Chapter 6 - 6

Central Park covers a total area of 340 hectares, measuring 0.8 kilometers wide and 4 kilometers long.

In New York, where land is incredibly valuable, especially in the bustling Manhattan district, to have such a large plot of land reserved for planting trees? Thinking about it, it truly is quite unbelievable.

Of course, whether it's worth it or not is a matter for the mayor and even Congress to consider. As an 'ordinary person,' Shi Xiaolei wouldn't bother with such irrelevant questions. Like most people living nearby, he simply regarded it as a common recreational spot.

When he had free time, he would come here for a walk, or bring his family to breathe in the rare fresh air of the city. As for other things, why bother with so much? Isn't it tiring?

The shop closed at 3:15 PM, and they left at 3:30 PM.

Because the small shop was located in Chinatown in Lower Manhattan, not very far, it only took a quarter of an hour for the family of three to arrive at Central Park.

With the little girl, Conna, riding on his neck, and his hands supporting her small legs, Shi Xiaolei strolled forward, chatting with 2B, who was walking beside him, carrying a picnic basket.

Precisely because he had a little girl riding on his neck, from behind, Shi Xiaolei's height of over two meters didn't seem as striking as usual. Coupled with 2B's gentle demeanor and Conna's chattering laughter... Well, mainly because both 2B and Conna had white hair, which easily led people to misunderstand, so when the three of them were together, it really did feel a bit like 'a young couple taking their child out.'

They followed the walking path to a wide lawn.

Jumping down from Shi Xiaolei's shoulder, the little girl immediately saw someone playing with pet dogs there. She eagerly went over, used her cuteness to her advantage, and quickly got permission to play with a few small dogs.

Shi Xiaolei unslung his small crossbody bag and pulled out a picnic blanket, while 2B opened the picnic basket and took out some small snacks.

Before long, their small picnic spot was set up.

"Hmm?" Looking around, Shi Xiaolei realized something was missing and couldn't help but raise a hand to pat his forehead.

"Sylvia, keep an eye on Conna. I'll go to the parking lot." Looking at the little girl giggling twenty meters away, he retracted his gaze and smiled apologetically at 2B: "I forgot the pudding box in the car. I'll go get it."

"Mm." It wasn't a big deal, and 2B nodded obediently.

Waving to Conna from a distance, Shi Xiaolei turned and left the lawn, walking back along the path they had come from.

Nothing happened on the way, but as he retrieved the item, closed the car door, and was about to return, some strange phenomena appeared in the sky.

Looking up in the direction of the sound, a small black shadow, with flames erupting from its feet, shot straight into the sky like a firecracker. Another slightly larger black dot, trailing a thick plume of black smoke, clung tightly behind it.

"Oh my~!" Others might not know what was happening, but as a transmigrator, Shi Xiaolei immediately guessed the situation.

That's right, the scene from "Iron Man 1" where Obadiah, piloting the Iron Monger, fought Tony Stark, was unfolding before Shi Xiaolei.

He didn't know the exact date, but he clearly remembered that their final confrontation began after dark. Looking at the current time, it was only a little past three in the afternoon, not yet four... Involuntarily, a flood of questions arose in Shi Xiaolei's mind.

Didn't this happen at night? Why is it in the afternoon now? Has something changed? Could it be that my presence as a transmigrator caused a chain reaction? Or is this not the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but some other Marvel parallel universe with an unknown designation?

With a head full of questions, Shi Xiaolei quickened his pace, returning to 2B and Conna's side as quickly as possible.

Perhaps because the surrounding vegetation was dense, blocking sound waves and sight, neither of them had noticed the anomaly just now. Just as Shi Xiaolei hesitated for a moment, and finally decided against alerting them for the sake of 'not spoiling the mood'...

Several whooshing sounds shot through the air, and the next second, several machine gun bullets pierced through the treetops, landing on the grass and creating a series of bullet holes.

Subconsciously looking up, Tony Stark in his armor and the bulky Iron Monger, tracing a double helix pattern like a DNA diagram in the air, both plummeted onto the lawn.

"Ah~~!"

"Woof woof, woof woof~!"

Human screams and dog barks completely shattered the originally quiet and leisurely atmosphere. Tourists sunbathing on the lawn scattered in all directions, shouting. Dog walkers forgot their pets, shirtless people forgot to put on clothes; it was utter chaos.

Without time to worry about others, Shi Xiaolei's eyes were bloodshot, and he charged forward—the situation was too sudden, and his mind had short-circuited a bit, making him forget that Conna was actually a giant dragon... Well, mainly because the Iron Monger's landing spot was too close to Conna, and the sight of the little girl covered in mud was too heartbreaking. In his urgency, Shi Xiaolei, who treated the little girl like his daughter, completely forgot the fact that with her strength, she couldn't possibly be harmed by those two tin cans.

It all happened in a flash.

The Iron Monger, with its thicker armor and more abundant energy, was the first to climb out of the crater.

Perhaps because it didn't land on the correct side, after getting up, the Iron Monger didn't face the crater where Iron Man was. Instead, it first saw Conna, holding a dog and standing in front of it with a head full of mud.

"Ugh~." The dog's trembling reaction made Conna feel a pang of sympathy. Her beloved costume being dirtied also made Conna very unhappy. Looking up at the towering Iron Monger, the little girl glared with puffed-out cheeks: "Bad guy~!"

Obadiah's object of hatred was only Tony Stark. No, strictly speaking, he didn't hate Tony Stark; he only targeted Tony Stark for money.

To be fair, as bad as this guy was, he wasn't yet at the point of being anti-human.

By all accounts, with Obadiah's personality, he shouldn't have been so cruel to a cute and harmless little girl like Conna.

The problem was Conna's cry of 'bad guy.'

Feeling that he was the greatest contributor to the growth and development of Stark Industries, believing his choices were the correct ones, yet unable to deny that his actions indeed violated laws and morals... With such a mindset, the last thing Obadiah wanted to hear was someone defining him as a villain.

"No, I am the one who made the right choice." The violence ignited by the battle, coupled with the loss of reason caused by his psychological extremism, led Obadiah to raise his right arm, open his giant palm, and grab at Conna.

Just as the little girl was about to be caught by the Iron Monger... the next moment, an angry roar came from the sky: "RUA~!!!!!!!!"
