Chapter 6 - Chapter 6- Triplets

In the year 2162, Devin, the mother of many boys, was pregnant again. He had recently given birth to a baby named Blaze. His four-year-old son, Charlie, longed to be present for the birth, but his young age prevented him from doing so. Devin went to the hospital for the delivery, and the hospital staff informed him that he would be having twins.

Upon arriving home, Devin sighed deeply, already feeling the weight of his growing belly. Though it was only December, the babies' due date wasn't until March. "How many babies are there, Momma?" Charlie inquired. "They said two," Devin replied as he removed his shoes. However, Charlie, with his keen observation, interjected, "Momma, it looks like more than two." Devin, understanding Charlie's concern, addressed his son with a gentle reminder. "Baby, I appreciate your desire to take care of me and your siblings, but you're still just a kid. Let yourself enjoy being a child, my sweetness." Devin affectionately rubbed Charlie's head as he walked past, acknowledging his son's love and care.

Later that week, Charlie displayed an increased preoccupation with his mother's pregnancy. "When are the babies expected to arrive?" Charlie inquired. "Not until the end of March. It is almost the end of December. I have about three months to go," Devin replied. "Two things, Mom," Charlie said. "One, you appear bigger than if you were carrying two babies. Two, I have a feeling the babies might come out earlier than the end of March."

With a smile, Devin requested, "Charlie, please stop worrying, baby." He proceeded with his daily routine, cleaning the house and doing chores. Charlie asked, "Shouldn't dad help you, mom?" Devin replied, "He's at work," as he picked up baby toys. Charlie reassured him, "I got this, momma," and collected the remaining toys.

As the pregnancy progressed, the due date drew closer, falling in the month of March. Throughout this period, Sam, the father, provided no assistance. In contrast, Charlie, the 4-year-old child, contributed as much as possible given their age.In preparation for the babies' arrival, Devin constructed two cribs. Charlie, cautious and well-prepared, set up an additional crib as a contingency plan.

It was the beginning of March, and Charlie felt anxious, fearing that something might go awry. Meanwhile, Devin, having just entered the first week of March, was still relatively unconcerned. Sam, recently, has been arriving home intoxicated with increasing frequency. Due to his round shape, Devin encountered difficulty getting out of bed. In contrast, Garret, the oldest son, despite being only six years old, lacked the intelligence to adequately care for his five younger siblings.

Charlie was responsible for caring for his siblings, and was extremely concerned about his father possibly harming his pregnant mother. Thankfully their father was barely there.

On March 15th, three babies were born two weeks ahead of their due date. In a traumatic experience, Charlie assisted his mother during childbirth, leaving Devin convinced that he did not want any more children.
