Chapter 3 - The Showdown — Lin Yi vs. Rhino

"What the hell am I doing? What are you doing?!"Spider-Gwen shouted while swinging forward with her webs, clutching Lin Yi in one arm. "Why did you have to provoke that guy like that?! Do you really want him to crush you on the spot?!"

Behind them, Rhino, now in full berserk mode, locked his crazed eyes on Lin Yi and charged straight through the streets, smashing everything in his path.

"Hah~ that's enough," Lin Yi retorted coolly. "So you're going to risk innocent lives just to save me?"

He sounded almost offended, and his words dripped with moral manipulation — classic emotional blackmail.

"If you hadn't pissed off that monster, no one would be in danger!" Gwen snapped back.

"Oh really? Then where was that logic when you got sent flying by that rhino?"

"I—"

"If I hadn't stepped in to save you, you'd be a paper-thin spider pancake by now!"

"I would not!" Gwen protested, clearly flustered, trapped in her own contradiction.

"Oh yeah? Then why are you still running away from him? You're swinging around terrified, refusing to fight, just webbing through the city like you're on a field trip! Tell me, why act so tough when you're scared stiff?"

The spider eyes on Gwen's mask narrowed sharply. "If you hadn't interfered, I would've taken that idiot down myself already!"

"Me interfering?!" Lin Yi countered. "If it weren't for me, you'd have been roadkill under that bus in the first thirty seconds, okay?!"

"You're right," Gwen said through gritted teeth, "but that's only because you couldn't beat him, which caused all this!"

"Oh? If you'd taken him out faster, could he have even thrown that bus? Be honest—he aimed that thing at you, not me!"

"You—!"

Spider-Gwen was getting truly fired up now, her voice full of exasperation as Lin Yi trolled her with perfect precision.

"Ah, kids these days," Lin Yi sighed dramatically. "You get a little power and think you can handle everything alone. No consideration for other people's feelings. But fine, I get it. I forgive you."

Gwen actually let out a laugh — one of disbelief and frustration. Lin Yi's shameless double standards and smug calmness were driving her insane. For the first time, she was on the receiving end of a psychological combo attack from the East.

"Alright then!" she snapped. "Since you're so confident, I'll let you handle him yourself!"

"Ha! Would've been better to do that earlier," Lin Yi said casually. "Could've saved a lot of innocent people down there."

Gwen wanted to retort but found herself at a loss for words. She could tell Lin Yi wasn't a bad person, but damn, did he know how to push buttons.

With a few swift web shots, she swung down to the street and set Lin Yi on solid ground. Taking a deep breath, Gwen straightened up into her combat stance again.

"Fine," she said sharply. "Since you're so confident, I assume you've got a plan?"

"Of course." Lin Yi smiled, calm as ever.

"Good. Then tell me, and we'll beat this guy together!"

"Hmph~ actually, I could do it alone," Lin Yi said with an infuriating smirk. "But if you insist on helping, that's fine. The plan's simple — I'll take him head-on, and you hit him from the side when you get the chance."

"That's it?" Gwen blinked. "That's your plan?"

"Yup. Simple and effective. Now get ready — he's coming."

Lin Yi began walking toward the rampaging Rhino, completely unbothered. The ground trembled as the monster charged, smashing through cars and flipping a truck like cardboard. Yet Lin Yi didn't even flinch. He just cracked his neck, hands in pockets, smirking with quiet confidence.

Rhino roared and lunged, horn lowered to impale Lin Yi straight through the chest—

"Smash! Za Warudo! Time—stop!"

Half a second of frozen time.

To Gwen, it looked like Lin Yi teleported. One instant he was about to be skewered, the next he was several meters away, standing coolly with his hands still in his pockets, gazing down at Rhino like a final boss.

He wasn't just showing off—well, okay, maybe a little. But really, he was waiting for his passive cooldown to reset.

Lin Yi's time-stop ability was powerful, but the three-second cooldown could easily get him killed if he wasn't careful. His true weapon wasn't just his power — it was his control and combat sense.

Rhino spun around, grinding asphalt under his feet, and charged again. Lin Yi sidestepped with a smooth right spin, barely grazing the horn's edge. Then again. And again.

Each time, he dodged within a hair's breadth, every move calculated, until finally—

The white weak point appeared on Rhino's body again.

Lin Yi's eyes lit up. "Heh~ my turn."

He flicked his hand like a martial arts master. "Let's dance."

He charged forward. Rhino roared and swung a massive fist down. Lin Yi bent backward just enough, twisting his waist and unleashing a spinning whip kick—

WHACK!

A sharp, clean strike to Rhino's kidney — right on the weak point. One percent true damage dealt. It wasn't much, but it made Rhino howl in pain.

Rhino threw another punch, but Lin Yi, now boosted by a 25% speed increase, spun to the right and dodged easily, keeping up his rhythm. He moved like he was dancing, every dodge flowing into the next.

He even began to show off, switching to a capoeira-style rhythm — all flowing kicks and spins — like a fighter taunting his prey.

This only enraged Rhino further. He charged and swung wildly, the ground cracking under his blows. But Lin Yi danced through them effortlessly, a blur of motion, a ghost that Rhino could never quite touch.

From the sidelines, Gwen's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Her spider-sense, her agility, her speed — all of it came from superhuman powers. But Lin Yi? Wasn't he just some guy? How was he keeping up with a monster like Rhino?

Every three seconds, Lin Yi struck again, perfectly on rhythm. Any smarter opponent would've figured out his pattern by now — someone like Deathstroke or Taskmaster would've adapted instantly. But Rhino? The ultimate brute? Not a chance.

If Rhino ever managed to deduce Lin Yi's rhythm, Lin Yi swore he'd eat dirt on the spot. But he didn't. Rhino just kept raging.

A minute passed. Lin Yi had already chipped away nearly 20% of Rhino's health. The beast was panting now, body aching, mind dizzy, but still refusing to give up.

And the angrier he got, the easier Lin Yi read him. Every reckless charge, every sloppy punch — it was all predictable. Lin Yi began pressing even harder, mixing in extra attacks even when his weak-point timer wasn't up.

He'd completely adapted to Rhino's rhythm. No more running. No more dodging just to survive. Now, he was toying with him.

Dodge a punch, whip a kick.Duck a kick, return three punches.

The rhythm was smooth, relentless — like a perfectly tuned Rageblade. Not lethal, but humiliatingly efficient.

Even Gwen, watching from the side, was stunned speechless.

Was this even possible? Could Rhino really be fought like this?

And Lin Yi—was he seriously not afraid of taking a single hit from that monster?
