James looked at the option that popped up only a few years after he put the new system into action. He was now given the choice on who to pick as the next king of a kingdom. Namely, Armin's kingdom.
'Sigh… the bald fellow was only just conquering all the kingdoms around him, and now he passed away. Life is simply too fleeting for the Jerries,' James lampooned while going through the options for both the children.
Moment later, he selected one. Both were good options. Their lives were brought up in James' mind using some Collective Energy, and he knew their personalities from this. They were both hardworking and cared for family, if only they were born of the same mother.
However, one of them had a living mother as well as a maternal family that was financially strong. The other did not, as the mother had passed away, and was from commoner origin without much backing. Giving the throne to the latter might cause the former to become resentful and try to usurp the throne.
James did not want to see the kingdoms he had built with so much effort fracture. Not yet at least. Only when the population was large enough would it make sense to allow them to split.
As such, he picked the younger child, the one with financial backing as the king, and the ranking popped up in front of the child. While the other child received another pop-up, notifying him that the younger child was selected, as well as the reasons for the same.
He also sent a notification to all other kings that the king of the strongest kingdom had passed, and the new king was selected. Then, he turned his attention away from the world for a bit. He was about to made a trade with another race spirit.
==========
Private Communication
Recipient: Night Sky
James Wehrmacht: To summarise, you are willing to give me information on how to give magic to my species?
Night Sky: I am making deals with all spirit races who are willing to or have the time to communicate. We race spirits are too much at a disadvantage compared to the World Gods, and we must band together against them.
James Wehrmacht: And all you want in exchange is Collective Energy?
Night Sky: Yes. I have asked the system. For private communications like these, race spirits can transfer Collective Energy up to 20,000 per year (God-space time) per race spirit, and World Gods can exchange their faith among each other. Of course, 10% of the exchanged Collective energy or Faith would be taken as a charge for the service.
James Wehrmacht: 19,000 Collective Energy… the price is too steep.
Night Sky: It is the price for the information.
James Wehrmacht: How about this, I will give you 1000 Collective Energy first, and you give me the information. I will use the information to allow my race to gain this magic you speak of, and if it works out as you promised, I will hand over the remaining 18,000 Collective Energy. And to ensure I hold my end of the deal, I will have the system enforce it.
Night Sky: … 2000 Collective Energy
James Wehrmacht: The system can ensure I give you the collective energy, and can ensure you give me the information, but it cannot ensure that your information holds true. I cannot take a risk more than 1000 Collective Energy on this.
Night Sky: Then you must also put it in the deal that you will not spread or share this information with others.
James Wehrmacht: Deal
Night Sky: Deal
==========
James had confirmed with the system, that it could be used to enforce deals such as this to ensure both parties completed their end of the deal. It could not ensure the validity of information, but it could make sure both parties give what they promised, so both James and Night Sky were satisfied with the deal.
Especially after the time limit of 1 year within the God Space was set for the payment.
…
James read through the information and frowned. The concept was actually pretty simply. He needed to make a large quantity of his population meditate in a seated position. Those with stronger willpowers would be able to remain longer.
Those who could remain meditating, emptying all thoughts from their minds, would slowly awaken magic. For Magic, talent and willpower were vital, along with time.
'He… but I don't need either of those things. I only need one. One individual with Magic,' James grinned.
The Magic Night Sky talked about involved slight control over the elements; like wind, water, and fire, as well as being highly intellectual, and living longer than normal individuals of the race.
'The living longer part would become irritating, as the life cycle of my Jerries would become longer, and the Collective energy I gain would reduce. But for something as fantastical as Magi, as well as the increased intelligence, it might just be worth it…' James nodded to himself as he began sending messages to the various kings, giving them instructions on how to set up the trails, making a large empty space with direct sunlight to allow the individuals to survive just on the sun, remaining completely motionless for longer.
'Now… let there be Magic!' James declared to himself.
