Chapter 2 - Deceived?

"Here, take this too."

"I am full, alright!!"

On Martin House's porch, Jack and Sam sat at a small dining table for four, they were eating a morning brunch, and Jack just poured 5 strips of bacon on Sam's plate.

"Dude, you have to eat more to gain more weight. You look weak."

Jack said, then he grabbed the whipped cream and poured some on his pancake, then looked at Sam. Sam shook his head as he didn't want it.

"Me and the boys are going to Newton later this evening, want to join us? Bill and Darren will come too, Bill's cousin is buying us beer, even though I shouldn't say it out loud, but…"

Jack, before continuing to speak further, looked around like a scared gazelle and then gestured for Sam to lean in.

'There will also be college girls *wink*.'

Sam's eye widened as he leaned and listened, he made an impressive face and then straightened up.

"I am not going to go, I have to help Mom in the store. Bring two beers back if you can."

Sam also winked and ate his bacon, his face still had some grease smudges left from before. Jack nodded his head and ate bacon while contemplating something.

"Umm, Don't mention the girls' part to Rose, she will kill me."

Jack grabbed another pancake and said he was actually now regretting asking Sam out on a whim.

"I have never shared our conversation with her ever, it's you who always messes it up. Dude, you should watch your mouth. I don't think she will only kill you if you bring girls up with me, I will die as well."

Sam made a pitiful face and complained, Jack, on the other hand, was sweating a bit because his sister always somehow reveals his secret.

"Alright, A pact—I'll just bring you four bottles, and we will forget about this.

Jack said with a serious nod that he was not a good secret keeper at all, he might reveal it tonight.

"Forget about what?"

A beautiful voice came from the house, and then Rose walked in with a damp cloth in her hand. She had changed her clothes as well, she was now wearing black leggings, a black t-shirt, and a floral cardigan.

Jack, hearing her sister's voice, almost jumped up from his seat, if Sam's firm hand was not on his shoulder, he might have spilled the beans already.

"He was asking if I wanted to go to Newton with him, wow! You are looking very beautiful, Rosie."

Sam only half explained, then his eyes went wide as she looked stunning, with a pink-colored cardigan and her small fang teeth, she looked extremely adorable.

"You think so?"

Rose blushed and showed her pearly white teeth and twirled with her cardigan.

"Hey! That's what you got for Christmas this year. Nice, nice."

Jack, seeing the cardigan, instantly commented, and seeing the rage in his sister's eyes, he smiled broadly, and then, grabbing a few strips of bacon, jumped down from the porch and ran outside.

"That idiot"

Sam muttered, "Of course he knows that's her Christmas gift, but Jack has ruined Rose's mood with what could have saved him later tonight."

"Sigh! Show me your face."

Rose sighed seeing her brother run across the muddy field, then she came with the damp cloth and gently wiped his face. The smudges on his face began to disappear, but she stood too close to his face, as Sam's nose sometimes would touch the soft part of her chest, but as it would make her feel awkward, he pretended he didn't notice it.

"It looks clean now."

Rose took a step back and smiled at Sam. Sam smiled at her with a grateful expression on his face. Rose put the damp cloth down and sat across from Sam, her intention was to join him in the brunch.

"I've felt it."

Sam suddenly blurted out and looked at Rose with a shocked face, Rose's face and neck turned crimson in an instant.

"I meant your caring. Why are you so red?"

Sam smiled while Rose looked like she wanted to punch him so bad, but with wide eyes, she looked down and took every piece of bacon from Sam's plate and frantically began to eat them.

*Grrrrrrrrr*

As both of them were enjoying each other's company, a pearly white 2022 Range Rover Sport HSE stopped in the muddy road outside Martin House. As the porch was facing the road directly, both Sam and Rose looked at the car with a curious gaze.

The driver's door opened, and a knee-high black boot landed on the ground first, then a graceful slender leg with spotless blue jeans, followed by a pristine white knit turtlenecksweater and an exquisite face that complements her medium-length curly blonde hair and deep green eyes.

"I hope I am not interrupting you guys."

As soon as her eyes landed on Rose and Sam, she smiled broadly, and then with enthusiasm she walked ahead, she didn't care about the mud or dirt on her clothes at all.

"No, come on in."

Rose stood up with a smile. Clara Hartmann, the only girl in the whole school who has a prettier face than Rose, approached, and Rose secretly looked at Clara's chest and then smiled because she was still superior in this section.

Clara's eagerness was off the chart as she ignored Sam totally and hugged Rose like she was the only friend that mattered right now.

"I am not going to hug you."

After their tight hug, she looked at Sam and, with a huge grin, said in her very beautiful voice.

"Damn it."

Sam smirked, he didn't get up at all. He knew how Clara was—she was Christian too much. He just shook her hands, which Clara really appreciated.

"I went to your mom's shop, she told me you were here for something."

Clara said as she joined the table, Both Sam and Rose can smell the fragrant perfume of Clara.

"Ah! Yeah, I was actually here for Rose's project but saw something more interesting, no offense, Rose."

"None taken."

Rose instantly replied, and then three of them began to talk about this and that. Clara Hartmann was not from Burrton, she was from Zimmerdale, a similarly small neighboring town, and she can be considered a princess of Zimmerdale.

"Sammy!! Come over here, son."

David's voice boomed from the machinery shed, he was waving at Sam, asking him to go there.

Sam nodded his head and then walked out of the porch with a jump. With the winds blowing in the field, Sam had to wear his black leather jacket once again as he approached the shed.

"Mr. Martin"

Sam entered and saw David was actually cleaning the whole shed. Sam tried to pick up a screwdriver, but David gestured him not to and walked to the side, Sam followed from behind.

"Sam, I know you don't take any money for helping us fellow town folks, but today is a bit different, it's not just small repair stuff. You have to take money for it. Here, I don't have much, but I can at least give you this much. Take it as a Christmas present from me."

David shoved two $100 bills in Sam's hand before Sam could even refuse properly.

"But…"

"No buts. See that new jacket she bought? I don't even know what that is called, she was supposed to wear it at Christmas, but she wore it for you. Take her somewhere nice."

David shook his head, Sam was too nice and modest. He was satisfied with Sam, and his background was also nice.

" I… "

[Ding!!]

As Sam wanted to say something, he suddenly heard a huge gong in his head, and before he could wrap his head around what the hell was happening, he saw a transparent panel appearing in front of him, it had glowing letters in it. Sam looked at David and saw he was returning to his house with a satisfied smile on his face.
