Tonia's POV
I found myself completely lost in this unfamiliar city where Bradley had dragged me. The street signs meant nothing to me, and I had no idea how far I was from Capital City. When I called Kermit, all I could give him was the address of the shop next to where I sat.
The wait stretched on endlessly. Exhaustion finally claimed me, and I drifted off to sleep right there on the cold pavement.
A soft touch on my shoulder pulled me back to consciousness.
"Tonia."
My eyes opened slowly, and shock coursed through me when I saw Kermit crouched beside me on the ground.
He actually came for me.
But was this real? Maybe I was dreaming.
"Kermit?" I whispered, squinting at him in the dim light, needing to confirm he wasn't just a figment of my desperate imagination.
Darkness still cloaked the street, but I could see his familiar features clearly. He looked exactly as I remembered, even dressed simply in dark jeans and a black shirt.
