Tonia's POV
"Tonia Alexa." Zack's voice cut through the silence like a blade, his cold smile spreading across his face as he leaned against the doorframe with predatory ease. "How absolutely delightful to see you again."
Every instinct screamed at me to run, but I knew better. Movement would trigger their chase, and these hunters never failed to catch their prey.
"I told you we should have searched this place first," a woman's voice taunted from behind him, her satisfaction evident.
"You were right, Zara. I underestimated our little Siphon's stupidity," Zack replied, his eyes never leaving mine. "Never thought she'd abandon the protection of her savior just to crawl back to this dump."
My throat felt like sandpaper as I swallowed hard, the sound seeming to echo in the tense silence. Fear coursed through my veins, but I forced myself to speak.
"How did you track me down?"
