Chapter 34 - C34

Kakashi said, "The power inside Yoruha's body should be senjutsu chakra."

"When Lord Jiraiya enters Sage Mode, the chakra within him is the same type."

"Senjutsu chakra is far stronger than ordinary chakra."

"It's just that Yoruha never learned senjutsu. The Third Hokage believes Yoruha might possess a natural Sage Body—his chakra was senjutsu chakra from birth."

"Given the vast amount of chakra he has, if he exhausted all his senjutsu chakra at once, that could explain how he produced such a large-scale jutsu."

Even Kakashi found that explanation a bit far-fetched.

He had seen Jiraiya's Sage Mode before. It was indeed powerful, but none of Jiraiya's techniques had ever produced such a massive area of destruction.

And Yoruha's jutsu hadn't just affected the area—it had obliterated everything within several kilometers of the blast center.

Clearly, the scale of destruction Yoruha caused last night far surpassed even Jiraiya's abilities.

But aside from that theory, Kakashi had no better explanation for the terrifying power Yoruha had unleashed.

Kimoto Tōichi hadn't witnessed the scene firsthand, so he accepted Kakashi's words without question.

"That kind of power is already on the level of a tailed beast."

"If Yoruha could control that power, wouldn't he have strength comparable to one?"

He looked at Kakashi.

Kakashi frowned. "I'm afraid it's not that simple. Yoruha still can't control that power—and he doesn't even fully understand what it is."

"But the good thing is, although that power can go berserk, Yoruha always remains conscious."

"He doesn't lose his mind like a jinchūriki when they rampage and get taken over by their tailed beast."

"So I believe the power within him is simply an enormous chakra hidden deep inside his body."

"As long as he keeps training, he'll definitely learn to control it."

"Though it won't be something he can do in a short time."

"I'll help him."

Kakashi's tone turned firm by the end.

Kimoto Tōichi exhaled in relief.

"As long as that power isn't like a tailed beast's, that's good. I was worried it might try to take over his body."

Kakashi shook his head. "No. The rampage was only because Yoruha lost control over that chakra—it doesn't have its own will."

"What's unbelievable is that Yoruha was at the center of the explosion and still survived completely unharmed. He didn't suffer a single injury."

"Even after his chakra was drained, he just slept for one night and fully recovered."

"That level of recovery rivals Naruto's."

"No—actually, even Naruto might not recover that fast."

Kakashi sighed with admiration.

He had stayed by Yoruha's side all night, thinking deeply about it.

"These are the conclusions I came to last night."

"So I believe the power inside Yoruha must come from what the Third Hokage called a natural Sage Body."

"The Third also said the First Hokage, who possessed the same kind of body, had astonishing regenerative powers."

"His body could be pierced through and still return to normal in a short time."

Hearing this, Kimoto Tōichi felt as though he were listening to a myth.

"That's already beyond human. It sounds more like divine power."

Kakashi sighed. "I was shocked too when I first heard it."

"But the Third Hokage lived through that era. The way he described the First Hokage—he truly was like a god."

"The First Hokage also had an immense amount of chakra. In battle, he often used jutsu on the same scale as a Tailed Beast Bomb."

"It's unimaginable how the other shinobi of that era must have felt, facing someone like him."

"The Third Hokage said that one day, Yoruha might also possess power equal to the First Hokage's."

Kimoto Tōichi's expression grew serious. "With that kind of potential, isn't the Third Hokage at all wary of Yoruha?"

That was what he truly cared about.

The stronger Yoruha became, the more dangerous he could be if he ever turned against Konoha.

Surely the Third must have some concerns?

Kakashi shook his head. "All we can do is hope the Third doesn't develop such thoughts—and that Yoruha will always remain loyal to Konoha."

"As his teachers, it's our duty to keep him from ever walking a path that opposes the village."

"But I think you can rest easy. Yoruha isn't like most people—he's calm and won't be easily swayed."

Kimoto Tōichi smiled faintly. "That's true. It's almost impossible to fool that kid."

"He's rational too. He won't turn against the village just because he sees a few dark things in Konoha."

Shinobi in this world were often far too emotional.

Few could look at things with calm and reason.

Many ninja began doubting their village after witnessing its darker sides.

But not Yoruha—he was level-headed. Both Kimoto Tōichi and Kakashi had spoken with him about such matters before.

Yoruha had always responded with remarkable maturity.

He even understood why such things had to exist.

After all, a shinobi village—being the most vital military arm of a nation—couldn't exist purely in the light. There would always be darkness, filth, and secrets.

And much of that darkness, however distasteful, was necessary to protect the peace and stability of the greater whole.

Kimoto Tōichi said, "Well, his two teachers both came from the ANBU. That says enough."

Kakashi nodded.

Of course, when it came to Naruto and his team, Kakashi never let them glimpse the dark side.

They were still too young—too fragile in their thinking.

If they learned the truth too soon, it could easily break them.

Likewise, Kimoto Tōichi never exposed Yamada Jumoku, or Motonoya Toko to such things either.

After staying with Kimoto Tōichi for a while, Kakashi left.

Today, he had to lead Naruto and his teammates on a mission.

Soon, the four of them gathered in front of the Hokage's building.

Kakashi arrived late, as usual.

"Sensei, you're late again!" the three students—Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura—complained in unison.

Kakashi looked at Naruto and sighed softly.

Seeing him brought Kakashi back to reality—reminding him that he was supposed to be teaching three fresh academy graduates.

Yoruha's maturity had made him forget the boy's actual age—and the gap between them.

Kakashi scratched his head and said casually, "Ah, sorry about that. I ran into an old lady crossing the street on my way here..."

As usual, his excuse was obviously nonsense.

The three students twitched their mouths.

"Sensei, you sure have a lot of excuses," Naruto grumbled.

Kakashi waved a hand dismissively. "All right, all right. Anyway, let's go get our mission."

The four of them headed toward the Hokage's office.

Walking beside Sasuke, Sakura smiled and asked, "Sasuke, did you see it last night? That explosion?"
