Chapter 7 - 7

Chapter 7. Status Card update?

***

Still in the west gate area. As adventurers made their way to the forest to hunt once more.

In his Status Card, Jake couldn't understand what was happening on it. The card surface was covered entirely in words, leaving no space within it.

"Jake, I would like to congratulate you. To think you found one of the rarest things in the entire world on your first day outside the town." Allen said to him.

"What's happening in your Status Card right now is nothing but a blessing. But first, let's go back to what you found. Status flowers or system flowers, they're called in many names. From the worshipers of the Goddess of Love and Pregnancy, the people call them…"

Allen took a deep breath before continuing. The words he was about to say were stupid. "The Goddess piss."

"What now?"

"The Goddess piss," Allen said again, keeping a stern expression. Roth, hearing him, could not help but laugh.

As both of them stared at each other, keeping a stern expression, Jake broke it off with: "Ok, ok, I think I get what you're trying to say. So. Can we move back to what's happening in my card?"

Allen, realizing what he was doing, agreed. "Fuck. Why did I even say those?" Rubbing the side of his head.

"Anyway, back to the topic. The spheres you ate just now are considered a Divine item. Eating one of them increased your stats by five, but eating an entire batch of them will do this to your Status Card."

"Now you've only just gone to a baptism or a coming of age ceremony, right?" Jake nodded.

"Then you don't have any skills yet on your [3 skills]?" He nodded again. "Good, what's happening in your card right now will give you one of the three. Active or passive skills. And maybe an item."

"You probably don't even know this since you didn't recognize the system flowers. But most people [3 skills] are either healing or escape-type skills. All of them are active skills too."

He understood what Allen said just now. In this world, everyone can only have active skills in their [3 skills] and is limited to the usage of 3 in them. Allen said he can have a skill thanks to the spheres he got, not just any skills but a Passive one.

"Then I can potentially obtain a passive skill as one of my [3 skills]?" Jake finally understands why they are crouching in the side and hiding what's happening now.

Since right now, he can finally get his first skill on his [3 skills], he needs to make sure his choice of it will truly help him. Gazing down at his card, Jake dropped saliva on it. Two seconds later the Status Card finally cleared.

[Status Card

Name: Jake

Age: 15. Mental: 19

Level: 1

Zero Skill: Switch.

Divine item: Spheres of creation.

Choose one of the three options of what you want.

{Active skills} {Passive skills} {Item}]

Gazing at it. He slowly pressed the {Passive skills} option. Sending the card to another format.

"Well, Good luck!" Allen said standing up. He has nothing left to say to Jake. From this moment, he could only have him in what he'll get, whether he regrets it or not.

Jake simply nodded once again to him. Sitting down on the ground to rest his sore feet, he looked at the countless skills in his card. What he will take right now will make a difference in his future.

Should he take a passive skill for weapons proficiency?

What about healing properties?

Maybe a crafting skill?

Too many. He had too many options on what he should choose.

If he were to take a weapon specialization, he might regret it in the future, after learning he's good at other weapons and other categories.

Magic was a good one? Being able to cast a spell is surely everyone's dream. Then… what about the mana needed to cast those spells? A bad choice for him to take.

He hasn't even leveled up once, and didn't know which stat increased greatly. If it turned out that his growth rate was in the Tank, this choice would doom him.

Then… Crafting skill? He is from Earth. With all of the knowledge he has of modern weapons and vehicles, he could surely live a peaceful and wealthy life in this world.

Then again, just because he knows what those weapons and vehicles look like that doesn't mean he can recreate them.

To think that choosing a skill was this hard. If he were just given a chance to choose another one in the future. Then he would have picked anything right now. And in the future changed it into another one.

But he knows he was not given a chance like that. Right now he needed to make sure the skill he would take is something he would not regret.

"Look at him, he's been in that place for two hours now," Allen said to Roth, as they glared at Jake still pondering which one he should take.

"I mean. Can you blame him? He's probably the first person in this century to have a passive skill in [3 skills]. If I were in his position, I would ask everyone I know which one I should take." Roth replied.

"Haha. True enough. Let's just pray for him not to mess with it." Allen said.

…..

Another two hours again. Jake finally stood up from his position and grabbed the things he got in the forest to sell them in the town. Taking the water pouch and dagger given to him by the two.

"So, what skill do you think he chose?" Allen asked Roth. Watching Jake leave the gate with a smile.

"Don't know. Probably a good one, with that smile on his face."

Making his way towards the east gate, Jake began to talk inwardly. 'System flowers. Though Allen said something about the Goddess of Love and Pregnancy, it's not really about her entirely. It's probably about the Gods themselves.'

Looking up at the sky. He wondered if these Gods were watching him at this moment. Back then on the day of baptism, he read a system panel saying the Gods found his existence pleasing.

'Hey Gods? Are you watching me right now? Then did I find these spheres on my own or did you guys send them to me?' He asked them, wondering if this was truly by his luck or their work.

But. No one answered his question. The sky was clear and no sort of distortion within it was happening. Then was this truly by his own luck?

'Maybe it is. Maybe I really found them on my own and not by your work. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter; all I'm glad about is that I now have a skill, except for my passive skill and Zero skill.'
