"
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.
"THE ONE YOU BLEW UP AND CHUCKED OUT THE WINDOW!"
"I'M NO LONGER THE WORTHLESS PUNCHING BAG DEKU YOU KNEW!"
"KACCHAN! I'M…"
SHUT UUUUUUUP.
"I'M THE DEKU WHO ALWAYS DOES HIS BEST."
Katsuki felt bile rise in his throat. Time slowed before him. Deku stood, his expression a disgusting mix of determination and pain. The same expression he had seen the brat make so many times before. The one he had desperately tried to wipe off the face of the Earth.
"IT PISSES ME OFF!" Katsuki roared.
A sound came from his micro-transceiver. "Hey Bakugo! Updates! Tell me what's happening?"
The robotic voice of his teammate snapped him back into reality.
"Shut up and keep watch…" Katsuki growled. "I'm just about ready to crush a certain someone."
"Don't let your emotions get the better of you!" His teammate shouted through the transceiver; his voice tinged with worry. Katsuki offered no response. "Hey! Answer me!"
Katsuki reached his neck and crushed the device. That ought to shut him up.
With all distractions eliminated, Katsuki once again let his rage run wild.
Exploding forward, he flew towards his opponent.
"Run on ahead Uruaka!" Deku yelled, taking steps backwards.
"WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF!" Katsuki roared.
Launching a kick towards Deku, he felt his leg hit something suspiciously like cloth. Huh?
SHIT. IT'S CAPTURE TAPE.
In the split second he had made contact with the tape, Deku had somehow managed to tie it to his leg.
"DAMN YOU!"
Katsuki bent himself midair, thrusting his hand forward.
Once again, the annoying cockroach dodged his inevitable beating. The escape hadn't come easy, however; Bakugo was once again free. Stop it. Damn it. STOP TRYING SO HARD.
Immediately, before Katsuki could regain his balance, Izuku sprinted away from him.
"GET BACK HERE DEKU." Bakugo screamed, his voice cracking.
HOW DARE HE. HE'S MAKING A FOOL OF ME. AGAIN.
"IT MUST HAVE BEEN FUN, RIGHT? TRICKING ME THIS WHOLE TIME!"
"WITH THAT FLASHY QUIRK OF YOURS, YOU MUST HAVE FELT SO SUPERIOR KEEPING IT HIDDEN FROM ME."
IF HE HAD THAT THIS WHOLE TIME, IF IT WAS SOMETHING HE HAD EARNED, THEN WHY DIDN'T HE EVER USE IT? WHY ISN'T HE USING IT RIGHT NOW? I DON'T GET IT. WHY. WHY. WHY.
The arrogant exterior Bakugo surrounded himself with began fraying precariously. He was keenly aware Deku was the only person who made him feel this way. So completely and utterly small. Bakugo couldn't understand it at all. There was no logical basis to his envy or rage, but it was there, nonetheless. Burning. Practically BEGGING to be let out.
"BRING IT ON DEKU. QUIRK OR NOT, I'LL STILL CRUSH YOU." His very body reacted to his fury, explosions emerging from his hands.
Katsuki could still hear Deku scampering away from him. Slowly walking towards him, simmering in his rage, he approached.
Izuku. You really can't do anything, can you? You fucking pebble. Why don't you get it? Why don't you understand. YOU'RE A LOSER. SO WHY, WHY DON'T YOU FEEL LIKE IT? WHY DO YOU MAKE ME DOUBT IT?
Bakugo had become aware of his objective superiority the very moment he first interacted with his peers. Smarter. Faster. Stronger. And to top it all off, he had been born with a superior quirk. He was, without a doubt, better than everyone else.
The boy who grew up next to him was the complete opposite. He was a weak, sniveling, loud, crybaby. A quirkless one at that. He isn't awesome at all. He's a pebble. Just a tiny insignificant pebble!
So why. WHY. WHY DOES HE ALWAYS LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT? Deku's face plagued his mind. A determined face. A crying one. A concerned one. STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT. I'M BETTER THAN YOU. WHY DON'T YOU SEE IT TOO? WHY CAN'T YOU SEE IT?
Shaking the barrels attached to his arms, he heard liquid swish within them.
"I'm all loaded up." Perfect.
Finally arriving at the hallway Deku hid in, he pointed a barrel towards him.
"Why aren't you using that damn quirk of yours? Are you STILL mocking me?"
