Chapter 36 - My Mate.

The moment my boots touched this pack's soil, I knew something was off. My lycan was restless, prowling inside me, and that voice from earlier still echoed in my skull like a haunting.

As soon as the alpha hung up the phone, I hurled it across the room. My hands gripped the desk so hard the wood creaked, as if the force alone could anchor me. It took everything I had not to lose control. Never before had my lycan pushed this hard, this violently.

Atlas might've been able to help, but I refused to call him. I wasn't a boy anymore — I could handle this. I forced the beast down, locked it in place, and turned to the alpha with a clipped breath.

"Apologies for your phone."

"Don't," the alpha said quickly, shaking his head. "He aggravates everyone."

I nodded once. "Then let's move."

The thought of leaving my guards behind flickered through my mind, but instinct screamed against it. They would never allow it — and something told me I'd be a fool to try.
