Tonia's POV
I didn't bother knocking. The door flew open under my desperate push as I burst into the room, my heart hammering against my ribs. My eyes swept the space frantically until they landed on the scene before me.
A woman knelt on the floor, her back turned toward me. But that wasn't what made my blood run cold.
It was Kermit.
He lay on his side, heavy chains binding his wrists and ankles. His bare chest glistened with sweat, and his breathing came in harsh, labored gasps. The sight of him like this sent pure terror shooting through my veins.
The woman sprang to her feet, clutching a wooden bowl. Her wide eyes locked onto mine with obvious shock.
"Who the hell are you?" I demanded.
She straightened, her expression hardening. "Are you insane? You break into this place and think you get to ask questions? Who are you?"