His thoughts made no sense to him. Did he want Deku to use his quirk? Didn't he just want to cripple him? Why isn't he using his quirk? Does it matter? Why does he care? His head hurt. It hurt. It hurt. It hurt. Stop thinking. Thoughts for later. Boom now.
"Kacchan!" The boy said, his voice trembling. "I don't fear you anymore!"
His expression twisted into a glare.
To his own surprise, Katsuki began smiling.
"I'm guessing your nerdy ass already knows this from your stalking, but let me give you a quirk summary."
The smile widened. Deku's gaze wavered.
"The sweat glands on my palms secrete something like Nitroglycerin. That's how I make my explosions. Therefore, assuming they honored my requests…"
A voice came from the building's hidden speakers. "Bakugo! Control yourself this instant!"
Katsuki ignored All Might.
"This gauntlet's been storing that fluid this entire fight."
"KATSUKI BAKUGO ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL HIM?"
Katsuki let out a maniacal chuckle. "HE WON'T DIE IF IT ISN'T A DIRECT HIT!"
Grabbing the pin on the gauntlet, he let it loose.
The world turned white.
Katsuki felt his ears pop from the sound.
His eyes had white spots.
Slowly, focusing again, Katsuki saw the product of his work. An entire part of the building. Gone.
"Awesome, right?" Katsuki leered at the Deku. The boy was on the ground, staring at him with wide eyes. "Come on! You're not dead yet! Keep it going!"
Then the brat DARED to ignore him and focus on his micro-transceiver.
"Oho~ ignoring me, eh?
He can still move fine. Perfect. I can push it even more. You won't stop me, will you All Might? After all, I haven't broken any rules at all right now.
Another person appeared in his thoughts. Hikaru. I bet that bastards scared out of his wits right now. He's next.
Katsuki felt his patience wane as the boy before him continued to ignore him.
"THAT'S IT. POUND TIME BITCH."
Launching himself towards him, Katsuki once again thrust his hand forward. His senses, his very BEING showed him the path forward. Mere moments before his hand touched Deku, he triggered an explosion. Contorting his body and using the momentum generated by the explosion, he found himself standing behind Deku.
"SINCE YOU'VE HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH MY RIGHT HOOK, HERE'S ANOTHER ONE!"
From then on, Katsuki began whaling on him.
Back, shoulder, arm, legs, not a single part of Deku remained unharmed.
"YOU GET IT NOW? YOU'RE NOTHING COMPARED TO ME!"
Grabbing his arm, he threw Deku to the ground the same way he had been at the start of the fight.
After landing so many hits, Katsuki should have felt elated. Yet the familiar satisfaction he usually felt eluded him. He had promised himself not to think about it. It was for later. Not now.
HE STILL ISN'T USING THAT DAMN QUIRK.
Shit.
"STOP LOOKING DOWN ON ME. USE THAT QUIRK DAMN IT!"
Deku seemed to be unable to hear him.
"You know Bakugo… it's because you're so awesome that I want to beat you."
There it was again. That same determined look. Katsuki despised it. He felt the veins on his head stiffen.
"I WANT TO WIN. TO BEAT YOU! YOU IDIOT!" Deku screamed louder than he had the entire fight.
Katsuki responded with his own throat-tearing scream.
"STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT, YOU ABOMINABLE NERD!"
Deku brought his arm back, preparing for a punch.
Is he finally doing it?
"DETROIT…"
HELL YES. FINALLY.
KILL.
KILL.
CRUSH.
"NOW URAKA!"
What.
His arm changed direction, pointing upwards.
What.
Katsuki's explosion detonated straight on Deku's face.
What.
The force generated by Deku's punch drilled a hole through the floors above them.
What.
The world turned quiet for Katsuki. Shock numbed him.
What.
Vaguely, he could hear All Might's voice.
"THE HERO TEAM WINS!"
Deku fainted right before his eyes.
What.
Bakugo felt a shiver run through his body. His expression was one of pure horror, though it was nothing compared to the horror he felt inside.
What.
"Huff huff huff." Katsuki's gasped for air.
Deku. He read me like a book. He played me. All of this was part of his plan.
"Aughh." A strangled cry came from deep within him.
I was completely defeated. By Deku.
He heard nothing. He saw nothing. There was a discussion going around him. He ignored it. He had been moved away from the building at some point, he didn't know when.
"Hey Boomboy." Someone finally got through to him.
Katsuki turned to stare at the voice who had called out.
"Eyes on the prize, bitch."
Then he walked away.
What.
