Chapter 8 - Just a prisoner

True to his words, I found them in a drawer and brushed, then settled down to eat.

The time after that, passed by slowly and for three days, my routine became eating and going to bed.

The only person I ever made contact with was Ken, and he barely spoke any words to me except if I have question which most answered to them were, I don't know.

I sighed, getting extremely bored on the third day without doing anything all day, and stayed in bed after breakfast expecting lunch as my usual routine now is.

But it was Stephen who stepped in, and he had an harden expression on his face.

"Miss Raina, please follow me." he said, without much words, and I complied.

We entered another room right next to Xavier's and he told me to settle in it.

"You will stay here from now on."

"What about the Alpha King?" I asked, curious to know what he has been up to after bringing me here with no knowledge about her fate.

"He is busy." he answered briefly.

The same answered Ken has been giving me for two days.

"Then what is he planning to do with me?" I questioned, my chest heaving lightly.

If I'm going to stay here at Bloodthorn, then I have to at least know what my fate is going to be.

"I have no idea what goes on in the Alpha's mind. You will have to ask him that yourself." he replied.

I shrugged, frustrated.

"Then, can you at least let me out? I promise I won't run away." I told him.

Even if I want to, I have nowhere to go.

Stephen stayed silent for a while then nodded.

"As from today, you will be allowed to have your meals at the dinning."

"Thank you."I said before he finished.

"I will wait here while you get ready, then I will take you." he added, closing the door.

I immediately hurried into the bathroom, and take a bath then found a number of clothes and underwear in the closet.

Strangely, every clothes in the room is white.

I picked a knee-length, halter-neck dress and let down my hair then proceed out of the door.

I followed Stephen, and took an elevator I didn't know exist downstairs to the dinning.

The lady she came inside the other day to speak with Xavier was sitting on one of the chairs.

Her face glowed beautifully in floral gown, her blonde hair styled in a neat bun.

"Clara?" Stephen called, seemingly surprised to see her.

Clara stood from her seat, beaming with smiles, and came to my side.

"Raina, is it?" she asked, grabbing my hand, and I felt a bit unsettling by her friendliness, surprised she even knows my name.

I only told that to Xavier.

I responded with a smile, and she pulled me with her to sit at the table beside her.

"Xavier made it clear that you must remain in bed." Stephen cautioned, but Clara shrugged.

"He's been in my room for three nights straight and won't even let me out of bed." she responded causally, spooning some soup for herself.

"Three nights?" I thought silently, but the look on my face betrayed me.

A cold wave rolled through my chest and I dropped my spoon.

I thought Xavier doesn't have a woman by his side and somehow concluded that he had been really busy in the past few days.

Turns out, he was with her, in her room.

Clara turned to me, placing her hand on mine again.

"I spoke to him about letting you accompany me to eat this afternoon, that way, I wouldn't be so bored all day." she said and I realized again that she is the reason why Stephen agreed to let me out of the room, not because I asked.

I stared at her, a bit surprised and nodded gratefully.

"Thank you."

I'm just a prisoner bought to satisfy both Xavier and his woman. Probably the future Queen of Bloodthorn pack.

My face dampened, and I turned towards the meal served in front of me, picking up my spoon slowly.

"I will have someone lead you back to your room when you are done." Stephen said, leaving.

"It's just us." I muttered, staring at the empty chairs."

"Only Xavier and I eat at the table, others eat elsewhere. Sometimes Stephen joins us too." Clara explained.

I wanted to ask where Xavier is at the moment, a bit curious but she offered an explanation before I could.

"Xavier wouldn't be joining us. He left the room this morning to attend to some work." she said, grinning.

"I told him not to worry but he…" she continued but I already zoomed out.

I picked at my food slowly, feeling weird out to hear her speak so causally and intimately about Xavier and swallowed the food each time, forgetting to chew.

"How did you know Xavier?"

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and found her staring at me.

"Huh?"

She repeated her question, and I noticed the cheerful grin is off her face. Rather, she seemed fierce.

I inhaled, not sure what to tell her. If her relationship with Xavier is as I assumed, then wouldn't it be bad to tell her he bought at an auction as a breeder.

"I… I was…" I stuttered, biting my lower lips.

"Miss Clara," Ken's voice interrupted, and I sighed with relieve.

He came to us, and I stood up quickly.

"I'm done. I will return to the room now." I said, hurrying away towards the path I followed.

Despite my confusion, I managed to find my way back to the room, getting inside.

I huffed, landing on the bed, and closed my eyes, trying to empty my thoughts but ended up falling asleep.

Something heavy pressed against my waist clearing off my dizziness. I turned sharply and froze, shocked to see Xavier's arm draped across me, his breath warm against my neck.

'What is he doing here? Shouldn't he be at work or return to Clara's room?'

I mumbled, speechless by his shamelessness, and when did he come in?

The smell of his body sent a soothing feeling to my body as his hand wrap firmly around my waist.

"Why are you here?" I asked, tapping him, and pushed his hand away, but he returned them.

"I'm tired, I need some sleep." he muttered, not opening his eyes and my heart raced.

He was lying too closed, so much that I can see clearly the pores on his face and the tiredness on them.

It must be from taking care of Clara all night.

"Why are you doing that here is what I'm asking?" I questioned, raising my voice.

"It would just take a while." he replied instead, snuggling closer like we weren't already closed enough.
