Tonia's POV
Darkness had settled over the house when my stomach finally protested with a sharp growl, reminding me that I hadn't consumed anything since dawn.
I wandered into the kitchen, searching through cabinets and drawers for something quick to eat. The only thing that didn't require preparation was a loaf of bread sitting on the counter. The refrigerator was stocked with raw ingredients, but I couldn't find any prepared meals or leftovers. The thought struck me that Kermit probably hadn't eaten either since arriving at this place.
I made myself a simple meal of bread and strawberry jam, then began wiping down the kitchen table when Suzanne appeared in the doorway.
Her presence immediately filled the room with tension. I could feel her eyes burning into me as she moved toward the refrigerator and pulled out a water bottle.
