Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Trainer Who Can't Stand Up to Pokemon Isn't a Good Trainer

"Aura... Power?" Ash mumbled, then quickly realized that this Aura Power was exactly what Champion Ash mentioned as the power to physically withstand Legendary Beasts, right?

Initially, he doubted the authenticity of this power. In fact, even now, he's somewhat skeptical. How could such a thing as a human body resisting the world's most powerful Pokemon happen in reality?

Ash's physique was considered outstanding among his peers in Pallet Town. In terms of physical fitness, no one in the entire town could match him. It seemed like a talent he was born with.

Yet, when facing the adorable Pikachu, he was still rendered powerless by its Thunder Shock. Even if he wore rubber gloves, Pikachu, if it wanted, could just directly aim its Thunder Shock at Ash's body, making the gloves practically useless.

So, if he were really to fight Pikachu, his chances of winning were practically zero.

If even a Newbie Pokemon was this tough, then against those Pokemon standing at the world's peak, a mere breath from them might heavily injure humans, right?

And now, the power he had questioned actually ended up being drawn by him.

[Champion Ash: So, did you get the result? What level of power did you draw? B? C? Even a D-level ability should be quite useful for you right now.]

Newbie Ash was like a blank slate, any ability would be a significant upgrade for him.

Even a relatively useless D-level ability meant he could gain some of the experience and even some abilities from the group version of Ash, which would be quite beneficial for Newbie Ash.

[Ash: Uh... I think I drew an S-level.]

[Unlucky Ash: Hold on, what do you mean you think you drew an S-level? Did you not look at the wheel seriously? The chance of drawing an S-level is only one in ten thousand, and you only spun it once, didn't you check it?]

A new Ash appeared in the group, though Ash didn't know what the term "Unlucky" meant, it was clear these words harbored a lot of malice towards humans.

[Ash: It's definitely S-level, that's what the prompt said. It said I drew an ability related to Aura Power, elevated my inner Aura Power to S-level, and transmitted to me the experience of using Aura Power, which I'll check specifically later.]

At this moment, Ash has 'seen' a light ball present in his mind, which should be the memory of experience regarding Aura Power as mentioned by the chat group. However, since he's still chatting in the group and hasn't returned to reality, he hasn't opened that light ball.

[Unlucky Ash: No! Impossible! I don't believe it! How can someone draw an S-level ability on their first try! It's not scientific! I don't believe it!]

[Ash: Uh... what's happening with this senior? He seems quite devastated.]

[Champion Ash: Ahem, don't mind him. His original name was Fishing Enthusiast Ash, but after too many futile fishing attempts, he changed it. However, his fishing skills are top-notch, and he once even hooked a Kyogre, though he couldn't capture it.]

[Champion Ash: Ever since joining the chat group, Fishing Ash has always wanted to draw battle-related abilities. That way, if he hooked a Legendary Beast again, he could battle to capture it. But... hehe, all his drawn abilities have been below B-level, with a highest record of ten consecutive draws resulting in five D-level abilities and five E-level abilities, all daily skills.]

[Ash: ...]

This sounds like such a tragic encounter, how could that be? If he remembers correctly, A and B have a small probability on that wheel, both adding up to about ten percent. If you include C, it could reach thirty percent.

Yet, to not even get a C in ten draws is too outrageous!

[Ash the Aura Guardian: So, in anger, he changed his name to Unlucky Ash, as his luck was astoundingly bad. He's considered the unluckiest in the entire group.]

Ash learned something new again: apparently, "Unlucky" implies having really bad luck.

[Ash: Question, how do you change your name? Also, what do you call someone with really good luck?]

[Ash the Aura Guardian: Someone with really good luck is called a "Lucky Emperor," but don't change your name to that or Fishing Enthusiast Ash might come after you. If you want to change your name, click the settings icon in the top left corner of the chat group, you can modify your name, personal signature, etc., but only once a month.]

Hearing this, Ash abandoned his idea of boasting about his luck. Though the other party couldn't physically come over to hit him, it was 'himself' after all! It's one thing to show off to others, but showing off to oneself, what does that even mean?

[Ash the Aura Guardian: But speaking of which, you ended up drawing my ability. For a newbie, drawing this ability is actually pretty good. When traveling in the wild, you'll encounter various dangers. Usually, these are addressed with your Pokemon, but for newbies, they have fewer Pokemon and their Pokemon's strength is average.]

[Ash the Aura Guardian: At this time, a Trainer needs to step up! As the saying goes, a Trainer who can't battle alongside their Pokemon isn't a good Trainer. An S-level ability essentially means you've inherited all my power, so now you should be able to face Champion-level Pokemon without being at a disadvantage.]

[Ash the Aura Guardian: Once you fully master my power, even Legendary Beasts will avoid you! So now, you don't need to worry about your safety during travels.]

Ash was a bit dumbfounded reading Ash the Aura Guardian's words—was Aura Power really that powerful?

[Champion Ash: If there's nothing else, you should log off for now. Aura Power is indeed a great ability, it's useful not only in battles but also in getting along with Pokemon. You'll find out more once you return to the real world and use it.]

After thinking for a while, Ash understood that "log off" meant returning to the real world.

"I feel like 'I' use such trendy language."

With that thought, Ash's mind exited the chat group and returned to the real world.

...

"Pika? Pika Pika?? Pika Pika???" In reality, since Ash had entered the chat group, his body had become completely motionless.

At first, Pikachu didn't mind, but after a moment, when Ash still hadn't moved, sitting on the ground with his eyes closed, Pikachu thought something had happened to Ash and approached to check his condition.

After some probing, Pikachu found that Ash wasn't pretending to get his attention; he seemed genuinely unconscious, completely still.

This made Pikachu a bit panicked. Although he didn't like human Trainers, it didn't mean he was malicious; quite the opposite, he was very kind-hearted. Otherwise, even with rubber gloves, Pikachu could easily knock Ash out if he wanted, and Ash wouldn't be able to take him away.

So now, confused by Ash's condition, Pikachu didn't know whether to run back for help or to perform some sort of CPR on Ash.

Maybe try giving Ash a Thunder Shock?

Just as Pikachu was contemplating this, Ash slowly opened his eyes, and the eyes of one human and one mouse met.
