Tonia's POV
Sterling must have caught the terror in my expression because his lips curved into that familiar cruel smile. "Relax, will you? I only want to have a conversation."
He pressed his back against the wall, folding his arms as if we were having some casual chat over coffee.
"Do you recall those occasions when you were frustrated that I never brought you to my bed?"
My throat went dry at his words. Why was he dragging this up now?
Rather than allowing him to control this discussion through my anxiety, I steeled myself to appear confident.
"Oh, you mean all those nights you paraded different women through the house and forced me to hear their screaming? Of course I remember."
He actually laughed. How could he find this amusing?
"I wanted to apologize to you, Tonia."
I let out a harsh laugh. "Apologize for what exactly? For rejecting me because I was too hideous to even look at?"
