Tonia's POV
Her words hit me like a slap across the face. If we weren't surrounded by a room full of watching doctors, I would have told her exactly where she could shove her condescending attitude.
She flashed me that fake smile before backing away, rejoining the cluster of physicians gathered outside to observe my every move.
I drew in a steadying breath and approached the patient on the operating table.
The instant my fingers made contact with his skin, clarity washed over me. I could sense exactly what needed to be done, what would pull him back from death's door.
This surgery would push every skill I possessed to its limit, but something deep inside told me I was capable of succeeding.
OUTSIDE THE OPERATING ROOM
"This feels like we're throwing her to the wolves, Solace. You should have started her off with something manageable," Dr. Katherine voiced what several others were thinking.
