The moment I had been dreading finally arrived, no matter how desperately I had prayed it never would.
Kermit gripped my trembling fingers as he guided me through the massive hall that typically hosted Council trials. But this gathering was different. He had called together not just the Council members, but dozens of other Wolves as well.
What could he possibly be planning?
Without his steady hand anchoring me, I might have collapsed before reaching the platform.
Hushed conversations rippled through the crowd as we ascended the stage together.
Everyone I had ever known stood before us, including the dreaded Executioners whose very presence made my skin crawl.
