Logan looked up and saw her with a sandwich and happily took it. "I need the brain power. Thank you," and immediately ate it.
Vorden told Quinn it was the right decision then she heard the voice of someone she had not met. "It looks like Truedream made a decision on what to do with you."
Lana's face went pale and she dropped to the floor. "Is he coming back?" she whimpered. She wrapped her arms around her knees and started rocking back and forth. Vorden tried to calm her but it didn't help much and Sil could not come out in front of everyone. Logan was the one to explain everything to her which upset Quinn and Vorden. She knew a lot of it already just not that Peter had been changed into Pio Blank using a transformation ability. She calmed down after having a full grip of the situation.
She took a deep breath and said, "Did you get the recording that he plans to spring a trap on me tomorrow night?"
Logan nodded. "I wanted to talk to you about that. What's your plan?"
"If they do what I think they will," she took a deep breath and then another. "If what happens is what I think will happen, I will need you to send all the evidence we've collected to Dr. Hayley. I have every reason to believe Duff is now loyal to me. I have asked him to keep the act up. I think I will buy him the next level book as well on the way back to my tree. You've uploaded the fake videos?"
The others all stood there listening to her and felt it was their turn to have no clue what was happening. It was Vorden's turn to panic but he couldn't show it. Had she taken the time to look that direction, she may have found it comical, but she knew she couldn't do that right now. This conversation was important.
"I do have a question for you. Can I drop the Green family name if they try to go through my bag that has the prototype in it?"
Logan asked her to hand him the bag. He placed his hand on it and suddenly across the top of the back of the bag in clear letters it read "Proprietary Property of the Green Family. If found, return immediately to Logan Green".
Logan then looked her in the eye, "are you sure you want to do this?"
"From where I sit, I don't have a choice. There is no telling how many girls he's hurt that refuse to come forward. I need to quit running from my fears and letting others get hurt when I'm his target."
Vorden responded, "So you're going to let him hurt you?"
She took a deep breath. She knew this was coming. "What would you have me do? Have someone else solve my problems? Look at what happened today. The people at the top here, at this school have all the cards. I may need to play some of my own."
"Do you think the doctor will help?" Logan asked.
"Yes. I have worked with her all year. She is the reason Leo came looking for me. She cares and is the only person who has someone higher than Duke. It's my only chance. I just have to hope it's fast enough."
She looked each person in the room in the eyes. "The only three people on my team that are going to help me tomorrow are Kattie, Duff, and Almin."
"Include them all," it was Layla who chimed in.
"What?" Lana replied.
"Include them all. You guys are always together. If you exclude anyone it could cause problems. They are your team, your family, more so than with so many others here. Include them."
Lana sighed then nodded. "I'll have to discuss it with everyone tonight then. Speaking of which, I need to get over there. Do any of you want to join us for dinner?"
"Are you cooking? You said something about a tree?"
Lana chuckled, "yes, but if you're bringing Cia, then you are officially uninvited. I cook dinner for my team every day and sometimes lunch. My roommate has started helping me. With Logan's new technology, the cooking is way faster than prep time now. We will be having steaks. The guys went and got them at lunch."
"I'm in!" Vorden said.
"Why no Cia?" Layla asked.
"You didn't see it on that planet but she touched Vorden inappropriately on the way through the portal. I saw it with my own eyes as I was looking around at the area. She dropped her hand really quick but he was there in front. It was plain to see for anyone looking and his expression said it all. It was uninvited. I'm highly sensitive to such …misconduct. If I see her, there is a high chance she is going to get sent to Doctor Hayley."
Layla looked at Vorden and he nodded. They all now understood her character.
After a brief stop at the library to purchase a book, Vorden and Lana reached the tree.
"Okay guys, we are trying out a new field kitchen tonight. If I understand correctly, I can't put it up under the tree. It needs to be over there so, care to follow me?" she smiled to everyone.
She went to open the bag and noticed Logan had put a fingerprint access on it when he added the words and used the finger that opened her room door. It opened. She grinned. Logan sure seemed to think of everything.
She pulled out a rather large metallic rectangle. Just like the other, this had a button on top. She followed the arrow for up and placed it in the middle of an open area and pressed the button. There was an immediate response and the thing seemed to keep growing and growing. They had to scurry away as they watched in awe. The end result was a domed structure with a door.
Lana pressed the button to open the door, which was also a fingerprint sensor, afraid she was going to break something. Inside was a kitchen in the middle, U-shaped with a rectangular table for 6 in the middle. Around the outside of the interior, there were five cots. All were metallic. There were drawers under the back half of the cots to put clothing, like the feet would be pointing to the wall. The front half had an empty space for stowing gear. She could hear whistling behind her but was too stunned to turn around and see who it was.
The cabinets in the kitchen went to the top of the dome which was 7-foot tall. The edges where the cots met the wall were only 3 feet tall. At the end of the cabinets on the right-hand side was a control panel. The list of options was heating, cooling, turning on music, lighting which had 3 options, an open button for the door, and a help feature which had an automated option for walking a person through how to operate all the functions of this "Model 118 Luxury-deluxe Field Kitchen". There was a video screen on the back side of the cabinets on the left side with a couch for 5 opposite it. This thing was rated to negative 70 degrees. But heat only went to 120. Still, that was a lot of planets this thing could be taken to.
Lana's first complaint was she had to go outside to grow the food and bring it in. There were a lot of empty cabinets which meant they could theoretically set this up for a week and stock it while on an extended hunting mission, using this as a base of operations. The boys all played with the controls while she and Kattie began cooking. Soon nice music was playing then an argument started over what kind of music should be playing. Lana had to step in and choose something soft and soothing. While everyone was doing that, Duff decided to walk around the interior. He discovered on the back side of the kitchen was a miniature bathroom the width of the back side of the cabinets, about 5 feet but only 4 feet deep.
The toilet didn't use water. The instructions on the wall said to do your business then seal the top down and press the button. Curious, he decided to try it. He had a bit of urine in him so he relieved himself. He followed the directions and closed the lid, put the little clips down. Then he hit the button. A green light on the wall turned red and he heard a click. He heard a loud whoosh sound like a rush of hot air. It lasted a few moments then the light turned green and he heard a click. He opened it and the bowl was empty and sparkling clean. By now a few of the guys were curious about the sound so the boys got to play with the toilet while the girls cooked. They were unable to try the sink or shower which were all integrated. Toilet lid doubled as a seat to use while showering. The shower head was above the door and the sink was next to the toilet. It was not very big. Under the "flush' button was a "dry" button. Alto would need to add water to the tank under the sink in there to enable the boys to play with it further. They decided to go sit at the table.
Not long after, everyone had their choice-cooked steaks and everything else they cooked to go with it. The group began to sing Logan's praises for the kitchen and Lana and Kattie for the meal. Lana sat on the counter because there were seven people eating and six chairs.
Once everyone was done eating, they placed their dishes in the sink. Alto filled the tank, which was larger than the tanks in the other two models. Lana pressed the clean button and the same mechanical arms and steam came out to clean just as with the other two models.
She then asked everyone to take a seat and took a deep breath. "There's something we need to talk about."
