Chapter 19: Cursed Spirits Die When They Are Killed
Undoubtedly, Emiya's true situation had been discovered.
While he never thought his identity could be hidden for long, the moment he chose to become a Sorcerer, he had already prepared for his true nature to be revealed.
In the Magecraft world, merely exhibiting exceptional magical talent could lead to being targeted by other Mages or being subject to 'Sealing Designation.' Throwing a Sorcerer into the Magecraft world would inevitably lead to them being hunted by a group of crazy, curious Mages, as Mages are fundamentally inhumane.
The reverse situation, throwing a Mage into the Jujutsu world, would likely result in them being used for research, even though the overall moral standard of the latter is much higher than the former.
Of course, in the latter case, if you were willing to unconditionally share your knowledge, you might be able to secure a certain amount of living space.
However, if you possessed the strongest power in the world, the situation would be entirely different.
This was initially the worst-case scenario, because Sorcerers are not completely limited by innate talent like Mages; any non-Sorcerer can potentially awaken as a Sorcerer. Therefore, in a better scenario, Emiya still had a chance to genuinely become a Sorcerer before being discovered.
But he never imagined that he would be seen through so easily.
The Strongest in the Jujutsu world didn't even use any specialized method; he was just 'seeing' with the vision beneath his blindfold.
Emiya instantly tensed all his nerves. Because of his past experiences, he would never romanticize the world with a fairytale view.
When faced with the 'unknown,' most people choose either to avoid it or to 'make it known.' Isn't it infinitely faster to kill the person outright or capture them for research than to achieve step-by-step cooperation through negotiation?
In this very moment, Emiya was ready to explode into action at any second. Since the person opposite him was 'The Strongest,' he had to demonstrate his 'strongest' immediately to even have a chance at survival.
But the reaction of Satoru Gojo to this situation was utterly unexpected.
"Ah-ah, scary, scary! Did I actually feel a sense of crisis just now for a moment and get startled?
You really are incredible!
Hahahahahahaha!"
Despite being the one who ignited the bomb in the most explosive way possible, Gojo was far from serious; instead, he was laughing joyously. Emiya could tell that his intense interest was genuine and that he truly harbored no hostility.
This person seems to be completely incapable of hiding his emotions. Is it because of his confidence as 'The Strongest' that he simply doesn't need to compromise for the sake of societal norms or others' opinions?
After finishing his laugh, he waved his hand in front of him, ironically comforting Emiya.
"It's okay, it's okay. Don't be so tense. I'm a young person, not one of those old geezers, so I can accept new things easily."
"Even a Grade 1 Sorcerer like Nanami-chan probably couldn't fully distinguish whether you, with your special ability, are actually a Sorcerer, but I can.
Because of...
This."
Gojo's tone suddenly became serious. He leaned his head close to Emiya without hesitation and gently pulled his blindfold down halfway with a finger.
Emiya saw it.
What a magnificent pair of eyes.
Beneath eyelashes that matched his white hair were azure-blue eyes enveloped in mist. The pupils were bright and profound, spiraling inward infinitely, containing the weight of an entire sky. They were eyes that, just by looking at them, could leave a person stunned and awestruck, making it understandable why he chose to hide them behind a blindfold.
Born into the Gojo family with the Limitless technique, Satoru Gojo is a man favored by the Heavens.
This talent is not only demonstrated in his technique but also in the unique trait passed down through the Gojo family, an eye that appears once every few centuries: the Six Eyes.
Directly distinguishing whether someone is a Sorcerer is merely a minor side effect of it. It grants 360-degree, blind-spot-free vision; a preternatural ability for long-distance sight; vision that isn't obscured by physical barriers; and a special sight that can see through an opponent's technique and predict Cursed Energy trajectories.
And most importantly, it allows the user to manipulate Cursed Energy with such precision that they can use it down to the atomic level.
This precise manipulation of Cursed Energy, impossible without the Six Eyes, is a necessary condition for mastering the Gojo family's inherited technique, Limitless.
Without the talent of the Six Eyes, even inheriting the technique would render it unusable. And possessing only the Six Eyes without inheriting the technique would merely result in greater combat talent.
Satoru Gojo just happens to be the monster who inherited both the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique simultaneously.
However, due to certain past experiences, the man born into a Sorcerer clan is dissatisfied with the corrupt status quo of the Jujutsu world, which relies entirely on 'family' to sustain and pass down its power. But having only one 'Strongest' isn't enough; even if he killed all the higher-ups in the Jujutsu world, it would only make the world worse.
Cursed Spirits are the same; they are endless, disgusting things that simply grow back after being killed off.
This is why he came to Jujutsu High, deciding to nurture new talent through education and gradually instigate reform in the Jujutsu world.
This is what Satoru Gojo explained to Emiya—why, upon learning that Emiya was not a Sorcerer, he had no malicious intent but was instead extremely excited.
"Exactly, exactly! It's great that someone as special as you has appeared. A stagnant world is incredibly boring!"
You have to remember, as The Strongest in the Jujutsu world, Satoru Gojo is either killing Cursed Spirits or on his way to kill Cursed Spirits every day. It's like a person on a rat-catching squad; would they be excited about how many rats they killed today? It's too boring!
Saying this, Gojo reorganized his thoughts and tried to ask Emiya a question.
"So, so... without Cursed Energy, you actually can't see Cursed Spirits, right? Were you able to pinpoint the Cursed Spirits' location solely through a physical instinct?"
"I haven't reached the level of a Mind's Eye. It's just that Cursed Spirits unleash their malice toward me without reserve, allowing me to locate them based on that malice." Emiya answered truthfully.
"I see. That's how it is." This reminded Gojo of the enemy who once exerted infinite pressure on him, the man with the Heavenly Restriction, Toji Fushiguro.
"So, how did you, a person with no Cursed Energy, manage to exorcise a Grade 1 Cursed Spirit?" As everyone knows, Cursed Energy is the only weapon truly effective against Cursed Spirits.
"How did I do it?"
"I used Heracles's secret sword technique to simultaneously attack its nine weak points, and then I simply 'killed' it." Emiya again told the truth.
"...Hah???"
