Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Within ten minutes.

An entire, heavily armed U.S. military squad was wiped out beneath the Abomination's hands.Human screams echoed through the inferno as flames devoured everything. A once-prosperous corner of the city had turned into a living hell.

The Abomination—like a monster born straight out of the abyss—stood atop a crushed vehicle, the flattened metal oozing with thick blood. It glanced down at its clenched fists, feeling the overwhelming, almost intoxicating power surging through its body. Its once-human face twisted into a savage grin of madness and satisfaction.

"P-Please… don't kill me…"

The soldier's rifle clattered to the ground. He was the last survivor—kneeling before the smoking ruins, staring in horror at what was left of his comrades. His spirit and will had long been shattered; his legs could no longer hold him up as he knelt amid pools of blood.

Along with his courage, his lifelong faith had crumbled too.

That monstrous power—so far beyond human reason—made him doubt whether God Himself could survive against such a creature.

The Abomination grinned at the trembling soldier and stepped forward. Each stride was like the toll of the Reaper's bell. The ground quaked beneath its feet.

The soldier didn't move. His hands pressed weakly against the ground as he waited for death to come.

Just as the Abomination wondered whether to crush him with its hands or stomp him into pulp, a silhouette flashed across the firelit night sky behind it.

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

Three streaks of white webbing struck the Abomination's bald head. It reached up, tugged, and found its hand coated in sticky white strands. Frowning, it turned toward the half-destroyed clock tower—and there, perched atop the broken spire, was a young woman in a black-and-white spider suit.

"Hey, big guy," Spider-Woman Gwen called down, cocking a finger with a teasing grin. "Wanna play?"

Without hesitation, she shot a line of web and swung away.

"ROOOAARR!"

The Abomination's roar shook the night.Ignoring the soldier entirely, it kicked off the ground—the street cracking beneath its strength—and rocketed toward the clock tower like a living missile. Without pause, it continued the chase, leaping after the fleeing Spider-Woman.

The soldier could only stare in disbelief—until a young voice called out from nearby.

"Hey, sir. Maybe use this chance to get out of here?"

He turned toward the sound—but there was nothing, only the burning ruins. No one in sight.

Even so, that voice jolted him back to his senses. Stumbling to his feet, he ran—fleeing the nightmare he would never forget.

From inside a nearby evacuated building, a silver-haired young man with a round shield on his back and a sword in hand watched from behind a window.

Vincent.

He let out a quiet sigh. Even he didn't know why—after deciding to leave—he'd suddenly followed Gwen back into the war zone.Something about that girl, risking everything to fight alone… he couldn't ignore it.

They'd only just met. She was just another superhuman stranger. So why couldn't he walk away?

"…Whatever. I'm already here. Might as well see how this plays out."

Vincent tightened his grip on his antique sword and leapt from the window, landing atop the church roof thirty meters above the ground. Not far away stood the ruined clock tower.

He crouched low, observing.

Gwen clearly knew she couldn't face the Abomination head-on.Instead, she swung through the empty city streets, using her webs to stay just ahead of the creature—darting through narrow alleys and broken windows, her petite form slipping through spaces barely wide enough for her body.

But still—the Abomination was right on her tail, relentless and unstoppable.Buildings shattered under its charge; anything in its path turned to dust.

BOOM!

It landed like a missile, smashing through a wall ahead of her. Hanging onto a jagged ledge, it reached out to grab her.At the last instant, Gwen twisted backward, pulling on her web to swing the other way—its massive green hand brushed her hood, tearing it to shreds.

"ROOOAARR!" The creature grew even more furious, chasing her into another alley.

"Holy—she almost got caught," Vincent muttered, his pulse quickening. But then his eyes narrowed. Gwen wasn't just running.

"She's luring it."

Her movements were deliberate—leading the Abomination toward the densest cluster of buildings in the area.

The alley walls cracked and crumbled as the creature smashed its way through. Dust billowed as it burst out the other side—only to find itself trapped.

Everywhere—above, behind, ahead—white webbing stretched between buildings, woven into a colossal spider's nest.

Blinded by rage, the Abomination charged straight in.

"Now!"

Just as Vincent predicted, Gwen moved fast—flipping and firing strands of web that lashed around the monster's limbs and head, anchoring them to the surrounding walls. In seconds, the webbing thickened, binding tighter and tighter.

Within five seconds, the Abomination was completely cocooned—its face and mouth sealed, its body glued to the web and the buildings around it.

"Damn… she's good," Vincent whispered, genuinely impressed.

Exhausted, Gwen finally slumped against the wall, breathing heavily. No one else was around. She reached up, tugging her mask slightly open—revealing a delicate chin, soft lips gasping for air, and the faint curve of a proud little nose.

Vincent froze.

Even from that glimpse—just half her face—he knew.

She looked exactly like someone he knew.
