The conference continued after the short break.
Everyone filed back into the hall, taking their seats. I sat in mine and listened as the speakers rotated the stage. One speech blended into the next. Market trends.
Expansion plans. Global projects. I tried to keep my mind focused, but my mind kept circling back to one thing.
During one of the closing remarks for the session, the chairman cleared his throat and said, "Before we conclude for the afternoon, there's an announcement."
The room quieted.
"Tonight, we will be officially introducing the newest member of the Global Network Group of Industries," he said.
"As you all know, the Global Network Group is a subsidiary under the Romano Group of Industries."
My back straightened.
I hadn't heard anything about this.
"This addition represents a strategic move toward diversification and international leverage," the chairman continued. "We look forward to welcoming them formally at tonight's session."
