Tonia's POV
The torment that followed my encounter with Lorelei was unbearable. Sleep eluded me completely when I returned to Shadowpeak, and food held no appeal whatsoever.
I found myself constantly switching between clutching the ultrasound scan and fingering the delicate necklace around my throat. These tangible reminders were all I had left to connect me to what I'd lost. The mental anguish of knowing they were gone was slowly destroying me from the inside out.
Eventually, when the crushing weight of my thoughts threatened to drive me to madness, I reached for the pills.
It wasn't my wisest decision. I had sworn off them completely, made promises I intended to keep.
But desperation won. I craved relief from this suffocating pain, and my dreams were the only sanctuary available to me.
The medication worked its magic swiftly, pulling me into unconsciousness.
