Tonia's POV
Even with the guards scouring the territory, Bradley had managed to slip away without a trace.
The thought chilled me to the bone. If he could infiltrate our pack so effortlessly, appearing in that restroom like some nightmare made flesh, then nowhere was truly safe. I wasn't truly safe.
While trapped in that bathroom with him, pure adrenaline had kept me functioning. Now that the immediate danger had passed, the full weight of terror crashed over me like a tidal wave.
The man who had brutalized me for endless hours had nearly gotten his hands on me again.
Ryder handled the drive home while Kermit and I occupied the backseat, his fingers intertwined tightly with mine.
"You're protected now, Tonia. He's gone," he murmured repeatedly, clearly sensing the tremors that still coursed through my body.
Words failed me completely. When we arrived and he escorted me to my bedroom, a different kind of dread took root in my stomach.
